Good grief, what does a bottle of water have to do with it? Just embellishment courtesy of the defense attorney for contrast purposes. Sounds like he could have used some hydration for the purpose of having his brain functioning. And I thought the family had lunch on the ship shortly after boarding.
I was under the impression this happened late in the day? I personally don't think he was drunk or under the influence of any drug. JMOO

The colorblind excuse is going NOWHERE. Who cares if he’s colorblind or not.... 1/3 of the window was still in the frame in front of him! THE WINDOW WAS NOT EVEN COMPLETELY OPEN!

It was NOT an “empty hole in a wall of glass” that the family and Winkleman have been claiming for weeks.
Color blindness would not have prevented him from seeing a half-opened window. This is a joke.

Also, I may have missed it, but where does the mod say we cannot discuss the entire video (both views)?

Not only that but you can clearly see from the deck side angle (the one showing him from behind walking from the splash pad) that the next window over is ALSO open. They kept insisting that this was the ONLY window that was open in the "wall of windows" but you can see it isn't

Perhaps their lawyer had ?
Chloe Wiegand death: Video viewed by IndyStar shows final moments before cruise ship fall

Footage released

snipped
There were no plans for the footage to be released, but the security video was broadcast Tuesday night on a program which aired on Puerto Rican station Mega TV. It remains unclear who is responsible for leaking the footage, and what impact it may have on the pending litigation.

Michael Winkleman, the attorney representing the Wiegand family in the civil case, allowed IndyStar to view the video Wednesday morning and describe what takes place within it. IndyStar did not obtain a copy of the video.

In the clip, Anello can be seen lifting Chloe up to bang on what he thought was a closed window. The family said it was something Chloe used to love to do while attending hockey games.
================
I think at the least - the lawyer viewed it. based on this statement IMO

Statement from the family, taken from this article:

Grandfather offered plea deal in girl's cruise ship death as Puerto Rico TV show airs video

"In a statement, the Wiegand family said: "The family is shocked by the deplorable and disgraceful misconduct that led to the release of this footage. The family's sole motivation for not releasing the video was to protect their older child. That motivation has not changed. The family publicly asks the Puerto Rican authorities, why was this footage released? Why do you continue to inflict such heinous emotional distress on our family? Haven't we been punished enough by the loss of Chloe? Finally, the family requests an immediate, independent investigation done into the circumstances surrounding the leak." "

is it illegal to share a video? Don't think so.

Watching it a second time it looks like he tossed her out. WTAF.

IIRC, late afternoon, @4:30PM.

I speak Spanish and have seen the full video at both angles aired on La Comey (they released the longest footage of the incident and from 2 views) .

If we have the OK to discuss it, I’d be happy to translate.
Yes, please do!

She appears to be COMPLETELY out of that window literally being held overboard, exactly as the original reports stated. That's because the footage from the ship was viewed the same day by the police IMO.
Any doubt now about why he was charged?

Perhaps MW had not seen the video previously. I don't think Chloe's parents knew exactly what the video showed, either.
And they're still backing him???

I felt sorry for Grandad at first but seeing this video is so disturbing. He totally lied about not knowing the window was open and I have to admit to now wondering if darker motives weren't involved.

IMO, SA did exactly what one would do to purposely drop a child out of a window. My mind is blown.

I hope not. How could they? It's obvious that SA knew the window was open and deliberately lifted Chloe up to and out an open window.

It's so chilling IMO. ugh. I don't want to look out that window this weekend - 11 stories up. ugh

TBH, I don't think the prosecution saw the video either because there is no way any reputable lawyer would offer him a plea deal.

MOO is that they did see it, and aren’t admitting it because they know they have no case. MOO MOO

Why do you think they’ve seen it? I can’t imagine seeing the video and still trying to sue the cruise line.

I don’t even think Winkleman (who we know has seen the video) thinks they have a case... I suspect he is taking it on for the publicity- and it is working. We all know the name Winkleman now.

If their suit succeeds, the grieving couple from South Bend, Indiana could claim 'unlimited' damages for pain and mental suffering because Chloe died on American territory rather than while the boat was at sea.

Damages awarded under unlawful death laws are typically far higher than those under the Death On The High Seas Act, which covers only smaller items such as funeral expenses, the family's attorney Michael Winkleman explained

I haven't read the actual filing for the lawsuit against the cruiseline but I saw in an article that they are claiming "unlimited damages" meaning "as much money as you can possibly give us". I will have to try and find it to make sure I'm remembering that correctly, but if it's true it absolutely explains why they are 1 - still adamantly supporting him and 2 - why they are pushing the pr so much. Because if he pleas out and admits it was his fault they can't place the majority of the blame on RC

edit see post above lol, thanks @they'll get you

Wow, he leaned waaaay forward and had to be only a few inches away from actually having his head outside. No way could he think there was glass in front of him. I still believe it was an accident but man, it's amazing nothing had happened to either child before this.

I
RCCL is not prosecuting this case though. From my understanding, the Puerto Rican government is, and I doubt their resources will be as plentiful as RCCL.
I bet RCCL will lend a steady hand, because this case is an attack on their company. They will be bringing in added resources to avoid this backfiring on their reputation.

Video is probably exactly why they offered a deal. Pretty damning evidence. Why waste taxpayer money on an open and shut case?

You mean they want money?? I thought they said what they wanted was for RCCL to “fix” their ships so no one else will have to go through what they have gone through?
