The whole thing stinks. If I (and most responsible parents I know) suddenly reclaimed my child I would certainly make sure the babysitter knew about it because I would expect any babysitter I would entrust my children with to be concerned if one was suddenly not there. It shouldn't matter to the babysitter what the six year olds said; he should have had questions for mom andmom should have had questions for him; but instead no one asks anything? Doesn't sit well with me. Either they are lying or they both view children as "after thoughts" who are not among their highest priority.

Not saying this is the case here, but this is fairly typical behavior for substance abusers.

Do we know anything about that in this case??

Yes, if he really said these things as reported, there HAVE to be some lies in there somewhere, because there is no way all of this makes sense when you put it together.

I am going to say that he is lying about the report that the younger sisters said she left with their mother (unless we want to assume that 3- and 8-year-old were lying to cover for their run-away 9-year-old sister). Because we know that the mother never saw her--"friend" tacitly admits to that in going along with the "miscommunication" theory.

Do we have the link to the statement about the girls' saying she left with her mom? I am going to check upthread, but if it isn't already posted, could someone locate it?

He said he smoked his cigar and went back to sleep about 6:30 a.m. He woke up about 10 a.m. when Aliahna&#8217;s mother called. After that call, he realized the door to the home was unlocked and that Aliahna was gone. He said Aliahna&#8217;s sisters, both 6 years old, told him that Aliahna had left with her mom.

The only way I can make this story make sense is to imagine that when the mom spoke to the friend, she told him she would be picking Aliahna up later to take her to the party (or whatever), so that when she was discovered to be gone a little later, the sisters said she must have gone with mom, and the friend assumed they actually saw her leave.

Just speculating.

One of the first articles I read said there were 30 trailers and 15 registered sex offenders where she lives.

I read that too, and was amazed that a family would willing live in such a place. Can only assume there are reasons...

Maybe they were simply worried the girls would get sick, about not exposing them to the flu... less about who took care of them.

I also have to say that the "why didn't she leave them with the STEPfather?" line is throwing me a bit. It's odd.
Usually we are saying "Another stepfather??? When will women learn that the boyfriend/stepfather is the most dangerous person to their child?"

But this time... people are angry that she left the kids (including her stepdaughter) with a family friend instead of the father/stepfather.
Yet, if they had been left with the stepfather... it'd be the usual... "another stepfather, when will women learn...." situation.

My poor brain can't handle the contradictions... it's spinning. :banghead:

If people are uncomfortable about stepfathers, how is a totally unrelated male a better choice?

Get out your salt because I don't have a link. IIRC, there was an apparent post from a neighbor in a news article comment section. The post went into great detail on how Aliahna had a nightmare, the girls calmed her down, then later she told the girls she was going to the party. Now the comments are gone and the comment section is disabled.

At least if the mother is living with the guy she can have some idea what's going on in the home.

But maybe her illness was a force majeure or this guy is really beyond all suspicion if you know him personally.

It's just that I wouldn't trust my children with someone who just up and leaves while the kids are asleep to go get some smokes and then sleeps through the day and is blithely unaware where all three kids even are.

I can't get past why Ana was sleeping in a chair....
why wasn't she in a bedroom? even single wide trailers i've been in have at least 2 bedrooms, usually 3, a master at one end, and then past the kitchen dining and living room area there is a hallway with a bathroom and 1 or 2 bedrooms down there......

When my friends kids spend the night, we put all boys in one room and let the girls take over another bedroom.... and the girls all sleep together sometimes spread out 2 in a bed, 1 on the floor or all 3 in 1 bed together, slumber party style....
Grandpa had just passed away... so i'm going to ASSume that g-pa still had a bed in his bedroom...
I dunno.. her sleeping in the chair bugs me...

Friday Dec 23

MP wakes at 6:00am, sees the children sleeping, deadbolts the door and goes to a nearby C-store for a cigar. Video confirms his presence.​
MP returns to find the kids still asleep. He smoked his cigar and went back to bed.​
MP woke again at about 10:00am when Alianhna&#8217;s mother called. Sometime after the call MP observed that the deadbolt was unsecured and that Aliahna was gone. He claimed Aliahna&#8217;s sisters, both 6 years old, told him that Aliahna had left.​
MP believed them. He relocked the door and went back to sleep until about 1:30 p.m.​
He said that when he woke up, he and the two other girls went about their day until about 8:30 p.m, when he talked to Aliahna&#8217;s mom and learned that Aliahna was not with her.​

Authorities were notified.​
Reportedly, Souders agreed with Plumadore&#8217;s version of what happened, labeling the mixup a miscommunication.​
Several family members have come forward to vouch for Mr Plumadore.​

I am not sure how her sleeping location would have any relevance. Aliahna and her two siblings were spending the night / week staying with a family friend -- so, three guest kids in one small trailer. Perhaps Aliahna was creeped out to sleep in grandfather's bed, or perhaps the two younger girls were sleeping there and she grabbed a couch. Lot's of possible explanations, and yet I cannot think of even a single one that raises any alarm bells with me.

Other parts of this story, sure, but not this.

Because she's special needs, she has a history of sleep walking and if she's in a chair, i'm assuming it's in a living room, which in trailers is by the front door.. not very smart if you're a responsible adult

those are just a couple reasons..
But it's MOO which i'm entitled to
