You are not barging in! Please, join in!! :)

You Americans are so nice...we took a long road trip through the US years ago, and were really surprised by the warmth to strangers with Canadian plates.

I am not familiar with stripper pits. Can someone explain how big they are and what they are? TIA!!
The pits are what is left after an area has been strip mined. I was absolutely shocked the first time I saw a strip mine. It was HUGE!!! When the mine is abandoned it turns into a man made lake. I honestly don't know much about it, but I know the pits can be huge. And they are usually in very remote areas. Sometimes turned into an area where people go to hunt or fish.

Thank you for explaining IndianaMom. I've never heard of them before. Hard to imagine!!

just curious, being Boonville is a small town, I would think rumors would be flying...locals?

when I first saw that term used in this thread I took it to mean there were several strip joints in town...you aren't alone! lol

Thank you for explaining IndianaMom. I've never heard of them before. Hard to imagine!!

A few comments I think I can help with:

Kristy is a pharmacy tech at CVS.

Stripper pits are caused by surface mining. There are a lot of coal mines down here, and a lot of the land around here is owned, or was owned, by coal mines. They bring in heavy equipment and dig a huge pit out of the earth to mine the minerals. Once abandoned, those pits fill up with rainwater over time and become ponds or lakes. Some of these can look like a smaller pond on top, but be 100 feet deep depending on how they dug out the minerals. There are so many empty tunnels, abandoned underground mines, and pits around here that we get mine subsidence on our homeowners.

I can't even begin to count how many of these pits are in the area. Hundreds and hundreds. If you walk any wooded property around here, you will almost always find a pond or small lake on it that was an old mining pit.

As for the photo of Kristy... if people saw what I looked like when I took an actual selfie, vs. what I look like when I'm out partying with my friends, they would think it's a different person. ;) I only take selfies if I am meticulously groomed for a special occasion, or if I specifically meticulously groomed myself for a selfie. I don't think that Kristy not having extra make up on at the VFW really indicates anything. She still looked lovely. I didn't see any indication that looked like crying, but that's just my opinion.

I also am extremely curious about the small dispute. Initially it was a VFW elder that reported it, and he didn't think it was so small. He said they were making quite a scene, but then again, an 80 year old elder might think a small dispute and some goofing around is a scene.

Rumors: Literally the same thing as has been discussed here. We are all completely clueless!

Actually.. I think they are checking one of them tonight. There is an ATV ride in an area that one of the psychics has been yelling about for several days.

I'm not saying I don't believe in that stuff, but I also think it's hard to weed out the genuine from the kooky. The ones I've seen thus far that have commented come off as less than professional and a little kooky. JMO.

Okay, let me explain all about stripper pits to you...

:floorlaugh:

If you knew me, you would know that there is NOBODY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH less qualified to explain that to you than I am...and I say that as someone who will share a glass of iced tea with anyone and am a "let's cut the chit chat and get to the heart of the matter" type of person...but I am so glad to know that I am not the only one who has been wondering WHAT IS A STRIPPER PIT???????

The picture: I do remember it, and I thought she looked like she was having fun and in a "cute zone," but let me go back and analyze it...because I pretty much analyze everything to the tenth degree! ;)

FOOTNOTE: Okay, went back to the photo...you know, it is really hard to say unless you know the person personally, but I agree that less makeup (in this situation) does not indicate anything to me. She still is cute and presentable, IMHO. And photos are such a hard thing to judge...some people are "naturals" with the camera lens -- some look forced. I just really can't say that I "see" anything in particular with this one...okay, I "see" one thing...with Kristy's right eye (that would be LEFT, looking at the pic), it looks a little deadpan to me...but really, I defer to those who know her.

Bahahahahahaha!! Oh, and if you knew me, you would totally get that I MUST BE even less qualified than you. :takeabow: Seriously! My hubs toured a mine in Colorado without me because I was like, "What? That old thing? Not a chance! I might get my new shoes dirty." Well...that and the fact that I'm ridiculously claustrophobic. No thank you...I toured the mine from the top, in pictures. My mind totally went to the ol' gutter with the whole stripper pit thing. I just didn't want to look stupid.:blushing:

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying she looks raggedy in any way. She is probably one of the prettiest women in town. I just know when I do my eyes and end up getting emotional, say at a wedding, I'm left with eye makeup that is half on, half off, a lot like the pic of Kristy in the bar.
Or maybe I'm projecting :)

Warning: OT bigtime...

True fact (Gawd, facts are always "true," you goofball!):

My hubby (fiance at the time) and I were traveling and looking for a place to eat, and I said: "Oh, that Hooters place looks good!" He looked at me like I had lost my mind but said: "Are you SURE??" I thought the owl logo looked cute...I had NO IDEA. I mean, get real!:rotfl:

Later (after we ate and left...I am waaaay too polite), my fiance was given the riot act...because, seriously, would I really suggest that if I had a CLUE????? He turned out to be a gem of a husband...but still, what was he thinking???!!!!

He's paid for that with countless stories to relatives and friends.

I see what you're saying. Maybe she did cry when they got in their small dispute.

Nothing to feel badly about, Krystine! I am just considering the bar scene...but we are happy to have "fresh eyes" and glad you have joined us!! :) You could totally be right on this.
