TY. something going on now? JMO

No, nothing going on now. I just posted it for those who may not have been around over the weekend to see the transcript and haven't had the time to read all the posts. Sorry for any confusion.

Didn't he call several agencies on a burner phone? I think he knew what he was doing and the risk. I do not doubt his rage though. JMO.
I didn't hear about the burner phone; I heard he just blocked his number.
At least he thought he knew what he was doing. It didn't turn out so good for him though.

I do think that investigators have a PR nightmare on their hands. I'm not bashing them for their reasons for their trying to control it, but the public is not a bunch of turnips! Don't say anything or at least stick to the facts. We are aware of the spin, and that does not bode well for enhancing the trust of the public in LE agencies. Their ONLY agenda should be to solve this case based upon factual evidence. Picking a fight with the Coroner is not making progress in the resolution of this. Whatever it is. Seriously! JMO

Talk of the County: Can't trust investigation into Fox Lake cop's death

Editor's note: Talk of the County is a reader-generated column of opinions. If you see something you disagree with or think is incorrect, please tell us. Can't trust task force
The Lake County Major Crime Task Force was the major evidence provider in more than one case that resulted in conviction and years in prison for the "criminal." When the verdict was overturned and the "felon" freed, the taxpayers of Lake County were left on the hook for millions of dollars. Do not rush to judgment with your trust until the "secret" evidence is available and subject to extensive examination.

Its not a problem if be fired the gun and walked twenty feet into the woods and fired again.

It isn't a problem if the first casing ejected into his pants cuff and fell out later when they were transporting him to the ambulance.

It isn't a problem if the casing was picked up in a wheel tread a deposited elsewhere.

There are very logical reasons why a casing can end up miles away from where it was ejected.
So, u think he shot himself once, walked a ways then shot himself the second time finally getting it right? One shell just happened to fall in his pant leg and fell out. Not like before when maybe a k9 dog might have moved it? He orchestrated all this because he "could" and wouldn't worry about what his kids might think cause he would be dead? The ex cop was drunk, angry and needing attention so he threatened the coroner.
Have I summarized your hypothesis correctly so far?

I agree with you, but then why the contradictions in msm regarding his being on duty or not? ay yi yi. this is like the weather. If you don't like the evidence wait a day, it'll change.

I think they may not really be contradictions. In other words, his shift might have started at 8 am, but for insurance purposes his duty time was 7:45, because cops are considered 'on duty' as they travel to and prepare for their shift.

An electrician has a dangerous job and is paid medical and death benefits if they die 'on the job.' But they are not considered 'on duty' as they prepare for their shift because they do not have the same job dangers on the street that an officer may have.

http://abc7chicago.com/news/3-fox-lake-suspects-now-persons-of-interest/984475/

The 3 suspects are now being called persons of interest, which is a downgrade in this case.

Interesting they are still seeking these 3 (if they exist), especially after the other 3 on video were supposedly cleared, but the downgrade, to me, suggests the direct involvement of the men reported by the Lt. in the shooting is less likely, and the tenor of the article suggests they are no closer to solving this case. Still awaiting some tests though.

That scares me. Who is overseeing the task force to see they are investigating properly? After the current task force throwing the coroner under the bus I have serious questions about their objectivity in this investigation.

It may be an unpopular opinion, but given the history between Filenko and Rudd and Rudd discovering inaccuracies in previous investigation(s) I have some serious concerns.

I missed discussion about the ^ bbm. Links or summaries, anyone? Thx in adv.

{ETA: not doubting you, Cubby, or anyone else, would like to see original source and kind of 'inaccuracies.'}

Rudd found alleged inconsistencies in a high profile case in Lake County surrounding a daycare center employee convicted of killing a toddler at the center. She confessed to the killing (with Filenko handling some of the questioning), but Rudd claims to have found evidence of preexisting injuries to the boy's head, so her attorneys want the conviction overturned.

Breaking: Fox Lake officer's death being investigated as homicide or suicide, sources say.

Link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...lake-police-shooting-0914-20150914-story.html

Thanks for the link PandaJ. I found this from the article interesting:

On Monday, Rudd said he was compiling data and expected to finish a pathology report, possibly within the next few days.

"We are working right now on finalizing the report," Rudd said. "We have the results of our autopsy and ancillary tests and then will present them to the crime task force."

At that point, he said, he hopes to receive the additional laboratory results from the task force before making a final determination on the manner of death.

He hopes to review results from tests of DNA found beneath Gliniewicz's fingernails, as well as any gunshot residue on the body, he said.

Those tests are being handled by the task force, which sent the evidence to multiple labs "so we don't bog any one lab down," Covelli said.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...nty-sheriff-shot-dead-met-20150914-story.html

A bit O/T but this story predicated a year of high drama in the Lake County area. I remember the schools being on lock down and the shooter was found hiding in the woods that I drove right past on my way home that night. Such a shame that this has happened, primarily because it won't receive the kind of attention that the LTs case has gotten. It looks like they are looking into charging the shooter, already serving 135 years for 2 attempted murders with actual murder, since it appears he could have died as a result of his wounds. (He died during a therapy session, which to me says blood clot.)

"McHenry County Sheriff's Deputy Dwight Maness, who was shot multiple times last year in the line of duty, died Monday, officials said.

Maness, 47, and his partner, Deputy Khalia Satkiewicz, were both seriously wounded in October when they arrived at a home in Holiday Hills for a well-being check and a man there opened fire on them with an assault rifle.

Maness died Monday during a rehab session, State's Attorney Louis Bianchi said.

"I'm as devastated as every other law enforcement (official) in this area and across the country," Bianchi said. "To lose another hero like this in the line of duty … this guy was a real hero."

This story was crazy! A good friend of mine worked with Melissa at that day care center and Melissa lived only a block away from me. I was told by my friend that no one thought Melissa did it. This new information has just come out recently, so it really feeds right into this story, considering 2 of the major players are once again at the center of the story.

ETA - There is a thread on this story: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...iver-charged-14-Jan-2009&highlight=calusinski

What a heartbreaking turn of events....
RIP Deputy Dwight Maness

Thx for bringing info to the thread about benefits for LEOs. Very enlightening.

For others:
Here's a link to federal agency administering the program.
https://www.psob.gov/files/PSOBRegs2013.htm#StatSec1201Officer.

You aRe welcome. I would like to point out for other posters as well that under PSOB his widow would have received $350,000 lump sum. Not including other benefits that will not be paid out if he committed suicide. They may also not be paid out if it was an accidents do to his negligence or if he was found to be on any drugs.

So a great deal of money hinges on the manner of death.

Yes, we are talking about a very well trained and motivated individual. Here is just one possibility: One of the perps might have " surrendered", the other one or two could have outflanked the Lt. As they (other two) closed the distance the Lt. Who was no doubt motivated and trained to scan around his 360 could have gotten a shot off if he heard, felt or saw the other two. The closest one to the the Lt. Could have wrestled his gun away and shot him with it. This scenario points to the other three being " trained" in this sort of thing.

And they were not detectable by the multitude of K9's after all that. . . because?

Why?

First post, long time lurker.

I have been following this case and was suspicious of the three-suspected-murderers scenario from the start.

I don't believe anyone else has mentioned this yet.

During the funeral Gliniewicz's friend claimed he would run two miles and then smoke a cigarette.

Two packs of Marlboroughs can be seen on his visor in the picture of Gliniewiscz sitting in his cruiser and turning to smile.

I think he was probably a long-time, heavy smoker and I wonder if he recently was diagnosed with lung cancer.

He might have thought if he was going to die soon from cancer he might as well make his death look like it was in the line of duty so his family got more benefits. And if he was retiring soon he had a limited amount of time left to be killed on duty.

This could explain why he shot himself in the chest and not the head as he was hoping any autopsy wouldn't notice cancer in his lungs if it was focused on bullet wounds.

I also don't know how his medical benefits would have worked once he retired. He might have been forced to have a physical to reassess for his retirement medical benefits and knew he would have problems.

Okay, check this out. Here is the scanner transmission containing Gliniewicz's last words.

Now compare it to one of his facebook videos in 2009.

There is clearly a difference in his voice over the past 6 years. It goes from a strong high-toned military voice to one that now sounds more like a sore frog. This concerns me. I'll keep searching for more recent footage. But his voice change over the years does not sound right at all.
