GUILTY IN - Lt. Aaron Allen, 38, fatally shot, Homecroft, 27 July 2017 *Arrest*

It is strange that all of the people that really reinforce LE are silent on this thread.

He sounds like a really nice officer. Not like some of the LE that have been so intensely supported and had questionable things about them.

I was really waiting for the, "he had to be mentally ill" posts that always come with these cases... but nada.

it is a very depressing thread for LE supporters. Here you have a heroic officer, crawling into an overturned car, that could catch fire at any time, and he is shot 14 times, for no reason.

It is very scary and depressing for those with loved ones and family members on the job. It increases the level of potential fear on the job too.

In what cases do people always say 'he had to be mentally ill?'

Really??

I do share your hurt that this Officer was killed so tragically. It really makes no sense how he was there to help crash victims and ends up executed. Prayers to his family, coworkers and friends.

You do know that we are ALL Law Enforcement supporters? Just because we can see when they are wrong doesn't mean we don't support those who are putting their lives on the line every day and doing their jobs right.

And you do know that I was responding to the statement a few posts upthread, which said LE supporters are silent on this thread. So it seems a tad harsh to call me out AS IF I was the one saying that.

The first day of kindergarten pictures just kill me. This had to be excruciating for that young boy. All excited to tell Daddy about his first day of school, and he never gets to speak to him again. :rose:

Kinda off topic, but July 27 seems so early for school to be starting. Is it a private kindergarten or something?

Maybe. Good question. It could be a summer program and he is finally old enough to attend?

I know weird but most schools around Indy have started.
ETA I am a strong LE supporter and by no means condoning the suspect.

I wasn't aware that your were responding to any particular post as it was not quoted?

I agree with the poster who questioned why this officers execution isn't getting the attention it deserves. I think it's a great question and I think we all know the answer to it too.

Like with other police shooters. Where did they go to school? What are their interests? Why is there a lack of money for a car but money for drugs and guns?

Anyone have scary experiences with him? Why all of the guns? Was he in a gang that sold drugs? Did he feel that LE was a threat? Why would he kill an officer coming to help him?

Imho most officer killings have not generated much discussion on this site. I'll try doing some research.

Still waiting for the reason this thread isn't getting much coverage. Of the first 10 officers killed by gunfire this year only Debra Clayton got a lot of interest as there was a national manhunt for her killer. Of the other 9 there were no threads on 2, 1 thread had 21 posts & the other 6 had less than 10 posts.

When cops are killed there are not usually a lot of posts in the thread---if there is even a thread started. As stated in another thread about a cop who shot someone---'cops know it is a dangerous job when they take it. ' <<< I think that is the general attitude.

It's sad how people lose interest once the initial excitement is over. I've seen it, but it happens with all kinds of cases. Initial excitement and breaking news, then it all slows down.

I also think it is because the suspect is usually identified and charged immediately. No discussion about if the person will be charged.

I live in Indy. Those comments are all over our local news article posts.

Agree. As an Indy resident, this case is getting a lot of local coverage, but I can see why it's not getting a lot of WS attention. The suspect(s) are in custody. It's a very, very sad story, but there really isn't much to sleuth.
