Any photos out there that show him in his vest with the cell attached? JMO I have seen one where his radio is attached to his left shoulder, on the vest......is that what they meant by phone? No where near the "abdomen"..........
Yes, there is a photo. The cell phone is located on his lower left abdomen. So a ricochet would have to hit that and then some how go towards his head, turn around and then return in a downward trajectory. Assuming the rumors are correct.

And no camera would should a ricochet as they could never replicate it with any sort of accuracy to appease a court. That is why they use computer models for these shots.

It also would need to explain the second casing and why he shot twice?

I had the opportunity to go to Woodstock Harley today for the fundraiser for LT. Gliniewicz's family and his explorer post. His wife was there and gave a small speech thanking everyone but reminding everyone to hold first responders in their hearts because everyday they put their life on the line for us. They announced they had raised just a little over $14,000. and the totals weren't complete yet as they were still selling raffle tickets. Huge turnout.

Not sure if anyone is following the Jessica Chambers case which is hinky and still unsolved, but her sister almost immediately started selling T shirts and stuff, such that the Justice for Jessica FB Page, became and remains all prayers and merchandizing.........dejavu. JMO

How was someone so very adept at combat situations and knowing all the right moves and red flags, ambushed and murdered. His son would like to understand that. So do I. It just doesn't make sense that he died that way. BECAUSE of his well-known capacity to defend himself, his death is mysterious and the default is, that it was by choice that he died. The son calls anyone who questions this like I do a "critic" and a rumor-monger. I understand his pain and loss, but it seems to me that any inspection of his fathers death must include the possibility that he chose his own way out. Why? his son cannot imagine......understandably. He cannot go there. JMO

Who knows? Look what happened to Chris Kyle, ex navy SEAL. That's not to say it isn't a suicide, but things do happen sometimes that are hard to understand or believe.

As I recall, Chris Kyle was VERY suspicious of the kook that he took to the shooting range. JMO....He knew the guy was off and commented to his accompanying friend.

rsbm --

Let's also not forget that there were no defensive wounds, nor signs of a struggle.

Yea he did and yet he still got himself into a vulnerable position and that's all it took.

We don't know that he didn't have defense wounds. I believe that source was an unnamed source and that could be anyone. I don't think any named official stated this, did they?

Agree. Bad things do happen to good people. Self-confidence is powerful, but a sprinkle of humility about ones machismo, could and does save lives. Probably not a good idea to take a person that you believe to be suffering PTSD, to a shooting range for "therapy" despite your self confidence in being able to handle in any situation. Just My Opinion

Injuries to Law Enforcement Officers Shot Wearing Personal Body Armor: A 30-Year Review

"Although frequently referred to as 'bulletproof vests,' in reality the vests do not stop all rounds fired. Of the 54 officers slain with firearms in 2004, 31 were wearing body armor. In four cases, the bullet penetrated through the vest, and a fifth died from a nonpenetrating blunt force trauma to the chest."

The body armor called "Kevlar" is, "strong enough to stop a
.38-caliber lead bullet or a .22-caliber rifle round."

Very interesting information - so much more within the link.

I guess we'll have to wait for the autopsy report. If he was wearing the vest, and a non leathal shot struck him in the vest, there would be visable bruising to exterior area of impact and internal organs.

If it was suicide, and based on the info we have right now, he would have have to of shot himself in the vest first. At close range OBV. Then walked aprox 100 feet and shoot himself again with the leathal shot. Again, at close range, OBV.

This scenerio is bizzare to say the least. And I, myself, right now cannot buy into it.

If the rulling comes out as indetermined, The believers of suicede will call BS. The whole case will forever have a stain on it.

If it rulled a suicide, those that knew him, even in a casual way, will never believe it and call corruption/cover up, due to prior investigations and implications. The reprocussions from this rulling would be devastating nation wide. Mostly because of the inclusion of a black male in a predominatly white community. Then there's the whole frenzy of support and a funeral that could only be described as presidential. People will feel as though they were duped. However, suicide is a disease in itself. Unfortunately, most people don't see it that way. The family would have to live with the shame that those people would put upon them.

If it's rulled a homicide and ends up as a cold case, the pain of no closure will mostly reside within the local comunity. He will remain the hero he has been for his whole life, (and always will be, IMO) and people will just wonder "what really happend that morning?"

The meeting that is supposed to happen tomorrow, sunday 20th september, hopefully will bring some progressive movement in this case. Lab results should be soon to follow. Hopefully press releases will also be soon to follow.

I'm new here. It seems it's difficult to log in at times. Oh well. Let's see if this will post.

I grew up in the area, and Fox Lake always had something of a shady reputation. I sensed something strange about this on the third day after it happened.

I'm wondering when (or if) they will bring in a forensic pathologist like Henry Lee, Cyril Wecht, Michael Baden, Joshua Perper or Janet Garavaglia to review the results of the autopsy. With all the controversy about police these days, it would be good to know the truth.

If the truth is never revealed or found, will there be a book about this in the future?

For those of you who still live in Fox Lake, are you afraid in your homes? Or do you believe there never were any "suspicious persons"?

No. Nothing official that I've seen, but wouldn't obvious defense wounds have been noted in the autopsy report? They would make a homicide much more likely. JMO....also, the physical contact indicated by them would likely have produced DNA transfer...even fingerprints. JMO

Welcome to the board. Good question about how local people feel right now.

I bet Rudd will write a book about all the horrible stuff going on this county and how the coroner office seems to always be fighting against the police and prosecuters. It would be fascinating.

Interestingly Henry Lee has already given one opinion on this case just to say he can't imagine why tests like.gun powder residue and stippling are taking so long to be completed.

Re: the non fatal shot.

As japple said if he shot himself in the vest while wearing it he should have bruising.

However, we have at this point no evidence he was wearing the vest when it was shot, that it was shot that morning, nor if that shot was not just a glancing blow that hit nothing but his phone clip.

The gun could have been fired down his body and not toward his body, with the bullet just hitting the protruding phone and/or phone clip and never touching the bullet proof part of the vest.

I am not really following this ...

We don't know if he was wearing the vest when it was shot? really?

We don't know that it was shot that morning? ????

He could shoot himself from point blank range and hit nothing but his phone clip?

And it would travel down alongside his body between the vest and his body, never hitting either but just the phone clip? Isn't that kind of a one in a million shot?
