I think there is a resemblance with this missing person. He was in the airforce at the time he went missing in 1986.

From the article quoted in The Invisible Man:

"When FBI agents were investigating the younger DeRose's disappearance, they say they found a tape, secretly made by DeRose, in the breadbox of his girlfriend's kitchen of a conversation James A. Traficant Jr., then a Mahoning County sheriff candidate, had with local organized-crime figures. The conversation was about how Traficant, if elected, was going to protect their illegal interests for money.
Traficant was federally indicted for racketeering based on that tape, but won acquittal representing himself in 1983."

Is that tape still extant? Are there extant audio/video recordings of "Paul" to which it may be compared?

Also, when exactly was DeRose Jr. "killed"? Upthread it says in 1982, but the article says "the 1981 killing of DeRose Jr."

I ask because I note upthread that Ruth Ann Carson, who accidentally killed five-year-old Paul Harrod, herself committed suicide in 1962. 1982 would've been the 20th anniversary. Could her family have published a remembrance of some sort in local newspapers, which DeRose Jr. could've subsequently seen and used in order to assume her victim's identity?

Of course, if he was really killed in 1981, then that question may be moot.

Found a article about the “tape found” , I don’t believe DeRose voice was on it, but it does say there are transcripts.

That assertion is a little difficult to believe after listening to conversations secretly recorded by Charles Carabbia, who made the tapes in an effort to gain leverage with Traficant. Policy is mentioned several times on the tapes, which detail a money-laundering scheme going on just a few feet from his office.

On the tapes, Traficant tells Carabbia that he received cash and checks from Policy's best friend — DeBartolo Jr. — and then laundered $10,000 in illicit bribes through Policy's law firm via his business partner, Flask.

"Don't forget now, see, I had taken $10,000 down to Flask," Traficant says. "Ten of our thousand down to Flask for him to give me some checks to cover up some of my contributions." When Carabbia worries whether they can trust Flask, Traficant reassures him, "I don't think Flask would say a thing."

Policy is not directly implicated in the scheme, but it raises some interesting questions. Like how could such a smart man not know that mob money was being laundered through his law firm, when the two people closest to him, outside of his wife and children, were directly involved? Is it possible to be selectively brilliant?

Whatever the circumstances of Flask and Policy's involvement — or lack thereof —there were no legal repercussions after the tape transcripts were made public in 1983. "Nothing was ever done to either of them," notes the Citizens League's

Interesting. I'm certain that Cheryl Durkin is still alive . I found her information last night and a Facebook for her. I linked but deleted since I wasn't absolutely positive that I had the right person and didn't know if it was against TOS. But that address in the article is spot on with what I found and also the age is correct.

Interesting there are different accounts, , one saying he was playing with a toy plane and another one says he was alighting from a car, maybe the other child was playing with the plane.

My class ended at 230 today. Although extremely sore from fighting all day I was able to go to Walmart for much needed supplies. By 330 I was back in Cedarville where I met with the Captain at the Cedarville Police Department. He is going to look up information for me. I then traveled to a church where Skippy’s (the true Paul Harrod who died at 5 years old) grandpa may have been a minister. No luck there. I then went to the Cedarville Library... was helped by two lovely ladies, but was sent to Xenia, the main library. Found two articles there and made new friends who I hope will be very resourceful for us during the hunt. I plan on doing more videos, but have to have the time and better information. Hope everyone is well and again, I appreciate your help!

Now what's the connection between the fake PRH and the family of the real PRH?

- Obviously he didn't assume his identity when the child died.

-It's possible he had access to a computer in the 80's but information about births and deaths wouldn't have been readily available.

- He could walk through the graveyard but he would still have to do research if he didn't know who PRH was.

-Did FPRH's family attend the church of Rev. Condon. Are there any connections to Illinois or Ohio.

Is it possible that the FPRH mixed up the names Mary and Margaret. Mary's mother was named Margaret Etta Watt Condon. Maybe he got mixed up with all those t's in her name and turned it into Margaret Coletti. Not likely but it was just a thought I had.

- Facial recognition software provides a possible match. The "matching" subject was arrested in California. However, this subject is deceased now. This means IF this was Paul Harrod, he is deceased. (see larger size photos from this case at the bottom of this page) - T.E.

Strong signature! Anyone aware of a poster knowledgeable about handwriting? (Likely among the JBR Ransom Note folk!)

There is certainly huge variation across a group of humans -- but JMHO that is an atypical signature for a janitor.

And, possibly we only looking for divorces in November of 1985!
