I remember the Mickey Shunick case. People studying the video of her... Many WS-ers saw things of importance (things I didn't pick up on)... And, LE noticed these things, also. So, I don't sit in judgment on speculation (well, not too much, anyway ;))

Ha, you've been reading the image thread. ;-)

I haven't, but "kitchen sink" must be there! Lol

You say "punisher skull", and I say "pixel". :)

So LE would have searched, LE would have dash cam and cctv footage, LE would have told us exactly what he was wearing, driving, exactly where he parked, whether they have any suspects in mind, etc.
Well I don't think they have had a clue. I think they wasted time on the POI's and lost focus, now they are back tracking and going back to the beginning. Yet still no cause or time of death, just releasing one more word "guys" and asking about a vehicle and releasing an old sketch from two years ago. I don't understand the direction they are going in TBH.

Regarding SM. It may have been dismissed early in this case but LE has made a turn in the direction they had been taking. We don’t know why or what that turn is other than a new sketch, info wanted on a driver of a car parked at the CPS building on the 13th and the killer used the word “guys”. SM could be back in the picture.

Not only do I see a puppy, but I can tell it’s a mixed breed - lab/husky with one blue eye.
In what photo are you seeing this? Can you please share a link to a good quality photo. TIA if you can.

I can only remember seeing the one from the 23rd when, at that point, they'd not found a link. If there's been an update then I missed it.

I know that people have ruminated on the girls' social media followers, but what keeps me from seeing a link between SM and their murders is that the timeframe just seems so tight. There's been nothing released to show that anything was mentioned in their social media about going to the park. It's not even been "leaked" as a rumor. In the beginning, though, I really did think that there would be a connection.

Any possibility that LE could have requested a blackout for either of/both of the girls' SM accounts? (i. e., a specific "window" of time, say, 24-28 hours leading up to the unanswered calls on Libby's cell phone?) If there were such a SM "blackout" of their SM accounts at LE's request -- to preserve evidence, presumably -- then perhaps no one else could view either of the girls' SM accounts. Just a theory, and MOO.

Hey guys. Been lurking for a month. Became aware of the case after the April, 2019 press conference. I’m now an obsessive reader of these forums. I’m from Indiana but not close to Delphi and have some limited experience dealing with the communications end of the ISP.

I’ve read the threads and opinions and keep coming back to The Shack reference. Only an opinion obviously, but I believe the PC was 100% scripted. I think, contrary to what I’ve read here, that even the emotion was not impromptu. (I do think that he lost his place a few times and clearly screwed up the date, but that every word and nuance was calculated.) I wonder if that during the investigation, a POI or someone who might know BG, has mentioned The Shack or the plot line. I think this reference was hyper targeted at one person or group of people in hopes of getting a reaction and showing ISP’s change in strategy.

The other (completely out there) thought: the younger suspect may be a bit of a deviant with extreme sexual fantasies and urges. I’ve read on one of the threads that there has been activity at all times of the day/night at the cemetery near the park. Is this a place where people meet for untoward, intimate and secret activities? Did BG frequently go here to meet up and act out his non violent fantasies? Did OBG encounter NBG and hope for an encounter? Was NBG frustrated and needing to act out? Is the car they were inquiring about OBG? Was it some kind of company car? Was it where NBG would sit and watch people thinking of his fantasies? Did BG see these two young girls and act on the opportunity? (Trying not to be graphic, but I think you get where I’m going.)

I’ve read so much here about organized/disorganized killers, BG planning this out, wearing protective clothing, etc. Could it be that this is a frustrated, confused, hyper sexual, preditorial type of personality that couldn’t feed his desires. He sees these two and tries something, but these youth fight back and it escalates to the tragedy that we now know.

Thanks for letting me get this stream of consciousness out. It’s infuriating. This person is a monster. I want him caught before his itch needs scratched again.

Welcome. I concur with @gregjrichards ; great first post!

Agree. It's a flash of white set against something dark that may or may not be black and of which the white may or may not be attached to. If it was identifiable as a picture or logo (someone saw the letter "P" on it and thought it might be a Purdue t-shirt) then I think that's something that would've been denoted by LE.

It's interesting to speculate on it, but the quality of the image is so low that it really can't be seen so it's not worth arguing about.

Cigarette smoke (or possibly vaping smoke) comes to mind.

He may well be wearing one, but I can't see such detail in the picture. I see a flash of white which has had much speculation. Some see it as a balaclava, but others see it as something else.

Much as been said about it being a nice day on the 13th and especially that BG was overdressed. 40 degrees isn't mild to me, it's cold. I think the weather is going to be something that's subjective. For me that day was chilly, and it gets especially cold and windy up there on the bridge since there isn't anything to block the breeze.
One of the grandfathers, in an interview, said it had gotten up to 60* that day. I can't remember which interview, may someone else does?

This historical weather site says it got up to 45, which is darn warm if you are used to the winter cold.

Weather in February 2017 in Delphi, Indiana, USA

For the record, all I've said is that temperature is subjective and what's "warm" to one person may be "chilly" to someone else. I said this in reference to the idea of BG being "overdressed" or wearing something for warmth.

I don't recall anyone stating that it was 60, though. I've only seen references to the mid 40s, as this link states.

Lots of great discussion going on with everyone's different viewpoints!

I think that many of us at one point in time or another have experienced a 'tunnel vision' (for lack of a better phrase) of sorts on this case.

When a person is laser-focused on a specific detail (ie: gun in the right pocket, blue-eyed puppy or a two-headed goat inside the jacket etc.) you cannot 'unsee' what you are convinced is there and you may not wish to see what others think is there as well.

I know am guilty of it!

I cannot 'unsee' what I believe he has in his right pocket, down his left pant leg, and inside his right leg and what I 'think' must be in his coat. The guy surely must have weighed 300 pounds with all that!

I am convinced I am right. Chances are, I am not.

The important thing I have learned is not to discount what others suggest as possibilities because you may miss something that may be important along the way.

Yes, yet hands in pockets?

Cigarette either pitched off the bridge, and then he exhaled; or, he had it clamped between his teeth.

I am always amazed (and amused) by smokers who can talk well as they hold a cigarette between their lips, or dangling from one corner of their mouth.

I found it. MP actually said it was 60 plus degrees out. At right around the 4 minute mark.

Just another (local) version which begins with the weather and ends with sleuthers....

4/22/19 as told by D Bangert of the Journal & Courier

DELPHI, Ind. – It’s been 26 months since Abby Williams and Liberty German, friends and eighth-graders at Delphi Community Middle School, went missing and a day later were found killed. Here’s a timeline of events tied to the unsolved double homicide.

Feb. 13, 2017: Abby Williams and Libby German were reported missing after they failed to meet a family member who came to pick them up after an afternoon of hiking on the wooded Monon High Bridge trail, just northeast of Delphi. The eighth-graders were using the day off from Delphi Community Middle School to walk to the Monon High Bridge, an abandoned railroad trestle 63 feet high, on an unseasonably warm Monday. Police and volunteers searched the trails and areas near Deer Creek until things were called off because of darkness.

Feb. 14, 2017: Around noon, during a massive search involving police and volunteers, two bodies are found about a half-mile from Monon High Bridge. Police don’t confirm the identities but say they have reason to suspect foul play. More than 700 people turn out for a prayer vigil that night at Delphi United Methodist Church.

Feb. 15, 2017: Police confirm that the bodies found were those of Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty German, 14. Police say they are investigating the case as a double homicide. Police also release a grainy picture of a man on the Monon High Bridge the day the girls disappeared. A few days later, police say the man in the photo is considered a suspect.

Feb. 18, 2017: Delphi Community High School hosts a public visitation for the girls. Earlier in the day, an estimated 4,000 motorcyclists cruised through Delphi during a memorial ride for Williams and German.

Feb. 22, 2017: Police reveal that German used her cellphone to record video and audio of the suspect. They release a snippet of audio of a man saying, “Down the hill,”hoping someone will recognize the voice. Indiana State Police Sgt. Tony Slocum says of the clue German left behind: “This young lady is a hero, there is no doubt. "To have enough presence of mind to activate that video system on her cellphone, to record what we believe is criminal behavior that's about to occur." The reward offered in the case hits $41,000. Investigators say briefings in the case have been shared twice with FBI Director James Comey and daily with Gov. Eric Holcomb. By the end of the week, investigators report that they’d received nearly 10,000 tips in the case.

March 9, 2017: Mike Patty, Libby German’s grandfather, in an effort to keep attention on the case, makes a plea for the public to take another look at the picture of the man on the bridge and to listen to the audio clip. Police report that 25 local, state and federal agencies were involved in the investigation. The reward fund surges to more than $200,000.

May 7, 2017: A group of Delphi congregations organize a community trail day, with 100 people walking the Monon High Bridge trail the girls hiked the day they were killed. “The reality is that evil happened here, and so we want to reclaim this ground,” said the Rev. Todd Ladd, pastor of Delphi United Methodist Church.

May 13, 2017: The community hosts Abby & Libby Celebration of Life at Delphi Community High School, with concerts, an auction and raffles meant to raise money for a softball complex planned in memory of the girls.

July 17, 2017: Indiana State Police release a composite sketch of the suspect. The portrait was drawn by an FBI sketch artist, based on what police described as “recent information” from a witness who saw the suspect about the time of the girls’ deaths. Police also give a description of the suspect: a white male between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10, weighing 180 to 200 pounds, with reddish brown hair and an unknown eye color.

July 19, 2017: Indiana State Police try to stop what they call amateur sleuthing, as people post photos of men who look like the suspect in the sketch on social media sites. “They are placing themselves in legal jeopardy, and they are doing absolutely nothing to help the investigation,” Capt. Dave Bursten, ISP's chief public information officer, said. Police continue to make similar pleas as the investigation rolls on.
