Are we sure it was depression she suffered from? Or could it have possibly been bipolar disorder or schizophrenia?
Why I am asking is because we are trying to put a logical spin on a person who may or may not have been acting logical at all. All three of those mental illnesses could cause illogical behavior.
If she and Timmothy were just out for a happy, spontaneous vacation, what was it that set her off? Was there an impending divorce? Was she afraid of losing custody of Timmothy due to her mental illness? Was she afraid the boy's father/her husband was somehow abusing Timmothy?
I have heard of several cases where the mother thought the (divorced or soon to be) father was abusing the child and the mother hides the child, refuses to tell where the child is and goes to jail. If that was the case, why kill yourself?
I can't imagine someone she talked to on the phone is harboring that boy. It defies logic if they have identified all the phone numbers. With the mother sadly not a factor anymore, if there was abuse, a grandparent or other relative could advocate in court for Timmothy.
I wish I could be as hopeful as some of the other posters here. I hope I am wrong and Timmothy is found alive.
