Does anyone remember one of the early press conferences when Filenko said they'd been contacted by Wisconsin in regards to the stolen car? It was within the first week IIRC but I can't find it now.
I remember it but can't find it either. Obregon is apparently quite adept at stealing cars and avoiding the po lice.

The other option I haven't seen mentioned.
If it was a homicide but the perp is now deceased.
Or if the perp is taking a plea to plead guilty.
Unlikely, sure but they are other explanations that could fit.
It could also mean the cops are certain that they have identified the culprit. Even though o.j. Was found not guilty the lapd still considers the case closed.

But that was after a lengthy investigation and hearing. They didn't say it was closed the day they arrested him.

What's even more interesting is the black male murder victim was found in a corn field. Kristin Kiefer originally claimed she had car trouble and stopped next to a corn field where she was approached by 2 whites guys and a black male. She of course reportedly changed her story when the police were about to test the interior of her car for Dna evidence. I wonder if she was anywhere near the same cornfield where the body was found?I wonder if her original "false" description of the black male matches up with Tywon A. The murder victim?
The suspected killer Andrew O. Will no doubt have his Dna taken. This might get real interesting..

Unlikely to be related. Yes, cornfields involved in both. But in the Illinois/Wisconsin area, those are two of hundreds and hundreds of cornfields over thousands of square miles. And there is probably a half hour or more between those discussed.

This guy seems to like to hide out n cornfields that's for sure. I guess we will have to wait and see if anything develops to connect him to this case. Like yogi always said, "it ain't over till it's over."

Actually, when you think about it, staying in cornfields would be a good way to stay hidden and keep moving. There are plenty of cornfields between Illinois and Wisconsin. And, he seemed pretty familiar with the area. I wonder what ever happened with that report from an employee at a restaurant near FL the night of Sept. 1. She claimed a black guy and a white guy came in and asked her to give them a ride to Wisconsin.

I remember that but thought that was the same girl who made up the story. I think initially they said it was at Fratello's(corner of 120 and 12/59 in Volo) then it morphed into her car breaking down on the side of the road or something a bit farther south on 12/59. I think it is the same "story" that was just confused from the getgo, probably due to the fact that it was all a really bad lie to begin with.

ETA - found it! And it was the same story.

"In court Thursday morning, prosecutors said Kiefer told authorities that the men had asked for a ride to Wisconsin.

Prosecutors said Kiefer at first insisted her story was true. But she began to backtrack when authorities told her that DNA testing was being conducted on a car door she said one of the men had tried to open, they said."

I don't know that they were the same story. I heard about Fratellos (thanks for the name, couldn't remember) the night of sept 1 and I think the Volo incident happened the next night, didn't it?
I know many are saying they hope Obregon doesn't become the scapegoat but honestly, this is what LE was hoping might happen in the weeks that followed the LTs death. The task force is under some heavy scrutiny now and I don't think they could successfully create evidence to frame him. Either there is or isn't proof. I just hope they are looking into it.

Is it coincidence that Filenko was interviewed saying they should have conclusions in mode of death and have the case closed by the end of November just after they finally apprehended Obregon?

I'm with you. I would just love it if it turns out that they have found the killer of LtG. It is actually sad that some are already jumping onto the "framing" bandwagon before we even know of anything, as a preemptive strike. I think it is painfully obvious that there are some out there who are completely invested in this being a suicide and even finding the perpetrators will not satisfy their opinions. That said, I am still planning to keep an open mind on both fronts.

Does anyone know how long extradition takes? Obregon is being held until Nov. 3 in lake county.

Andrew Obregon is a Latino. How does that fit in with the description of the 3 that LT radioed in?

Can you venture a guess as to why the Lt's death benefits are still being withheld if he was in fact, murdered?

Dunno. But they have 9 DNA samples from the scene, and presumably they have his, as well, so is there a match? JMO

I would imagine his death benefits would be withheld until there is a determination of MOD. If the family can wait why can't people making judgments do the same? This is a victim friendly forum and at this point LtG is still a victim. And IMO the family will remain victims no matter the outcome. The benefits issue doesn't concern me either way and I trust that will be dealt with accordingly.

Lt.G will always be considered a victim, regardless of MOD, IMO. I wonder if the widow will still think and say that Dr. Rudd is a liar, should the final determination be homicide.JMO

Question How are survivor benefits dealt with in a case where the spouse's body cannot be found? That would be awful! I don't understand why CG's wife can't receive what she is entitled to now, and perhaps receive the greater amount if it were to be determined later, that she is entitled to it. JMO

I can appreciate the point your are trying to make but I also remember that it made the news when the panel was assembled to decide how to distribute the Lt's benefits. I can't imagine everyone waiting until the MOD is officially determined for the Team to announce they have the killer in custody. Or even that they have a suspect.
