No... but I surely don't believe he was trying in any way to harm his grandchild.
I don't believe his plan was to harm his grand baby. But his actions killed her.

Reckless drivers don't plan to harm their passengers either.

Just because he wasn't 'trying' to harm her it doesn't mean he isn't guilty of criminal negligence in her death.

He certainly wasn't trying to protect her. I don't really understand what he was trying to do.

I most respectfully disagree. We all have our own opinions, it seems.

I don't understand really... so you think he purposely threw her out the window?

Or do you think it was a gamble, stupid, mistake, not-thinking, etc

I don't think he was trying to harm his grandchild either. But his extreme lack of foresight, protection, intelligent thinking, adhering to the ship's rules sure as heck caused her death.
And that is the prosecutorial claim. Negligence. Not murder.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. :)

OK (got ya) negligence is ok with me.

Seeing what he did to Chloe was heartbreaking to me

I think that other videos may be even more heartbreaking. :( :( :(
And I think the jury will see them all.

I wonder if someone leaked the video because they don't agree with the plea deal. After seeing the video, that plea deal is not appropriate. Not at all.
Yes, the timing is awfully curious. IMO. and the article said they had nothing in writing - so it was just talking apparently. I wonder if we will see additional videos/statements refuting the part of the video clearly showing him leaning his upper body completely out the window - I mean, what can be said? it's like they are ignoring it totally and frankly so is the CBS reporter IMO. very cautious language describing that part. I'm not sure of motive or true intent - I only care that the result is her death. and no other child has ever died in this matter - not one, so the blaming of the cruise ship is unacceptable to me.

It pissed me off, actually. Why would you lift a tiny baby up over your head, into an 11th story window ledge, and then collapse in surprise when she drops from your grasp:?

SA is an actor, so l don't trust any reaction I see from him.

Well... I hope we ALL feel that way too. Obviously he is and will continue to suffer for what he did.

Horrible all the way around.

IMO, If they'd grieved privately and not continued to go on TV over and over, blaming and suing RCCL, then I doubt there would have been this leak. Otherwise I think the sympathy factor and respect for the family's privacy would have ruled. The public has been hearing this since July and debating what happened. Plus at least half the people who know about this now didn't even catch the inital July event. IMO.

Yes to this^^^^.

They are the ones who brought pressure to this case to prosecute him.

If SA had begged for forgiveness and mercy, admitted he made a grievous and fatal error and threw himself upon the mercy of the court, he would have walked away free and been able to go home and try and recover.

But this family made aggressive, irrational attacks upon the cruise company, and pretty much called them out publicly as murderers. And tried to make out grandpa as a victim of RCCL. The greedy demands for money look horrible in the light of day, after this video was made public.

Have you seen their attacks on the cruise line company, essentially calling them murderers. The mother said that if it wasn't for RCCL, her baby would be alive today.

Is that fair?

I think it is unfair and gross for the family to attack the cruise liner and ignore the recklessness of the grandfather. How was this company supposed to imagine that someone would lift a tiny child, up over the GUARD RAIL, and into an open window ledge and then push up behind her to lean out and look?

The anger that I have towards grandpa is for his blatant attacks on others as he tries to become the victim himself. That and their attempt to win millions in their lawsuit.

The reports said from the start that there are multiple angles. So probably more than 2 video angles exist. In the angle that DM doesn't show, you can see that more than one window is open. One that's just a few feet away from them. Also the window where it happend is not even completely slid open.

The incorrect claims the attorneys claim, IMO, is that most people don't bother to verify their claims because most people aren't able to stop and take the time to do all that; they assume that an attorney is stating facts. It will be different with a jury but there still can be someone on there who can't be objective; but even with that, the videos are blatant.

Yes, I believe the prosecutor when they said their case is strong.
How could they not prosecute for criminal negligence when they have seen what happened? It would be negligent for them not to prosecute. imo

She appears to be COMPLETELY out of that window literally being held overboard, exactly as the original reports stated. That's because the footage from the ship was viewed the same day by the police IMO.
Yes! He leans out of the window, with most of his upper body, not just his head. Then picks her up and holds her OUT of the window. It looks like he dangled her. Absolutely horrifying! And so cruel! Omg, that poor baby

Since I only stated that I was heartbroken over his immediately falling down... I don't understand why what the family is doing has anything to do with what I stated.

I wasn't arguing the case or the charges... just making a statement that I immediately regretted. Stirred up a hornet's nest it seems.

No need to say how wrong I am or pile on... I just felt ill for the dumb guy.

Sorry for intruding.

Yes, he is a stage/theater actor besides his IT job.
That, and refusing the breathalyzer.
It didn't look good for him from the start.

We're all here to discuss this case. Your opinion is as valuable as anyone else's.
