Since it seems pretty clear that Rudd won't let LE influence his decision, I wonder what it is that is keeping him from ruling out a homicide if it really is a suicide.

Perhaps he's still having trouble getting the information he needs from LE to make a determination.

I don't think that anyone would be satisfied with a ruling of "undetermined", but that could happen.....not sure to what degree that would affect resolution of benefits though. JMO

I think no matter what the MOD is they will give a press conference, even if undetermined. JMO

I would think at this point they would have to do an official press release. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a news conference but rather a statement and request for respect for privacy for the family and the grieving PD coworkers.

The public has been told in no uncertain terms, that Gliniewicz had absolutely nothing to do with the internal investigation, not as an investigator, not as a witness, not as a participant in any way. I have wondered if resolution of his death had anything to do with the outcome of the internal investigation, if only peripherally.....but, if we take them at their word, then this delay has nothing to do with that one.............JMO

As police continue to investigate the cause of the shooting death of Gliniewicz, who was found dead shortly after he radioed police to say he was pursuing three suspects on Sept. 1, the pension board will have to decide if Gliniewicz’s widow is entitled to the larger benefits providing to spouses of officers killed in the line of duty, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Spouses of officers killed in the line of duty can receive a pension that is equal to 100 percent of the officer’s salary and the spouses and children are eligible for free health insurance, the newspaper reports. Children can receive free tuition at state-supported colleges and the state and federal government give lump-sum benefits worth several hundred thousand dollars to survivors."

Yes an autopsy can be sealed by the courts but the method of death cannot. They have to tell us what the determination is. I am interested in the autopsy too. What did they know that day just by looking at his body?

I am hoping some press get a FOIA in quick after the determination is made before they attempt to seal anything.

At this point she should recieve whatever the normal benefits are. IF at some point in the future the mod is determined to be homicide she should recieve the increased benefits retroactive. I don't know they can make any other decision when this is not yet determined to be homicide.

For those of you asking about sealing a COD or MOD I thought it was interesting that this was the first story on my FB feed.

"The cause of Bobbi Kristina Brown's death has been determined, but the medical examiner's office won't publicly unveil autopsy results because of a court order."

So apparently...at least in this case, it can be.

In that case, they have a particular person of interest who they suspect is involved in her subsequent death. COD is damage from drug overdose, but did she do it herself, or a little help...JMO

I wanted to re-visit this article in the Chicago Tribune.

"Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Orlando Portillo said officials have some autopsy results but have been instructed by the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force not to release the report because of the ongoing investigation."

This was back on September 5th. Well before Rudd spoke out on the results. Also, the comments section is interesting, in particular the last comment made and that posters other comments elsewhere are also insightful to weigh pertaining to Dr. Rudd.

I'm starting to think that all is quiet because there is going to be a court battle about the survivor benefits. I think that the State must prove that it was a suicide,(if it was). In which case, either homicide or suicide must be proven, for survivor benefits to be determined. This could be a long drawn-out administrative law case. Just my opinion. Laura Goodloe is the only attorney mentioned in articles. So, is she the one on vacation? I think that she is the co- author of the Illinois Police fund benefits handbook for trustees. JMO JMO JMO
