Does anyone know if kristys phone was an iphone?

I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere. Anyone else?

No, it shouldn't have. I think nobody knows exactly when she left because they were all in the back. TF is less than a minute from VFW on the same road.

The timing of the whole thing is what keeps throwing me. She's seen passing TF at 1:48 am. It shouldn't take more than about 5 minutes for her to get to her house (or really, anywhere in town) from that point. If she turned around and headed back to VFW immediately, again, you're looking at maybe another 5-7 minutes tops. That is, unless she sat in the driveway digging in her purse or something for the phone.

Also, going back to the VFW for her phone by the route of behind TF instead of front of TF is a little odd. I suppose it could be a way to loop back around but it's not really a convenient way. Lots of stop signs, one ways and turns. It would have been easier just to get back on the main road and head straight there. Faster. Then again, sometimes I take bizarre ways to places because I'm too lazy to drive further to get on a main road, so who knows? I just feel like the timing in between seeing her car seems a little long. You can get from one end of this town to the other in about 7 minutes.

Would it have taken her 20 minutes to drive to the spot where the camera picked her up? So there is no video of the SUV returning in the direction of the VFW ?

No. It's right down the street. And, there is talk that the SUV returning in the direction of the VFW (via a back street? Is that right?) may or may not be her. In other words, she went by (they think it was her) at 1:48 am. Then there is a car that goes back by 20 minutes later that MIGHT be her towards the VFW but I believe it was on a back street from the street she was on in the first video. Does that make sense?

This is what sticks out for me. 20 minutes???

I know. If she got right in her car and left it would probably pick her up a couple of minutes later. Unless vfw people are off on their time frame. Also there is a RR track. Maybe a train?

Makes sense to me. I'm having a hard time with the 20 minutes unless she went home and then realized the phone and went back out. Or she got carjacked or went to pick someone up. Or really anything! Maybe it wasn't her. I thought I read somewhere that the ex husband implied he thought both sightings were her car...wish we knew for sure!

Okay....so is it possible that she actually went to her parents house and went in but then realized she'd left her phone and went back? Surely they would have heard her come in?! Or, it could be something so simple as her getting to her parents, realizing she left her phone and then searching high and low underneath her seats, in her purse, etc. to see if she could find it and not finding it--decided to head back?

Oh that's right the train. I wish we knew for sure if it was her. I wonder if LE knows and haven't updated us. Or maybe when they originally reported it they didn't know if the camera times were off from each other?

On the iphone vs. another type of phone: I honestly don't think anyone has said.

Don't quote me on this, but I'm fairly certain early on it was stated by family on the FB page that nothing suspicious or of interest was found on her cell phone (texts, calls, photos, etc) that would immediately point to why she left or where she was headed.

Ok thanks. I was asking because I just used this iphone software and it gave me deleted texts, notes, etc, from the last three years. I mistakenly posted about it in the erin corwin thread, but won't bring my long post over here if we don't know what kind if phone she had.

I think that's possible. Sounds like something I would do!

It's also possible she came in and it didn't wake up her parents.

Well that's something I hadn't thought about. How do you find out if there was a train that night? Or is there a way to even find out?!

  • #732
The only thing thats confirmed is her car passed the tastee freeze and vanished. Not much to go on.

I would definitely go back for my phone...I'm much older (40) and don't go out with friends much like this, but I wouldn't want to wait to get my phone the next day. I guess maybe she would since she knew the people who worked there? I don't know most people are really attached to their phones. Myself included. It's really hard to guess what someone else would do.

Does anyone know where the surveillance video that caught Kristy's car (or what they think was her car) the SECOND time was? It wasn't the TF, right?

What's scary is I didn't even need the phone just the Apple ID and password and if any device with that Apple ID was backed up to the cloud I could see it all! Helped me, but I wasn't doing anything nefarious with it!

This sucks...I wonder if someone was waiting at her parents house. I know all this has been discussed and talked about extensively and it's not the first time it's been wondered. I certainly have been thinking of all possibilities along with everyone else since day 1. I can see where some on the missing page can get tired if the same questions, but there's nothing much for us to go on. I hope LE has more.

I think it's fine to bring up the same ol' questions for one important reason: Someone posting may not read the whole thread but have something to add that could be beneficial. Just wish we had more to go on so it didn't feel like we were all here just twiddling our thumbs trying to pick apart every detail.

Yes but the side street.

I don't think they specifically said whose security system it was, but the car was caught driving behind the TF back towards the direction of the VFW. Since nothing else much is back there, other than Studio Bee, and some houses, I assumed it was TF. There are actually two TF stores. There is the original, which is small and sells ice cream. They just opened a bigger building next door that serves hot food. I assume both buildings have a security camera.

Also, they've never absolutely confirmed it was her car the second time around. I think it's so blurry that it's probably going to be hard to say definitively. One would think that nobody else has a car like that in town, but interestingly, I saw the same car in Lynnville yesterday. It was a soccer mom with a bunch of kids in it, but it was literally the same car.
