Al Capone had ties all over Lake County. Lots of folklore around here, most of it true. Not that it is relevent to this case, but Al Capone had ties to Fox Lake.

ETA I can't find it quickly and have to run out soon. Can someone please find it? tia
Just came from the memorial/candlelight vigil. It was moving. The support from the community and LEOs from as far as Chicago and Wisconsin was impressive.Several thousand people gather to pay respects to slain Fox Lake officer. #rip https://t.co/jD8kMTqAcK
It could be a workable theory, although the cement plant is half way in-between the Fox Lake (end of line) and Ingleside (first stop) stations, probably a mile from either.Another thought I just had about this case has to do with the commuter train line. It's a little out there, but this case is so puzzling and so disturbing so I'll just throw it out there. Could it be that these three came into the area via the commuter train line? Maybe from Chicago? And then set out on foot and purposefully headed to an out of the way area to continue their journey to who knows where once exiting the train? From what I recall reading, this town is the "end of the line" for that commuter route.
I believe the Lieutenant called for backup 3 mins after his initial call in but it took 6 minutes for officers to arrive on scene. Reports on NG tonight stated that LE will not verify that the officer's gun and pepper spray were found.Per live 5 pm newscast it took 3 minutes for back up to arrive on the call made by Lt. Gliniewicz. 3 minutes.

Can you link this because I am not getting where it took 3 minutes? I find the response time incredibly fast and wonderful. I wish it was that fast by me on the Northwestside of Chicago. Breaks my heart that the officers heard G.i. Joe killed... Breaks my heart. This was on NG tonight.
7:52 he calls in first time
7:55 he calls in second time
8:01 officers arrive
Heres a timeline of what police say happened Tuesday

Reports have been of 2 or 3 people. Helicopters have increased over the area again with this. It is about 5 miles due south of where things happened. The area is different, being largely farm fields with a few farmsteads, meeting with newer subdivision neighborhoods. Very little woods, swamp, or lakes. Have heard of lots of K9 requests. It is night and the area is large. Not sure if it's related, but just heard on WBBM AM radio Chicago there's a "huge" police presence with helicopters overhead due to reports of a man running through an open field in Volo, Illinois. Volo is just a few miles south of Fox Lake.
This is a quality local source that is fairly real-time, although limited by availability of people listening to the scanner and transcribing (ie; not staffed 100%). It covers Lake County (where Fox Lake is), as well as McHenry County, which directly neighbors Fox Lake to the west.
This was NBC's report. On the tablet so let me see if I can get the links. If you look back at the post I quoted above, my post preceding this one listed my source as the live news broadcast.
I think the abc link with the video which includes the call to dispatch from Lt. Gliniewicz included the info about the 3 minute response time.
