Palos Heights Police Department

Update 2:19 p.m.- Police are no longer able to track Leona Heinen's phone at this time. Last known location was in Indiana.

Our Department is attempting to locate an elderly resident that may be confused and suffers from Amnesia. Leona Heinen left her Palos Heights residence this morning to get her hair done but missed the appointment and has not answered her phone since 10:00 a.m. this morning. She sounded confused to her family the last time they spoke. Heinen is not answering her phone but it is being pinged in the area of Crown Pointe, Indiana. She is driving a silver 2013 Mercedes Benz C300 with Illinois Temporary Registration of 874T614.

If she is seen please contact the Palos Heights Police Department at 708-448-5060.

This article states she has dementia. Taking away my Dad's car keys was hard when he started losing bits of memory but I slept better knowing he was safe. (he's still pissed off at me as much as he loves me, but it was for his own good). Where she lives is just minutes from where my husband works. It's really easy to get on the freeway there going east and then south on 65 or 41 but that's farm country. If you get off the freeway on a side road and go off the road, you might not be found for a while.

I hope they find her before the forecast storm hits. South of Chicago and East is supposed to have 8-9 inches of snow. MISSING: Leona Heinen, 82, From Palos Heights

I’m south (dif state) and the forecast is worsening, every half hour, the temps are going to plummet. Awful.

I understand what you mean about having to take the keys away. Not only did we do it for his and my mother in law's safety, but for those driving around him. We were all part of "The Dirty Bast--ds Club".

Where's Leona? Now it has snowed... is anyone looking for this woman? I didn't even hear it it on Chicago News at 10 last night. There was a silver alert on I-294 my co worked said last night

My husband saw the silver alert (the road to our home is off of 294 near Hinsdale). I don't know if they have anything on I65, that seems to be the way she was headed fi she last pinged at Crown Point. We got 7 inches of snow, it may be heavier further south.

I was scared this wasn’t going to be a happy ending. I’m elated to have been wrong!

Ditto. With the hideous weather, I was worried.

Maybe there is a rockin hair stylist in Indiana and Leona decided to treat herself. Probably not, but a good story!

Since this thread has a good outcome, I just have to make an "off topic comment".

You've just reminded me why you're so loved on these threads, dear @Razz !
