Sorry, trying to get it posted ASAP! Watauga County is in North Carolina. I'll go try and edit my post.

Is goblueridge.net MSM? How did Mr Frank get this information? Let's check...

Just saw this in our local news saying that MP WAS a sex offender.

http://www.goblueridge.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=14218

"Sheriff Len Hagaman said that Michael Plumadore was in Watauga and registered as a sex offender on November 29th of 2007 when found by a sex offender check, and found him to be a fugitive from Indiana at that time."

I can't find MP on the national sex registry. I am wondering if the article has it wrong. Still checking.

Having a FB account was really the least of this girl's problems. She was living in a trailer park full of sex offenders! Facebook has rules, she and her family did not follow them.

Well, you're so right and I know that. I was going to post that her not being properly supervised at home was the understatement of the year, but I didn't want to sound disrespectful or flippant given the outcome, so I deleted that part of my post.....

As someone else stated, these kids were being fed to the lions.

I checked NC and the national registry days ago and didn't find his info anywhere??

Hmmm... Grandma and perp both mention the sleepwalking that LE didn't buy. Why has Grandma been continually supportive of MP? :waitasec:

A registered sex offender, now charged with the unspeakable murder and dismemberment of a 9-year old, girl, has a history in Watauga County, North Carolina

Woot Woot!!!

where's that National Registry?

Wow...so Aliahna's parent/family...didn't put her in harm's way in deliberately moving to an unsafe location? Didn't move deliberately to a location that they knew had 15 registered sex offenders (since grampy was one) that would put all three children in harm's way knowing what the dangers were? And weren't ALARMED that her disappearance could be anything other than sleep-walking?

This is not about being poor and put upon and not having any decent choices...this is wanton, willful and egregious failure in protecting innocent children. JMO. I don't see how else to see it. I just don't.

Pulmadore is not listed on the NC or national sex offender registry, although we have to bear in mind that he might not have had a lifetime registration, and once an RSO's registration time is over, their names are removed from those databases.

I am thinking that the latest news article has the information wrong about grandma supporting MP. I feel they are combining what Grandma stated on Nancy Grace last night and just throwing it into an article.

I mentioned earlier that I highly doubt grandma would be supporting MP after MP confessed he did it. Just on that fact alone, I feel some of the media articles are just getting it wrong.

No, it is our local news up here in the high country. If we need to remove till further clarification is obtained then mods please do so. I posted as quickly as I saw but I can't find anything on the SO registry either. :waitasec:

Thanks. Great post. As always you give me something to think about and learn. On this topic my opinion is pretty well settled and I bet you would even agree with some of it.

I think we need to reevaluate how we classify, register and restrict these guys. Lifetime RSO status for a nineteen year old who had sex with his fifteen year old girlfriend seems a bit over the top, as does labeling as sex offenders middle school boys who peek up girls dresses or try to sneak a kiss (I have read news accounts of ridiculous crap like this), or the guy arrested for going to the bathroom outside. We have all seen stories like this, and uncommon or not (I have no idea) they diminish the value of these lists, thin the attention of law enforcement, place unnecessary and unreasonable restrictions on lower status RSOs, and all too often force RSOs into hiding -- which is exactly what we don't want.

Finally, there is again the very real question of how well they actually work. Obviously, they do sometimes, and this would be a very tricky question to answer as a crime prevented is (obviously) unreported.

However, an argument could certainly be made that these lists might provide a false sense of security to parents and serve to direct attention away from the very people MOST likely to harm their child -- that child's own family and friends. LE isn't fooled, they know where to look after the fact, but the ideal solution is to stop the crime before it occurs. That means educating the public that the greatest danger to any child is listed not in the RSO registry, but in the address book on the parent's phone.

Anyway, thanks again for your post. :)

I agree with you on the classifications i.e. 19 year old and middle school boys.

Vigilance by parents is a must; if the lists are used in conjunction with common sense and prudent monitoring then it would reduce the risk.

In Megan's case, her mother Maureen had no idea that 3 sex offenders lived less than 50 feet away from her house. Her efforts and those of Jacob Wetterling's parents put in motion the registering/reporting criteria. I think that the missing step is in implementation of appropriate prosecuting and sentencing of offenders. These crimes have become rampant; we are hearing of more cases it seems. For those offenders who are convicted of murder I think an automatic death penalty is the answer.

I really like Wikipedia too but my professors never did. :)

they have either scooped MSM or they have it wrong.

OMG! TN and NC. I lived near Boone, NC and Watauga Co, at one time!! There is a prison near there. ASU is Appalachia State Univ.

OT: I've been racking my brain to remember who Sheriff Fries reminds me of....Randy Quaid. In his interview with Nancy he looks like he is freezing his hinnie off.
