I just read on this thread. SA needs to be in jail til he perishes.
how TF do you not realize there is no glass.
Did he realize he was on a boat?
FFS

The glass isn't clear, it's covered in dried salt spray and it's near impossible to take a decent photo through the windows. There is glass, it's so obvious.

How to Dispute LE's Stmts. & the Videos? Razzle Dazzle?
Authorities: "...Salvatore Anello, was holding the girl when the child slipped from his grasp..." *
Lawyer...." disputed that account." *
Starting w ^ July 9 quote, Winkleman has been rehearsing Billy Flynn's Razzle Dazzle number in "Chicago" courtroom scene.

If you could use a refresher on ^, try one of these:
---Audio/video w music, Richard Gere, RazzleDazzle from musical Chicago" a 5 min.clip w captions:

google song lyrics musical chicago razzle dazzle - Bing video

---Lyrics: Razzle Dazzle - Chicago Ensemble (1996) & James Naughton

According to the suit, the family had just boarded the ship in San Juan on July 7 a few hours before the accident. Kimberly Wiegand went to a pool area with her daughter around 2:40 p.m. A little more than an hour later, Anello — who is married to Wiegand’s mother — came to watch the 18-month-old in a children’s water play area on Deck 11. Winkleman described the time that followed as “helicopter grandparenting” as Anello followed the toddler all around.

https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2019/12/11/kids-are-not-supposed-die-cruise-ships-family-toddler-killed-fall-sues-royal-caribbean/?outputType=amp

He does spin his tall tails, doesn’t he. More apt would be “grandparent from hell”. JMO

Maybe Winkleman meant "hellcopter" instead of helicopter.:(

And they refuse to watch the footage that shows exactly what happened. Delusional?

I wouldn't be able to watch the video if I was Chloe's parent, BUT I would certainly have several trusted, reasonable, unbiased persons view it to give me feedback as to whether the "needed to be fixed" or if SA was responsible. To me, it's not hard to determine that SA was the driving force and cause of the accident by just looking at the window!

Honestly, the windows open or closed is just too obvious.

He’s a fool and I hope the jury is a bit smarter than him.

The last photo shows
1) no glass
2) single layer of glass
2) double layer of glass.

Welcome ! Good point, his actions causing Chloe’s death are so unbelievable it still makes absolutely no sense. Totally unfathomable for this to happen by “accident”.

He picked her up, then placed her out there all on on purpose.... Hiw can that be anything close to an accident. SMH Then, he proceeded to drop her or push her, down to the concrete dock. OMG. To this day, I still can not comprehend anyone doing something so heinous if it wasn’t intentional. Which of course is not only heinous but Criminal. JMO
And to further the horror there was an awning she hit IIRC ... as many know who have followed this thread for CW -I sailed on a similar ship in December and many RCCL cruises prior and posted that I remembered the breeze to be strong - well it was way stronger in dock than even I remembered- no way IMO could anyone standing directly in front of an open window not feel the breeze and the effort to actually hold your arms across the railing and the window sill is not easy - it was an effort to hold her outside that window. No doubt in my mind

Yep going again in March - anyone who believes he didn’t know that was open never viewed the video of him sticking his body out of it IMO the best the family can do I guess now is tough it out and stay silent but RCCL had to have been served by now and filed their answer and affirmative defenses - I will check on that tomorrow

oviedo I put my head out of deck 11 windows and I couldn’t see an awning, my view was straight down the side of the ship. I did that to check if there were lifeboats jutting out but no, it was straight down.
So the awning has got me stumped.

This was from my balcony on deck 10 looking up to deck 11 so it shows deck 11 was wider than the rest of the ship if that makes sense.

There has been a mingling of governmental and private support for the Wiegands in their lawsuit that has made me uncomfortable. For instance, the family received a police escort from the airport to their home when flying back to the US. Yes, I realize the father is a police officer but that is a private use of public resources and is inappropriate, especially considering the lawsuit. Sam Anello, as has been discussed, has a Fundrazr for his travel and legal expenses, separate from the husband and wife’s Fundly, which raised something over $22k. Sam’s Fundrazr has a little over $6k and one of his contributors is St Joseph County Auditor’s Office. Again, this is public money being used for a private individual- who is accused of a crime. And this contribution may give the appearance that there is government support in the lawsuit against RC. Remember when the Wiegands were going to hold their press conference announcing the lawsuit at the police station, but there was some kind of outcry about that being inappropriate that caused them to move it to another location? It’s important that there be transparency in any criminal or civil procedure and yet this appears to be a bit muddied.

I take "he works in IT" with a grain of salt. And he's only been in IT for a year based on an early article I read that I can't find now. For all we know, he could be wiping hard drives for destruction. I don't believe he's some kind of engineer or anything.

Granddad of cruise ship toddler who plunged out of window to her death was not drunk, lawyer says: "Sam is not a drinker"

One of Anello's colleagues offered words of support to the grieving grandfather, who is thought to work in IT. Mike Hamann, St Joseph County auditor and head of IT told WSBT: "Sal works in the IT department, he's a very valuable employee. Wonderful, just, would do anything for you. And we're just mourning with him."

The police should not have given the family an escort from the airport UNLESS, (1) the family paid for it or (2) it is a courtesy service done for all people living in that jurisdiction. I wonder if the same police department charges for motorcycle escorts for funerals.

I sure hope that the St. Joseph County Auditor Office contributed to SA's fundrazr by passing around a donation envelope to employees! And, I wonder if any of them wish they hadn't donated after viewing the video!

Parents of toddler who fell to her death from cruise ship blame company for daughter's demise
Snipped
The child's maternal grandfather, Salvatore Aiello, was allegedly holding her on a railing he believed was backed by glass so she could look outside, when she leaned forward to bang on the window and toppled out of an open panel. She fell an estimated 150 feet from one of the ship's highest decks, hitting an awning before landing on the concrete dock below and dying on impact.

I wonder how hot the ledge or bottom of that window was at that time of day. It wouldn't take much to burn Chloe's skin. Plus...the bottom of the window looks uncomfortable since the bottom of the window sticks up and is not even with the ledge. And did I mention a window 11 stories up?!!

The article I posted said she hit an awning - I will look for images of FOTS docked in a pier but the problem is the ships dock differently depending on where they are from what I understand - will research further and see if other early articles reference a strike on the awning (sorry that’s so awful)

There is an early article here that says that Elmer Roman of the Puerto Rican Department of Public Security stated Chloe struck an awning.

..... Elmer Roman said that Wiegand hit an awning after she fell before landing on the pavement.

I personally think that it is very possible that the awning was either one that was covering something on the near dockside. or perhaps one of those yellow objects on the side of the ship. Are they yellow covers ('awnings' perhaps loosely translated in Spanish?) on suspended lifeboats?

A toddler fell from the 11th floor of a Royal Caribbean cruise ship because there was an opening in a glass wall, according to the lawyer representing the toddler's family

Characterizing where they were as a “children’s play area” where there is clearly a bar filled with drinking adults between them and the pool. The bar is not a children’s play area.
Agree -- lots of adults in an adult area.
Little Chloe, like all toddlers, was running or walking fast -- that's what toddlers do -- they get a head of steam, STS, and they run or scamper, etc. The only time any toddler walks is if s/he is tired, if someone tells them to stop or slow down (good luck on that one!), or if someone is holding his/her hand. They just run -- all the more reason to have her in the children's area and not getting in the way of adults and to keep her from being under their feet in that area, knowing that she will be scurrying everywhere. I feel sure that grand-dad knew that. SMH.

Is FOTS oasis class? They may have awnings - I will poke around as I recall the honeymooner who died on a RCCL ship and someone had snapped a picture of the blood in the awning
Honeymoon widow Hagel Smith whose husband died on cruise 10 years ago's new life | Daily Mail Online
That ship was BOTS and it was George Smith who died - the blood in the awning is awful
