#FoxLake PD death investigators tell me they won't challenge coroner's final ruling in cause of death- despite the publicized tension.

That's big of them, but I think that the journalist means 'manner of death', as the cause of death is totally uncontroversial.

UGH. Oh me of picky people did not note that! Thanks! JMO

They would definitely seem guilty if they did argue his decision. Especially when they are no longer searching for suspects.

I think that if there was a black-out (information cover-up or spin) it was done at someones order. Perhaps if it becomes another investigation, some or most could claim duress. That is putting the cart before the horse, though. Just a thought. JMO

Agree. They may love LT but how far would they go to help a fallen comrade without risking their pensions.

As I mentioned before, I suspect that the "sources close to the investigation" leaks have come from task force and or fellow PD, trying to move this along, gently. Maybe I'm way off,but that's what I think. They, in my opinion, want this charade to end. JMO

This may have been mentioned but does anyone think it's oincidence that September is suicide prevention month?

Support still running strong in the community. Some of it from today's high school homecoming parade. First one of a high school initiated Fox Lake/Lt. Joe social group that has formed. Last one of his? Explorer group. More support signs on other floats as well.

Yes, I'd guess it was a coincidence. Most people don't follow that stuff. And whether we're talking about a LEO investigating, or about a LEO committing suicide, I don't expect that in that situation anyone would have been thinking about symbolic months. But I appreciate your thought.

Did you look at his credentials? He is certified by NAME (National Assoc of M E s)
ETA: Not exactly sure why the hmmm... that he is a pathologist when many jurisdictions will not accept a ME unless he is a pathologist.

Per Wiki-
Qualifications for medical examiners in the US vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Some do not require any medical training. In most jurisdictions, a medical examiner is required to have a medical degree, although in many this need not be in pathology. Other jurisdictions have stricter requirements, including additional education in pathology, law, and forensic pathology.

As I have pointed out he has NAME certification and has the stricter requirment of being a pathologist.

Wow, the fact a coroner may not require medical training blows my mind.
Are coroner and ME interchangeable, the same?

Agree. Csi shows made me believe that all coroners had to be certified in all areas to notice different causes for different possible things.

I didn't see all the answers to my question until after I posted it - ha!
When that happens, I tell myself at least I ask the right questions!

Asking anybody who might know the answer, did the Coroner achieve his goal (since he was elected in 2012) of getting the office elevated to the level he'd prefer it to be? (Sorry I'm vague, all the correct terminology is explained on the previous page.)
Sounds to me, Rudd desires to run a tight and proper ship - which is good imo.

About LE being disjointed when calling for help - the military developed a school we used to call "joint school".
Anyway, my husband went through the military program.

Do law enforcement, firefighters, coroners, along with other elected officials (for instance, someone pointed out the Mayor made a public statement about this case), have programs to help coordinate and/or separate the various roles since they often overlap?

I wouldn't be surprised if LE people, Coroners and such are aware of special awareness months. Sometimes I think certain professional groups arrange special events, such as runs, to promote awareness of different dangers.
Groups working with the public, where safety is involved, may be more aware because they become involved more often with the aftermath.

Personally, I'd be severely depressed if LE was more inclined to do their job because of some sort of promotion month,

I'm from LE family and the only thing I know they're aware of is full moons...lol

If you followed the Adventures of Drew Peterson you might remember that the coroner originally involved in the death of Kathleen Savio was an elected non medical (I think he owned a funeral parlor) person who used a 'coroner's jury' to establish the manner of death of Kathleen. In that case, one member of the jury was also a police officer who knew Drew Peterson. Hence, her death in an empty bathtub was originally ruled a suicide.

Yes, I have read of other cases where a death was originally determined to be a suicide that was changed to murder. It's usually when the police find new evidence. It's tough though. I am a believer n the totality or preponderance of evidence rather Than having everything hinge on someone's " expert" opinions. The Melissa K. Or C. Case involving Rudd concerns me for this very reason.

Didn't follow the case, but didn't Rudd testify with x-ray or cat scan evidence, that the baby had a previous head trauma (brain) injury? JMO...........thus rendering his expert opinion?
