Under the circumstances it seems pretty odd they'd say they don't think she's in danger.
At least as strange, it seems like LE is saying it based on the comments of her family.
Which is even more strange, since in the same article saying her family doesn't think she's in danger (and thus LE is saying that apparently) there's also this:
Crystal Collins said she’s very concerned about her daughter’s safety.
“I haven’t heard from her, nobody has heard from her. She knows everybody’s number to call. We just don’t have any information,” Collins said.
Isn't that totally contradictory?
I mean, how is one "very concerned about her daughter's safety" yet also "don’t believe she’s in danger"?
Even if it's mom trying to be optimistic or something based on her apparently having run away before, unless she had run away when someone else that was a close friend of hers was brutally killed, I don't see how her family OR LE would possibly think the situations were the same.
And I don't see how in the world the statements of not thinking she's in danger AND yet being very concerned about her safety possibly fit.
Does LE think SHE killed her? Thus not being in danger since there isn't another perp out there so she's only in danger if she kills herself?
Do they know where she is and are somehow trying to trap someone by saying they don't think she's in danger? (I still don't really see how that would even fit, but...hey, trying to to come up with possibilities)
Otherwise it seems VERY irresponsible to dial down any concern about her (and likely public assistance in trying to find her) by saying they don't think she's in danger yet she apparently is still missing.
Aside from the fact that then there would still be a murderer out there and the person the victim was last seen with, in a strange twist of irony, went missing after last being seen with the victim. Which would seem like she could then possibly have been an eyewitness to the murder, which you'd think would actually put her in greater danger.
VERY, VERY strange.
