GUILTY IN - Dominique Allen, 15, found dead, burned behind Indy home, 31 Aug 2014

Really horrible. :(

Lots of cases out of IN lately, it seems. I wonder of any of them could be connected (KK, JL)?

This caught my eye: "Detectives are combing registered sex offenders for possible leads and checking for reported runaways in case there are other victims." http://www.wbtw.com/story/26428574/police-slaying-of-teen-whose-body-burned-random

Very creepy and scary.
My first thought was that this was a sex crime. Some SO's burn their victims' bodies to destroy DNA evidence. I'm reminded of serial killer Anthony Kirkland in OH who was given death sentences for attempted rape, killing and burning the bodies of 2 teen girls. He was also convicted of raping, killing and burning the bodies of 2 women. This was after serving 16 years in prison for killing his girlfriend and burning her body. Learn more about AK here .....

My heart goes out to Dominique's family. I hope it's not too late for Karensha.

Geez.

That's horrific.

Under the circumstances it seems pretty odd they'd say they don't think she's in danger.

At least as strange, it seems like LE is saying it based on the comments of her family.

Which is even more strange, since in the same article saying her family doesn't think she's in danger (and thus LE is saying that apparently) there's also this:

Crystal Collins said she’s very concerned about her daughter’s safety.

“I haven’t heard from her, nobody has heard from her. She knows everybody’s number to call. We just don’t have any information,” Collins said.

Isn't that totally contradictory?

I mean, how is one "very concerned about her daughter's safety" yet also "don’t believe she’s in danger"?

Even if it's mom trying to be optimistic or something based on her apparently having run away before, unless she had run away when someone else that was a close friend of hers was brutally killed, I don't see how her family OR LE would possibly think the situations were the same.

And I don't see how in the world the statements of not thinking she's in danger AND yet being very concerned about her safety possibly fit.

Does LE think SHE killed her? Thus not being in danger since there isn't another perp out there so she's only in danger if she kills herself?

Do they know where she is and are somehow trying to trap someone by saying they don't think she's in danger? (I still don't really see how that would even fit, but...hey, trying to to come up with possibilities)

Otherwise it seems VERY irresponsible to dial down any concern about her (and likely public assistance in trying to find her) by saying they don't think she's in danger yet she apparently is still missing.

Aside from the fact that then there would still be a murderer out there and the person the victim was last seen with, in a strange twist of irony, went missing after last being seen with the victim. Which would seem like she could then possibly have been an eyewitness to the murder, which you'd think would actually put her in greater danger.

VERY, VERY strange.

Authorities have not confirmed the victim’s identity, but friends told FOX59 the 15-year-old girl was Dominque Allen.

http://fox59.com/2014/09/01/police-...rd-of-indianapolis-home-was-15-year-old-girl/

TY, from link,

“All I seen was a little wisp of smoke, and I assume the man was burning trash,” said Willie Hawkins, who lives across the street from Parks.
Detectives said the homeowner, Bradly Parks, was walking his dog when he discovered the girl’s body in his backyard. A charred mark still remains.

So there was a witness but no description yet? Wasn't the perp taking a chance burning the body in someone's backyard?

TY for link.

Was DA taken from her porch sometime after 4.00am on Sunday? Her sister, Mareeka Allen last saw her sister at this time. Witnesses say they last saw DA and KP together the Friday before, so no witnesses to them being together Sunday. Maybe, KP came over to DA place or vice versa? jmo

"Poindexter said her sister [Dominique Allen] wasn't the type to talk to strangers or get in a car with someone she didn't know. The victim had been staying with another sister, Mareeka Allen, and was last seen on the sister's porch about 4 a.m. Sunday."

http://www.wbtw.com/story/26428574/police-slaying-of-teen-whose-body-burned-random

"The mother of 16-year-old Karensha Phelps release a picture of her. The girl’s mother said that her daughter and Dominique were best friends and were always together. Both of them were last seen together Friday. Now, Phelps is no where to be found."

http://wishtv.com/2014/09/02/family-and-friends-search-for-missing-girl/

Fifteen-year-old Dominique Allen was discovered Sunday afternoon when police say a homeowner was walking his dog in the 1100 block of Elder Avenue.

http://wishtv.com/2014/09/02/coroner-releases-name-of-teen-found-dead-behind-home/

Something is off with the "last seen" timing here, especially since one is now deceased and the other missing. I can't even imagine :(

Oh no :( Her friend is missing, too?

http://fox59.com/2014/09/03/counselors-return-to-ben-davis-murdered-freshmans-friend-missing/

IMPD believes she was abducted by a stranger in a car around 5 a.m., then taken to a nearby abandoned home on 10th Street where she was strangled...

Karensha Phelps was last seen at Allen’s sister’s house. According to Collins, Allen was her daughter’s role model and they’d been friends since elementary school...

“If something happened to Dominique, KK (Karensha) would have surfaced by now,” said Collins. “We haven’t had a phone call. She has everybody’s number by heart. Maybe my daughter’s scared because she knew something, then something happened. Or maybe something happened to her or somebody has her. We just don’t know. My gut feeling is somebody has my baby or she’s scared and she knows something.”

Despite the fact that now things have taken a 180 over on the other thread (and supposedly the date she was last seen AND who she was last seen with are no longer - Friday and with her now dead friend) and she was supposedly missing prior yet seen by others since, and that she may be a repeat runaway, I'm increasingly thinking mom may be inadvertently letting on to the very likely truth that she seems to be simultaneously perhaps trying to cover up.

And that is the very last bit of what mom said:

"We just don’t know. My gut feeling is somebody has my baby or she’s scared and she knows something.”

http://www.wthr.com/story/26442215/...king-down-leads-in-15-year-olds-death-burning

Metro Police are gathering evidence in the case of a murdered Ben Davis freshman whose killer set her body on fire behind a west side home...

Detectives spent much of Wednesday tracking down what they knew was likely a false lead - social media postings purporting to be a person confessing to the murder. Again, police didn't think it was credible, but they couldn't rule anything out...

Meanwhile, the family of a close friend of Dominique who has been missing for several days said they received a text message from her Wednesday. Her mother later told WTHR's Jeremy Brilliant she thought the text was a hoax.

Missing friend of slain teen returns home

http://www.theindychannel.com/news/local-news/police-search-for-slain-teens-missing-friend

Indiana teen likely abducted, killed in ‘random’ attack before body set on fire: police

One of Allen's sisters, Shenika Poindexter, also spoke out with a stern warning to whomever is responsible for the young girl's horrific death.

"Whatever you do, wherever you go, justice is going to be served — in this life or the next. I don't care, they will hunt you until you die," she said amid tears.

Dominique and her family still remain heavy on my heart and mind. I know these things I think about are terribly upsetting but please think with me.
Purse found at 10th and Lynne - maybe there are finger prints?
Bag over head - What kind of bag and did it have logo?
Tied body - What kind of rope?
What kind of fuel was used? Any surveillance video from nearby gas stations around the time?
10th and Lynne abandoned house might have some evidence that Dominique was taken there. LE not saying, other than the purse and sandals in the backyard. Maybe some evidence in the in the house?
Why are investigators so sure this was random? I guess I have to answer myself and say that the family knows no reason for someone to do this to her. Which is good, cause that's hard to wrap one's mind around. On the other hand, if it was someone Dominique knew then perhaps it would be more likely to find the suspect. Random means look at people that did not know her. How are investigators going to find that person?
I know this is terrible but important. The man that found her body said she was tied up with bag over her head. I read that on a local TV station news report. I read somewhere but I'm not sure where that the burning was from the waist down, but please don't take that as truth as I think it was on social media maybe. *~* Certainly coroner tried for DNA.
So we have possible finger prints and DNA and maybe more. I hope LE finds this or these people very soon. My heart is so broken for Dominique and her family.

If this is a random attack, the prep would have to have rope, bag and gasoline with in their vehicle. Oh wait, no at 8:00 a.m. someone enters the local Walmart and purchases rope, goes to the gas pumps and get gas and then uses the WallMart bag to cover our poor victim's head! It would be nice if things were that simple. There's either a prep out there looking for victims or someone that should be figured out easily. Hopefully, LE knows more than my in vain humble opinion. Praying for the investigators and DA's family.

ITA. Whenever I hear that fire is involved in a crime, I automatically assume that the perp is trying to destroyed DNA evidence.

Social media offers police helpful clues, bogus claims
Justin L. Mack, Indianapolis 9:42 p.m. EDT September 7, 2014

On Tuesday morning, shortly after a burned body found in the 1100 block of North Elder Avenue was identified as 15-year-old Dominique Allen, posts claiming responsibility for the homicide began to surface on the Instagram account of an Indianapolis teen.

With the help of Facebook and Twitter, members of the public notified the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department about the online claims.

IMPD Sgt. Kendale Adams said investigators later determined that the posts were fiction, and the teen who created the Instagram account is not believed to be involved with Allen's death.

Sisters of brutally murdered teen vow to keep up search for killer
POSTED 11:23 PM, SEPTEMBER 6, 2014, BY LIZ GELARDI, UPDATED AT 09:13AM, SEPTEMBER 7, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 6, 2014) – Sisters of a murdered teen hope a stack of flyers will bring their family closer to justice. Sunday will mark one week since Dominique Allen’s burned body was found. Police believe the 15-year-old was abducted, strangled and set on fire. They are calling her killing a random act.

Read more (and video) at ....

http://fox59.com/2014/09/06/sisters-of-brutally-murdered-teen-vow-to-keep-up-search-for-killer/

Here is a map of the distance (1½ mi.) from DA's sister's house
(approx.) to the abandoned house where she was taken:

https://goo.gl/maps/yXSbj

I would think investigators are looking at neighbors and particularly any squatters in the neighborhood. Someone was familiar with the location of abandoned houses in the area. I think the perp may have been
somewhat acquainted with Dominique. I wonder if she went to her sister's house often.

LE should especially be looking closely at RSO's in the neighborhood, IMO.

Murdered teen’s family gets help

Funeral arrangements for Dominique Allen are still pending, but the family is getting some help from a community group.

Last month someone murdered the 15-year-old before burning half of her body. A man walking his dog later found her body behind his house.

http://wishtv.com/2014/09/11/family-of-murdered-teen-asks-for-support-with-funeral-costs/

The family of a teen murdered last month is making a plea for help.

Dominique Allen’s sisters say they were not prepared for the emotional toll her killing has taken on the family. They also were not ready financially to lay the 15-year-old to rest.

“Nobody plans to bury a child. No one,” Shenika Poindexter, Dominique Allen’s sister, said.

Poindexter and her sister Mareeka Allen say they want to give Dominique the funeral she deserves.

Thank you for posting this Imamaze. I can't imagine what Dominique's family is going through!

After all this time, they still have yet to bid her a proper farewell. I hope the community responds, not only to this request for help, but with the answers to what happened.

Someone knows something.
