We don’t know what time he was out there or where out there he specifically was.

Well it would have been around that time frame or why would he be worried about being seen?

He could hardly claim he was out on the trails at 11am for example as that would make zero sense if somebody had seen him at 2ish for example.

Most of our discussion here involves our own curiosity about the crime or our personal ideas of how justice should play out. Very little concern and real consideration about the community of Delphi emanates from these discussions especially the constructive variety. JMO

And IMO we are becoming increasingly involved in establishing doubt in the prosecution’s ability which clouds the efforts of law enforcement as well.

It has been a very long 5 year stretch and things are not playing out as we hoped because we, at least I, really hoped we would learn ‘what happened’. How did those two girls end up dead after what seemed like a normal day on the trails and not the sordid details either? How could things go so terribly wrong (because the answers might help us keep ourselves or others safe)?

According to the case docket, the eleven broadcasters pushing the legal process to unseal the PCA seem to have filed their motion to become intervenors in the case today. At least that's my understanding; perhaps a US attorney could clarify?

Right? This sealed and secret style of justice makes it seem like RA is being completely railroaded on weak “evidence”. I am not a fan of this approach at all. It does not inspire confidence in law enforcement’s assertion that they got their man.

Also, in the statement issued today by the prosecution, I could not help but notice that they have worded it to say that they believe RA “was involved in” the murders of the girls. Involved in how? Involved may end up being he helped clean the scene or he drove the get away car. This doesn’t seem to say he caused their deaths.

I still think they charged with with murder under the law, but the section of the law they used seems to indicate he was perhaps involved in some other criminal activity and the kids ended up dead - perhaps he didn’t pull the actual trigger as it were but was involved. Either way the kids are still dead and anyone involved should be held accountable but I sure would like clarification here.

How does the community feel any safer knowing that LE believes RA was involved? Who else may still be out there as a danger to them and their kids??
To answer your question "involved in, how?" more or less demands some level of speculation since we don't have access to the PCA. However, based on the statute it means they believe he was involved in at least one of these other activities in the course of their murders.

Statute 35-42-1-1(2): Murder

kills another human being while committing or attempting to commit arson, burglary, child molesting, consumer product tampering, criminal deviate conduct (under IC 35-42-4-2 before its repeal), kidnapping, rape, robbery, human trafficking, promotion of human trafficking, sexual trafficking of a minor, or carjacking

If I had to guess, I'd say whatever it was LE saw and heard on that video that the public has not seen, is a clear cut case of at least kidnapping by ordering them down the hill by some sort of threat or force. We know they were walking on the bridge immediately prior to encountering him, so where they ended up, deceased, was clearly not their choice but his.

All of that of course is completely speculative.

The defense attorney is doing what defense attorneys do IMO.

It's a win for his client's "look" either way.

If the judge keeps it sealed, the defense can crow that it's weak ...

If the judge releases it, the defense can rest assured it'll be redacted like crazy and they can still crow that it's weak.

Thing is, that doesn't make it weak.

And for me, it wasn't because he was afraid of being caught driving with a suspended license when he was at the transfer station earlier that morning (before the murders) and didn't feel he needed to cover his behind at that time, only between 2:00-2:30 which is when things went down.

Except we're only reading a snippet of what may have occurred. They are only submitting information that backs up their submission for a search warrant, there's no need to mention where he was earlier in the day or if RL offered an alibi. I'm sure LE asked him specifically where he was at the 2-2:30 hours, especially in the beginning. If I was RL, I wouldn't volunteer that I was also out earlier that day.

The "why" of his arrest is contained in the probable cause affidavit. The judge has ruled that it will remain sealed. We are all chomping at the bit to see this evidence, but LE and prosecutor don't want anything released to public and media.

For now, the public will have to take McLeland at his word; the documents remain under seal as Judge Fran Gull tries to decide whether to release the full probable cause affidavit or a redacted version. She could also decide to keep those records under wraps.

Respectfully bolded & underlined by me.
The bolded is what I was hoping to see a source for when I requested a link.
The underlined part is the latest status that I was aware of. Perhaps I didn’t understand what you meant the first time.
Thanks

I wouldn't blame them. They weren't allowed to speak in court, were they?

Absolutely! I think they have clear evidence he was involved in some part of the crime. I hope we eventually find out more about it. I wasn’t so much looking for speculation as pointing out that we do not know what we do not know. :)

Why is Abby’s family not so in the limelight?

BBM-Judge Gull made her decision? Do you have a link please? I am in Ft. Wayne area and have not seen it on social media news sites.

OT, but oh so local:

@twall , Ho Ho WOWO! to you!

I lived in Marion during junior high, and have driven through Delphi -- before the Hoosier Heritage Highway.

Anna Williams has given plenty of interviews. Families can choose how much and how they decide to interact with the public. The reason why is nothing we are entitled to or could possibly understand unless we were in their position.

Wasn’t implying anything. Just wondered why they seem less involved in the spotlight. That’s all

I've been so busy the last few days so not been able to catch up properly. From what I have read though, I'm really confused. Am I right that the prosecution have stated they believe others were involved ? And that the PC is remaining sealed ? TIA

IMO, I agree the girls were kidnapped prior to being murdered. So I can not understand why Allen hasn't been charged with kidnapping the girls...Makes no sense. Anyone have any ideas?

Allen has only been charged with "Felony Murder". The only thing I can gather is that Allen is NOT Bridge Guy, but was involved in some other way with the events which led to Libby and Abby's deaths.

No, there is no ruling yet.

I think someone made a statement that was supposed to be a question (maybe?)

How do I contact a mod to ask about whether a book is an approved source (or to make sure it cannot be come one)?

Click the blue word Report in the lower right hand corner of your post, and type your question in the box that pops up.

Works great!
