From the above linked article.

........Sweet was out on bond for unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and possession of methamphetamine. A needle was found on him when he was rescued. Sheriff Matt Myers previously said the needle would lead to the 72-hour hold.

An autopsy for Emma was conducted in Columbus on Monday. Results have not yet been released.....

ETA: Mugshot

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if he's out on bond and was just caught with narcotics his bond would be revoked and he goes back to county.

So...he leaves with Emma Wednesday, Mom reports them missing on Thursday (which was Thanksgiving here in the US), but he isn't found until Friday morning, submerged in water. Where were they between Weds. and Fri am? He could not have been passed out in a vehicle submerged in water all that time?

Jeremy Sweet charged in daughter's death | wthr.com.

Police spoke with a woman who said she last saw Sweet on Wednesday, Nov. 24. When police later asked Sweet about this, he admitted to using meth and marijuana before going to the casino in Shelbyville on Friday, Nov. 24.

Preliminary findings from Emma's autopsy report could not determine if hypothermia or drowning was the cause of her death.

More from your link:

Sweet was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment. There, he told a detective he got lost after making a wrong turn, and when he drove up onto an embankment, his truck got stuck. When he was trying to free it, he said it went too far forward and into the water.

Court documents say Sweet told a detective he put Emma on the roof or hood of the truck, then held her for a while before later waking up and she
was gone.

Do they mean Friday Nov 26? So they went missing Wednesday? Then Thursday they were reported missing. Then Friday they (assuming Emma was with him) went to a casino? Into the river shortly after that and found?

Why does the timeline seem so wonky?

How were he and Emma reported missing Thursday if he went to a casino on Friday?

Sweet's wife, reported him and their daughter, Emma, missing on Thursday, Nov. 25 after they hadn't been seen since the previous afternoon.

On Friday, Nov. 26, a group of hunters saw Sweet in the back of his truck that was submerged in the river. They helped him to shore. At the time, he did not mention anything about anyone else in the truck.
