How would it be different than most cases (assuming she OD'ed)?

Drug dealers don't seem particularly concerned about people they supply drugs to being found dead now.

Drug dealers care about themselves and the dollar.....so in a community like this college community, a popular drug dealer who gets a panicked call from a student who buys from him might be apt to help if he knew it would keep him out of jail. He might offer to exchange his help if he knows his name will be left out of the equation completely. He could avoid arrest on murder charges and drug charges and also have favors owed to him by the students he has helped...and thats no small thing.
I'm not saying it happened but it would not surprise me.

Eight years ago, I was completely ignorant about drugs. I didn't know the signs of users. I didn't know how dealers operate. I figured if my son didn't have money, he couldn't get drugs. That's how ignorant I was. He had friends on both ends of the spectrum...doctor's sons, educator's sons, homecoming girls....kids I thought would be safe to hang around. He also had friends who looked like thugs, quite frankly. They had no license and no jobs...I would always catch my son driving them around. They were ALL in on the drug deals. When my son mysteriously disappeared for 3 days, LE told us that after investing his connections, we should prepare ourselves that he might be deceased. That was the longest 3 days of my life.
I came face to face with the reality of the drug world...and it scared the heck out of me. I went toe to toe with men who literally made me tremor from fear. But I didn't care....I was going to find my child, dead or alive.
Fortunately, he was discovered alive in less than ideal circumstances and LE from 3 counties helped in a raid that got him out.
He came home...but he never really came home. Drugs destroy everything. And I learned you don't have to be dead to be dead.

jjenny there was a second sighting confirmed of Lauren. The two were different. If they retracted it since then, it's for a reason.

Wait, this is being rehashed over and over, and I do sort of understand this huge "breakthrough" in the case, I think.

But this is a blog, right? Has this blog been confirmed for MSM now?

This thread is getting super confusing.

:/

It is a blog and hasn't been confirmed by MSM.

This is first time that I Learned that there were actuually credit cards of lauren's missing from her coin purse found near alley. Did other know this info. Here's the snipped quote with significant info near the end..
Her purse was found in the dirt-riddled alley way that connects her apartment to her friends place. It is not known whether the purse was left there before she went to the friend’s place or after she left, according to Lt. Bill Parker, who supervises the investigation division in the Bloomington Police Department. “We believe the chance that there was foul play is very great because if not Lauren would have made contact by now,” Parker also said. Police have spoken to all of the friends that Lauren was with that night, they even searched the cars of her friends, and they have found nothing. Some credit cards were also missing from Lauren’s purse; a check has been made and none of the cards have been used as of yet. Her keys were also found on a railing near her apartment in downtown Bloomington.

Smooth, do you have the link? I want to read the article. TIA

I guess LE sometimes do not tell the truth, I knew I had read of another video or image after the 2:51 am one. Here's the proof:

"Parker did say police have found an image of Spierer on tape from a security camera in an alley. It showed her with someone else walking from a friend’s apartment to her apartment, Strong said."

http://www.indystar.com/article/201...er-case?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|IndyStar.com

This article was written after CR's identity was revealed and the video of CR and Spierer was confirmed by LE.

This snippet of article has caused confusion since the day it was written because it is incorrect. I'm even in the comments section asking for a retraction of the exact part you quoted.

The info is still there. I guess they didn't retract.

Why would they retract if it was a quote? Can you please explain?

No huge breakthrough. Even Gatto writes:

Police have not acknowledged the incident.
TG has been responsible enough to add that bit of information. It's up to us to read it and understand what it means.

New witness...

OK so they DID confirm that CR was with her in the video? Can you tell me where that was confirmed? ....I'm not asking b/c I don't believe you, but rather because this has been driving me nuts why there hasn't been a confirmation of this. I've only read where they say she was walking with "someone". Thanks.

I have read both that it is CR (6/18):
She was last seen on video at 2:51 a.m. with Corey Rossman, heading through an alley between 10th and 11th streets on their way to Rossman's apartment building at 11th and North Morton streets.
http://www.lohud.com/article/201106...-make-Father-s-Day-plea-Tell-us-what-you-know

And this and other accounts where there is no mention of a name (6/19):
Parker also says the BPD has video footage that shows Lauren traveling north from Smallwood toward apartments at 11th and Morton streets with an unnamed male.
Parker refuses to provide specific details regarding Lauren’s state in the video.

So, I'm not sure what to think.

Thanks, Bessie! And cluciano63, I totally get from where you're coming.....it IS their choice to get an attorney. However, even when one is innocent, there are times when he can say something that appears incriminating. It's really best to get an attorney but that doesn't mean that you won't talk to LE, nor does it mean that you won't/can't confess, but having legal council to help you through the process is just smart. I know if these were my sons, it would be the first thing I'd do. However, I would also tell my son that I would love him, irregardless of anything that he may have done and that it's always best to tell the truth.

Maybe I should have also inquired on who this Strong person is that gets quoted since they are never mentioned before or after.

It's a case of sloppy reporting, where they have flipped around where they have the image of her walking. I watched the press conference that they are reporting on, I can confirm that there was no mind blowing revelation that they now have video of her walking back toward her apartment.

They had nearly 12 hours to dispose of her body and get their stories straight. I am sure most of them are aware of the security cameras because I guarantee they know people that have gotten busted by them (vandalizing etc). They could have easily snuck her out and put her in a truck and then ditched her sometime between 3am and 4pm. You can be in some real rural areas in an hour drive any direction from Btown.

Right, but they didn't necessarily know they had 12 hours.

They don't have her on video after she left JR's apartment, and they clarified it plenty since then.

I believe the man with her has to be CR. Who else could it possibly be? As to why LE won't just confirm it, who knows. Maybe they like to keep us all guessing.

LE has not publicly mentioned any POI by name at any of the briefings for precisely the reasons that Gabby has described. Closest they came was confirming that the bf was a POI in response to a question. This isn't to say they haven't confirmed it privately to MSM.

I have believed it was him too until so much time has passed w/o a confirmation. Like you say, "Who else could it be?" so if it IS him, why not just confirm? That's what makes me think there's something more to the video - perhaps they don't want to share a video with her parents, showing their daughter having sex, perhaps there are other people in the outskirts who they think could have witnessed something, to whom LE want to find and speak, perhaps it's not CR at all - I don't know. But I do believe it's ODD if they have not confirmed who she was with - what harm could that do?
