If there had been a blind adoption, how would they progress? It’d be entirely possible that no one in the biological line had ever been near Delphi.

I suppose they could work the other way, trying to figure who, in Delphi, had been adopted. That would certainly make for an interesting line of questioning.

A blind adoption doesn't mean all records of that child's lineage are destroyed. If they can trace a homicide to a relative of Jim Joe, you can bet they'll trace the blind adoption of Jim Joe's sister, Betty Joe, through state records in a matter of weeks, to figure out from where that baby came.

Supt. Carter gave a couple more clues in the pc when he stressed
the feeling of "Power" the perp felt and that the girls were no
longer like they were left at the scene.
Here's a good article written by a retired NYPD homicide detective
who discusses the 'power' felt by perps who either manually strangle victims or by ligature also. He also discusses the
"posing" or staging of bodies after death of victims and what that means.

Thank you for posting this Greg. As our Mods instruct, let us contact the tip line vs. post anything substantive here.

Despite a five year difference and a six hour drive, I believe when this case is solved; the case of Lyric and Lizzie is solved too.
Time will tell, but I'd say it' more than a chance.

Amateur opinion and speculation

Are there similarities between the cases? Do you have a link to Lyric and Lizzy's case? Thanks! TIA

HLN promo for their show on right now (no link, live tv):

Host says police have received over 1600 tips so far.

The lady that had been reporting from Delphi is in the studio and says she thinks they are close!

Thanks for the information. If the information is accurate, it looks the the religous references could have been calculated and not interjected from the strong emotions of the officer.
That’s what I thought and why I think the original drawing was dismissed after first seeming unlikely, but revisited based on some new information. MOO is that this has been mulling in BG’s brain for a few years but that he’s never done this before.

Is this OK or some dodgy site? Why can we watch HLN for free? (Hinky meter not wanting to get a virus)
Perfectly safe link. Well known msn.

What makes you believe that?

I agree with Betty. I tried to locate her original post.
The car license plate would reveal who the car is registered to or the previous owners. LE just runs the plate number, however, if the car was reported stolen or loaned it to a friend that day complicates matters. But pretty sure Le knew within 10 minutes the owner of the vehicle. I'm sure they interviewed the owner(s) already the same day on Feb.13th.

I don’t know how the system works—but I feel a little skepticism. I’d think they’d need a court order—and if they’re dealing with the usual third-cousin hit on GEDmatch—I’m not sure if a judge would sign off on that sort of violation of privacy. I’m a passionate enthusiast for genetic genealogy in crime-solving, but I know it’s not as easy and certain as we might hope. And in many adoptions, the father’s identity is undocumented or uncertain—there goes half the family tree, right there.

HLN is a major news network, of course I can not personally attest to the technical cleanliness of any link as I’m not looking at their code. You should be able to stream free.

Best Case Worst Case Delphi Murders Podcast

What would motivate someone to kill these teenage girls?

Jim Clemente gave three possibilities:

The majority of perpetrators who would do something like this are sexually motivated. That's probably the most likely motivation in this case.

Another motivation in child abduction/homicides is greed, where someone is murdered because that person is in the way of a relationship. (They cited Chris Watts' murder of his family because he wanted to be with a new woman as an example of this.)

Finally, some people have a lust for murder, and these are murders without a motive other than the desire to kill.

Later in the podcast, Jim Clemente said that even if this crime was sexual in nature, there may not have been DNA found. Jim clarified that when he said he thought this assault was sexually motivated, he doesn’t mean that it was necessarily a traditional sexual assault that would have produced semen for a rape kit. He discussed that there are many things that are sexual in nature for the offender but may not involve semen. Even if this offender had the intent to rape, he may not have been able to consummate the rape.

What medical issues do you think would cause someone not be able to function? Citizen X had this issue also.

I doubt it but, maybe stolen plates on the car.

I haven't gotten any pop ups or viruses yet, so I think you're good ;)
Host says police have received over 1600 tips so far.
Is this since the recent PC? If so that's amazing! Although I imagine the majority aren't useful...
