Okay, check this out. Here is the scanner transmission containing Gliniewicz's last words.

https://www.facebook.com/abc7chicago/videos/10153686351536162/

Now compare it to one of his facebook videos in 2009.

https://www.facebook.com/TheOriginalGIJOE/videos/vb.1014385994/1155794367748/?type=2&theater

There is clearly a difference in his voice over the past 6 years. It goes from a strong high-toned military voice to one that now sounds more like a sore frog. This concerns me. I'll keep searching for more recent footage. But his voice change over the years does not sound right at all.

FYI Big Bread, it's really not a fair comparison to compare the radio traffic with the audio on that video. I'm a former radio electronics technician and I recognized the fact almost immediately that the radio system that the officer and dispatch is using is a digital system.

In the video, the audio is most likely an analogue recording. However, even if it is a digital recording, it's at a much higher sampling rate and a much better quality than the over the air police system is.

And they were not detectable by the multitude of K9's after all that. . . because?

Why?
I don't know? I guess people get away sometimes. Don't they?

I missed discussion about the ^ bbm. Links or summaries, anyone? Thx in adv.

{ETA: not doubting you, Cubby, or anyone else, would like to see original source and kind of 'inaccuracies.'}

here is the thread:

Sorry, I was having trouble with the tablet. Back on the laptop. I see someone added the thread to Benjamin's case. Someone else posted and I took their word for it. Apparently Filenko took/pressed Melissas into confessing. Rudd was the one to find the inaccuracies regarding Benjamin's COD.

Anyhoo, I didn't follow it closely, but am glad some posting in this thread are more familiar with it.

They didn't just get away. They never left a scent, never drew the attention of anyone other than the LT, never drew the attention of friends and or neighbors when they emerged from the swamp and went on with their lives, never got spotted speeding away in a car or boat. . .

Pretty remarkable for three guys pursued by a veteran cop and surrounded by traffic and swampland.

"Emerged from the swamp".. With all respect that paints quite a picture, sort of a modern day Creature from the black lagoon type character.I'm not convinced these guys if they actually existed, would necessarily attract much attention at all. Some young guys maybe early 20's wearing t-shirts and dirty, perhaps muddy jeans on a 90 degree day wouldn't stand out especially considering the type of work performed at the businesses along Honing Road and elsewhere in that area.

Riding my Harley on Grass Lake Road (Fox Lake) on any given morning in warm weather it's routine to see shabbaly attired people on foot going only God knows where.

The Police response was rapid but there was ample time to leave the area without attracting attention and blend in.

We are still left with all the K9's being unable to track any of them, the fact that no-one reported any of them as being suspicious - despite such a widely publicized manhunt. etc.

I can't prove a negative so I can't prove they never existed. But the mental gymnastics that it takes to believe they were there, that a veteran officer can be jumped and killed so quickly by three suspects that can completely elude a multitude of K9 units, helicopters, a massive manhunt, etc. is just too much for me. I really would rather this not have been an intentional or even an un-intentional suicide. However, so far - that is the only thing that the evidence supports.

There is a reason they have been reclassified as "persons of interest" rather than "suspects" by the investigating authorities at this point.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...nty-sheriff-shot-dead-met-20150914-story.html

A bit O/T but this story predicated a year of high drama in the Lake County area. I remember the schools being on lock down and the shooter was found hiding in the woods that I drove right past on my way home that night. Such a shame that this has happened, primarily because it won't receive the kind of attention that the LTs case has gotten. It looks like they are looking into charging the shooter, already serving 135 years for 2 attempted murders with actual murder, since it appears he could have died as a result of his wounds. (He died during a therapy session, which to me says blood clot.)

"McHenry County Sheriff's Deputy Dwight Maness, who was shot multiple times last year in the line of duty, died Monday, officials said.

Maness, 47, and his partner, Deputy Khalia Satkiewicz, were both seriously wounded in October when they arrived at a home in Holiday Hills for a well-being check and a man there opened fire on them with an assault rifle.

Maness died Monday during a rehab session, State's Attorney Louis Bianchi said.

"I'm as devastated as every other law enforcement (official) in this area and across the country," Bianchi said. "To lose another hero like this in the line of duty … this guy was a real hero."

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...nty-sheriff-shot-dead-met-20150914-story.html

<Snip>

"Maness had undergone several surgeries. During Peters' trial this year, Maness made a point of standing up from his wheelchair each time the judge entered or exited the courtroom, in contrast to Peters, who defiantly remained seated, against courtroom protocol.

Maness "stood out as a conscientious, dedicated officer," according to a statement from the sheriff's office. He received numerous letters of commendation during almost eight years in the sheriff's office, including an award as a recruit for honor and professionalism at the Police Training Institute. He also served as a field training officer, a member of the SWAT team and a first aid instructor.

Previously, he served 20 years in the U.S. Army, seeing active duty in Operation Desert Storm, and retired as a sergeant first class, officials said."

<Snip>

I remember Deputy Dwight Maness being interviewed about Lt.Gliniewicz, and then earlier today when the news said he died, I was like "Oh no, damn, really!" How tragic and sad for his wife and family and all involved.

And, while we are at it, why should the good citizens of Fox Lake pay for the extra gasoline it would require for him to take it home to another town? It would be one thing if it was once in awhile, quite another if it was every night.

.

Erhm... Really? It's different for every police department but lots of officers, especially lieutenants (and other ranking officers) drive a department vehicle to and from home. Same with K-9 units.

The reason being that it helps speed up a response time - and ranking officers may be on call 24/7 for certain types of emergencies. A very good use of tax dollars actually.

I think we can make an educated guess that it was typical for him to drive a department vehicle to and from home until we hear otherwise

So, u think he shot himself once, walked a ways then shot himself the second time finally getting it right? One shell just happened to fall in his pant leg and fell out. Not like before when maybe a k9 dog might have moved it? He orchestrated all this because he "could" and wouldn't worry about what his kids might think cause he would be dead? The ex cop was drunk, angry and needing attention so he threatened the coroner.
Have I summarized your hypothesis correctly so far?

I answered this yesterday but now this showing as new and my reply is missing. Hm.... very interesting.

No, you have not summarized my hypothesis correctly at all.

You have confused what other posters said with what I said. You also have confused me supplying possible scenarios with me claiming that I believe those scenarios actually happened.

If you are truly interested in what I have posted (I explained this in another missing post to a missing post of yours) then please go back and read my posts. I have only posted 25 as of now.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-48-hours-baby-death-met-20150301-story.html

Rudd found alleged inconsistencies in a high profile case in Lake County surrounding a daycare center employee convicted of killing a toddler at the center. She confessed to the killing (with Filenko handling some of the questioning), but Rudd claims to have found evidence of preexisting injuries to the boy's head, so her attorneys want the conviction overturned.

OMG "inconsistencies" is such a huge HUGE understatement. You have to watch the 20/20 about it that was on a couple weeks ago.

She's going to get a new trial. She really truly honestly did NOT do it. She only confessed bc she was locked in a room for 15 hours, being intimidated, told she couldn't leave until she confessed, wasn't allowed to eat or go to the bathroom, and to top it off she is special needs and they totally took advantage of that. She basically confessed so she could go home- the video was so sad. Someone did hurt that poor little boy but not her.

I had no idea this was the same county...

And now I lean even more towards: this was a planned, calculated murder and for some reason is now going to be covered up and/or made to look like a suicide with zero oversight or agencies to make sure these corrupt loons tell the truth.

A horse, really? You're comparing keeping a vehicle at home with a garage to a horse?

I added the information about my neighbor to indicate it not being unusual, since people here seem to think Lt. CG bringing his vehicle home is out of the ordinary. There is not anything to indicate his bringing his article home was anything out of the ordinary.

Cubby,

I agree in that I don't think LT having the patrol car overnight was out of the ordinary for him.

If his title is any indication...he was in a supervisory position. Most LE supervisors have agency vehicles assigned to them, for overnight call-outs to scenes, etc.
I would find it rare that a supervisor would have to drive their personal vehicle every work day to go into the office.
And if that were the case, they'd then take a vehicle home ("check a vehicle out") the night before if they were supposed to go somewhere other than straight to the office the next morning...i.e., maybe they had to drive to court or off-site training, etc. first thing in the morning. Or, a search warrant or trash run, etc.
We are not hearing this of this LT.

Therefore, I'd say it makes more sense, than not, that he was assigned an agency car and drove it home every day.
Now, that is until we hear otherwise, LOL!!!!

Agreed! I live in a town with a similar sized police department and they often have select officers take cars home at shifts end so if there is an emergency and there are not enough units available, these officers can respond quickly as backup if needed. I don't find him taking the car home odd at all.

Now it makes even more sense that Rudd sent samples to independent labs for analysis in addition to the state and federal labs.

There is a long rich history of covering things up, lying, etc. totally corrupt county here from the top to bottom.

But Rudd is a good dude. He uncovered all this stuff which is why he probably talked to the press. Two links:

1) filenko has a history of being a dirty cop- look who the Interrogating officer is here in this case where the prosecutors lied about evidence that would have exonerated this woman: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/...-sean-curran-confession-10-hour-interrogation

2) also a link talking about Rudd and this investigation: http://www.chicagotribune.com/subur...-police-shooting-met-0910-20150909-story.html

AND now I need to know two things: WHO is battaglia??? He is not just a random crazy who happens to be retired LEO and is calling and threatening people. I don't for one second believe anything coming from lake county that said he's unrelated to the case. He is somehow related to something.

And: is lake county/fox lake self-insured? In the sense of providing insurance and benefits to government employees of either municipality. Anyone?

(I'm on a roll and googling everything)

That was my first thought as well. If each piece of evidence is sent to a different lab, it becomes much harder for anyone shady to manipulate that evidence to fit a desired story.

  • #258
I think they may not really be contradictions. In other words, his shift might have started at 8 am, but for insurance purposes his duty time was 7:45, because cops are considered 'on duty' as they travel to and prepare for their shift.

An electrician has a dangerous job and is paid medical and death benefits if they die 'on the job.' But they are not considered 'on duty' as they prepare for their shift because they do not have the same job dangers on the street that an officer may have.

Hi Katydid! (DD waves hi!)

And sometimes it really does get convoluted.

One of my former agencies had an officer die in a early morning car crash in the thick fog...the officer rear ended a semi in the fog on the way to training (or court) up in Dallas. The State (his Agency) fought the on-duty death benefits for this officer, stating that driving to his "station" in Dallas (again, not his regular tour of duty location) was not covered, that he was not "on duty" until he arrives at his tour of duty. ................This was fought in court for several years. Ultimately, his wife won the case and this officer did receive "on duty" death benefits.

Yep... AND I think it's really good how the coroner put them on blast and did speak to the media to explain how he hasn't made a determination because the information he needs from THEM. Rudd is our man. He's a shining beacon of hope in all of this and he won't back down. He knows they are all hinky.

Wow! That's great that they won! My husbands department tacks on .5 hour on each end of the shift for travel time and that is officially considered on duty. Because if they aren't extremely specific about that then it's up for the insurer to fight. So sad that LEOs and their families have to go through denial of benefits and litigation after an already traumatic event. [emoji17]
