Just one data point- it's probably different in the Fox Lake area since the word seems to be throwing folks, but in my neck of the woods (general NYC area) lots of places serve what's referred to as breakfast sandwiches (egg and cheese on a bagel etc.) or buttered rolls, both of which I've referred to "sandwiches" in the morning, -as in, "I'm heading over to the bodega for coffee, anyone want a muffin or sandwich?" so the first thing I thought of was one of those, not a burger.

His story creates a little curiosity as to why, if they open at 8:00, someone would come in and then leave again to go out for a sandwich instead of stopping for it on his way to work.
The explanation he may have come in earlier would be one reason but still.
The story isn't just simple such as he was inside the building so he didn't hear or notice anything - ya know?
The story has to be he was outside the building for the purpose of buying a sandwich but saw the car but didn't hear anything due to industry noise.
On top of that, most curious, PC has cameras but they don't work.

A few years back there was a problem with PC spilling or depositing (not sure how or why) toxic materials.
What was the outcome and how was the problem solved?

In 1985, Precision Chrome reported a spill containing chromium from a leak in the condensate return system. Because of the spill, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) sampled the non-contact cooling water that was being returned to the pond, soil from the area around the ventilation system, and soil from the southeast corner of the building. [2]

In February 1986, a water sample was taken from the recharge well on the site. In March 1986, cooling water from the on-site pond was sampled and chromium VI was found. Sodium bisulfate was added to the cooling water impoundment to change the chromium VI to less-toxic chromium III. In July 1986, another sample was collected from the cooling water impoundment. Illinois EPA also sampled two ponds on private residential property south of the site in 1986. [2]

In 1987, Precision Chrome reported a spill of about 200 gallons of chromic acid on the northeast portion of the property. Thirty cubic yards of soil were excavated and removed after the spill. Subsequently, Illinois EPA sampled the recharge well water and non-contact cooling water. [2]

In August 1990, the site was placed on the Comprehensive Environmental Resource Compensation and Liability Inventory System (CERCLIS) list due to the potential risk to public health and the surrounding environment. [1] In October 1991, water samples were collected from the recharge well, the non-contact cooling water discharge pipe, and cooling water from the pond on the site. A sediment sample was also collected from the cooling water pond. [1]

In 1992, Illinois EPA conducted a Comprehensive Environmental Resource Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) screening site inspection report. Soil, sediment, and water samples were collected from various areas on and off the site.[2] There are currently eleven groundwater monitoring wells on the site (Attachment 3). These wells have been sampled quarterly since February 1995. [3]

In March 1997, a groundwater extraction and containment system was installed. The system used a submersible, centrifugal pump installed in extraction well one (EW-1), which is 60 feet deep and 6 inches in diameter. The pump rate was 30 gallons per minute, and the extracted water was piped to the Village of Fox Lake's sanitary sewer. The system was shut down in May 1997 because the levels of chromium VI in the effluent exceeded the maximum daily amount allowed by the Village of Fox Lake's sanitary sewer system permit. [4] Precision Chrome would like to have the discharge permit modified, but Illinois EPA has denied this request.

CONCLUSIONS
Based on the information reviewed, IDPH concludes that a public health hazard may exist from the contamination at the Precision Chrome site. Groundwater on the site is contaminated with lead, manganese, and chromium, including chromium VI. IDPH does not currently know if the private and public drinking water wells on and near the site have been contaminated by site related activities. Some wells in the area were sampled; however, chromium was not analyzed in these samples. The contamination present on the site and in the groundwater may migrate to drinking water wells in the area.

Ugh, and it's on the Illinois Superfund Sites list. We're all too familiar with Waukegan's history.

Yikes, not a few years but a few decades ago! Now what?
Haven't gone into the link yet - has there been a solution since 1997, eighteen years ago?

The root beer is good there. Not a big fan of the Coney sauce, but your typical family-owned small-town drive-up still with car hop service and decent greasy food. Cruise nights on summer weekends and local bands entertaining. But I digress....

I get my double cheeseburger plain.
IMHO Coney sauce or anything else only gets in the way.

The Super Dog's also really good, they're made with Chicago Red Hot brand dogs,I get those with everything (Chicago Dog Style) No Ketchup!

Night Train,

Any opinion on the ambush theory from earlier? Be curious to your take on it.

Okay then, how have the good people of Fox Lake been holding up since 1998?

Also I read about the sewage system that was needed in 1979 due to sewage spilling into the lake.
It was the summer of 1978 that I spent the most time water skiing in the lakes around there - Yuk!

The Fox Lake Village Hall Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting is cancelled that was scheduled for
October 22, 2015.
Any ideas why they keep cancelling routine meetings?

Potentially Breaking News. Call it what you want. But I read out that there was a search warrant issued for a FL PD Officer. Anyway, I did some checking around and it does look like that could be the same person.

Officer initials is "TO". We know he was the one terminated and then rehired. Look in Lake County Court Records. October 13th, 2015

I was able to match the middle initial to the other case involving him, with Fox Lake. Wow.

Cubs are going to the NLCS! Who can focus on meetings right now?

Seriously though I have no idea. Someone's not ready, or sick, or just had a baby. Or someone doesn't want to talk about something.

Just a search warrant? No arrest warrant?
For his person or belongings?
Wonder what case it is in reference to...

That is a great question!!
Considering it lists 3 documents:
Search Warrant
Inventory
Order

Inventory I think is usually associated with an arrest or impoundment. Anyone?

Circuit Clerk's Office
Case Code Letter and Category Outline

Miscellaneous Remedy
Search Warrant (complaint for search warrant not related to pending case)

How I read that is the LT is still an ongoing investigation, doesn't have a court case yet, no charges?? Thanks for looking up. Very interesting.

Confused because I can't read it, but if this is about T>O>, this warrant may be separate from a case he may be involved in which is pending. This may have to do with PD inventory. Dunno, not enough info. JMO (wasn't he re-hired as a training instructor) JMO
...Whatever they are looking for will be listed on the search warrant...JMO

Case status: Closed

TypicAlly means this item was dealt with by the court on that date and was closed. It is administrative.

In the case of a search warrant I would think it means the search was conducted and the warrant is no longer valid. Or the warrant was no longer valid and never used.

It really doesn't mean much without knowing what other action was previously taken.

Eta: just wanted to add that it does not mean a case is closed. It means the court dealt with that item to the end. It also could be they issued a warrant and are administratively done so in court speak they mark it closed.

"WGN shows that Gold Shield Detective Agency charged the town $25,000 of work;*118 hours for investigating the now resigned police chief for how he handled a case where an officer allegedly abused a man in custody; and,*160 hours for a review of the police department's assets and equipment..."

They spent more time investigating the equipment? That must be one messy set of inventory bookkeeping....
