I'm with you. I would just love it if it turns out that they have found the killer of LtG. It is actually sad that some are already jumping onto the "framing" bandwagon before we even know of anything, as a preemptive strike. I think it is painfully obvious that there are some out there who are completely invested in this being a suicide and even finding the perpetrators will not satisfy their opinions. That said, I am still planning to keep an open mind on both fronts.

Whether or not he's the killer I hope they don't let Filenko anywhere near him.

If Obregon were involved, maybe the other 3 were there as well. Maybe he wasn't seen by LT, and was the one to ambush him. I'm trying to keep an open mind as to any scenario.
I've come up with a few off-the-wall ones myself, and sometimes spoke out where I shouldn't have. I mean, saying unflattering and speculative things about people in an attempt to figure out the why of all this. But I am not LE or a detective. Just a pathetic amateur trying to make sense of what happened in the town where I went to high school. I wish this would get solved, so that there will be no doubt about what took place.

Letting Filenko near him would be the fastest way to guarantee a really good defense.

Unfortunately I don't think this task force is very logical and possibly doesn't realize that.

Question How are survivor benefits dealt with in a case where the spouse's body cannot be found? That would be awful! I don't understand why CG's wife can't receive what she is entitled to now, and perhaps receive the greater amount if it were to be determined later, that she is entitled to it. JMO

I've been reading about this and I think if the survivors have the person declared legally dead they get the benefits. People whose family members died in the World Trade Center received survivor benefits, for instance, even though bodies were never recovered.

I don't understand either although I know the process after someone dies takes a long time. But I agree she should be getting something now. No matter the manner or cause of death he IS dead and she's the surviving spouse. I don't know what they would be entitled to but his children are still his children.

Dunno. But they have 9 DNA samples from the scene, and presumably they have his, as well, so is there a match? JMO

That's all I'm asking. Would the need a warrant to take a DNA sample? We were at a restaurant a number of years ago when LE came into the place and took one of the busboys. They threw a piece of paper at him and someone said it was a court order for a DNA sample re: Browns chicken murders.

This is from 2013:

Supreme Court allows police to take DNA without a warrant

US police are now legally allowed to take DNA samples from those who are arrested, even if they have not been convicted for a crime or gone to trial. The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 to uphold the controversial practice on Monday.

Critics claim that taking DNA samples from anyone in custody without a warrant is considered an unconstitutional “search”, but the high court believes otherwise. US police who arrest anyone for a felony are now legally allowed to take a cheek swab of the arrestee to obtain a DNA sample, regardless of whether or not an individual has been convicted.

Here's some background on the case:

Good to know....I had been checking paperwork filed for him in lake county and didn't see anything regarding a warrant but I wasn't sure. Thanks!

Is this the case you're talking about? Wow. Amazing they caught them after so many years.

Murder Trial to Begin in Illinois, 14 Years After 7 Died
Among the evidence prosecutors are expected to present at Mr. Luna’s trial is a videotaped confession he gave shortly after his arrest, a confession that he has since claimed was coerced. They are also likely to present DNA tests that they say link the remains of the suspects’ partly eaten chicken dinner, retrieved from a trash can, to saliva samples gotten from the men a few weeks before their arrests.

Yeah, that's the one. Really violent and, not surprisingly, a lot of complaints about local police not handling things correctly. Luna used to work for them and had gone in and even ate some chicken before committing the crime. The garbage cans had been cleaned out already when a cop noticed a partially eaten piece of chicken and saved it. Scary time, too.

Does anybody know if Obregon is a US citizen?

Just a guess, but because his mom lives in Wisconsin and he went to school there I think so.

From skipping school to homicide suspect, a snapshot of Andrew Obregon
Beth, who lives in Brighton near where Obregon grew up, said he worked as the Drug Abuse Resistance Education officer in the 1990s in Obregon’s school.

His mother, Susan M. Obregon, 60, of Bristol, is facing charges of obstruction and harboring or aiding a felon. Beth said she was helping provide money to her son and will remain jailed so she can’t continue financing him while on the run.

Lt.G will always be considered a victim, regardless of MOD, IMO. I wonder if the widow will still think and say that Dr. Rudd is a liar, should the final determination be homicide.JMO

Dr. Rudd never determined the MOD. He didn't say one way or the other, just that he could not determine MOD based on the evidence available at the time.
It seems people reacted adversely one way or the other over the idea the doctor wants to get it right. Most citizens should be encouraged to know he has high standards imo.
It seems he won't kowtow to what various people want his determination to end up being until after he's satisfied he has all the necessary evidence to determine the true MOD.

Obregon has a long list of criminal activity. You can see his convictions online.

Just goggle:
"simple case search" Wisconsin
Keep it on statewide.

He definitely fits the MO of someone that would kill a cop in order to prevent himself from going back to prison.

He looked white to me. His Mom looked white to me also. If anything he's half Latino. Does anyone know the motive for killing Tywon, or whatever his name was?

Does anyone know how long extradition takes? Obregon is being held until Nov. 3 in lake county.

This does seem like it's more than the usual amount of time. But I don't know what charges he has in Illinois. You're talking about a 20 minute drive here. Unless Lake county has a reason to hold him....That tells me that perhaps they are looking into a connection with LTGs shooting???

Tywon Andersons twin sister presumed he was dead before they found his body.

Think she knew he was in danger? I mean hell, if you cant tell your twin sister you were involved in a cop killing, who can you tell?

Edit to add. I know Tywon is a victim here at this point, which is why I chose to use the word "involved" and not actually a cop killer. I'm just trying to speculate as to how this story could connect to the LTG shooting.

Edited again for spelling of the victims name.

You can check lake counties court clerk records. He was charged with 5 traffic violations, one auto theft and one fugitive from justice.

Has there been any MSM or LE release suggesting that Obregon is tied to the death of CG?
