Hmmmm, as a girl serving in the Canadian Army, do his service records show him as being USAF @CyresAres1 ? I'm now convinced his service was indeed with the USAF.

If so, there is a USAF linkage to Northern Ontario, and also to my husband's home town, as well … CFB North Bay - Wikipedia

Did he release from the USAF while serving at this location as part of NORAD (that would also explain how he knew of Thule, Greenland) …. or headed back to there after he released from the USAF elsewhere … having met a Canadian Girl associated with a small town I've sent you by personal message? North Bay would be the place where everyone from that town heads to get their shopping done being that it is the largest populace in the region and therefore has all the stores for whatever one would need. It was the same way in the 1970s. Perhaps that's how he found himself in the middle of nowhere in the 1970s!

Oh now I’m confused with this C person, will have a look into it.
I have tried to find any link with the crime family without much success , so atm it doesn’t seem to be a major factor.

I've messaged you. No linkage to the crime family. Sorry if my post made it seem as such. She is the link to Northern Canada and my husband's home town.

Did he get the US passport shortly after Obama lifted some of the travel restrictions to Cuba perchance? Easier to travel to Cuba from his current place of residence via the US and a US passport than to have to travel to Canada first and travel on a Canadian passport.

How was he getting to Cuba before then??

I'm going to message you; I strongly suggest checking for a Canadian passport issued in the name of JC in the 1970s/early 80s. Also, a JC being granted Canadian Citizenship in the 1970s/early 80s. That would make him a dual US/Canadian Citizen … and Canadian Citizenship can not be revoked. So, he can still be renewing a Canadian Passport at it's expiry to this day. My reasons are incoming.
I think he was entering Cuba by way of Canada pre 2009. US citizens didn’t need a passport to go to Canada. That changed somewhere around 2009?? Maybe that’s when he decided he needed a passport.

I don’t think he was ever married to the Canadian woman. I found her obituary and his daughter has her mother’s maiden name. There are various last names among the Canadian woman’s children, a couple with her maiden name. She had a shady past from what I found w/ arrest from drug sting with some relatives being involved.

I found one of JC’s siblings through FB comments. I understand their mother is still alive. I was able to trace back to who I believe is their mother but there was no connection to JC or even the C name. I believe he has other half-siblings as well. I almost went down the rabbit hole that JC wasn’t his real name LOL. But since he had it in high school not likely.

I found all that too. I sent them to Cyres by message.

But, I also pointed out that a marriage was not necessarily required for Canadian Citizenship and a passport - a Canadian "anchor-baby" would do the trick too. And, he def had at least one of those.

Despite not requiring a passport to travel between Canada and the US, he would have had to have a passport of some type to travel to/from Cuba even from Canada back then and I suspect it was a Canadian one.

Another interesting tidbit : A JRC writing a book … which brings up Timiskaming. A family connection to this place perhaps in some way? Was perhaps dad a Canadian citizen? Are he and this author related somehow? Another path for him to obtain citizenship and a passport possibly.

Fascinating Canada

I think it was more like US citizens needed a passport to get back into the US from Canada post 9/11.

We only enacted the passport requirement here because the US put it in place and made us Canuks require passports to cross southwards. For a time post 9/11, US citizens could still come here without showing their passport, but it was proving they were US citizens to get back into the US that became a problem. We can still cross back into Canada from the US with only a Canadian photo id (although they don't recommend it), but now we need the passport to get into the USofA anyways, so most have it. Americans can still get into Canada without a passport.

Ronald S appears to be a GRANDSON of Margaret.
Yes, sorry if my post wasn’t very clear, just pointing out the middle initials of the two Ronald’s might help when looking for information when there is no birthdate available. Ronald J is the one we are interested in!

I do not have his military records as of yet.

I'm speaking from personal experience crossing the Washington-BC border. I needed a passport not long after 9/11.

"Before the new rule, travelers only needed to show identification, such as a driver's license, and orally declare their citizenship. In 2008, the federal government changed that rule to require proof of citizenship, such as a birth's certificate or a passport."

It used to be a lot easier to get in...you always had to show ID but not necessarily a passport. I used just my driver's license a couple times. You could even get back into the US without proof of citizenship for a while by submitting to a background check. No chance of that happening in today's world! People were upset when it started getting stricter because they were afraid it would hinder people from crossing the border and spending money. Although someone using a fake name would still have no problems getting in or out as long as they had ID with the fake name.

I'm sure this got overlooked but I just wanted to ask it again, does M know if the fake PRH had a tattoo on his upper right arm? @CyresAres1

It seems like if he had one back then she would have mentioned it as a distinct feature along with his head scar.

Other than that, the sluethers on here impress me with the information you are all able to find out. Definitely an interesting thread!

Hope this isn’t too convoluted...

While looking for any ties for JC to Ohio I came upon the following article. Although the incident was In Cincinnati Ohio the Corps came from Kentucky. While looking into the Army Corps of engineers I found they link to Thule, Greenland which FP had mentioned.

I don’t know how to search old Army Corp of engineer records, but would be interesting to rule this one out or in.
From Cincinnati enquirer 24th Jan 1974, longer article snipped-

CyresAres1,
Do you know if FP was a smoker when his wife knew him?
FP and JC are both right handed, both wear watches on the left wrist. JC has an old picture with him smoking and a recent one with cigar.

Unfortunately, I am not aware either way

He was a good cook, alleged to have worked at Harrod's Casino in Vegas, in US Air Force stationed in Greenland and had several other jobs. It is my opinion he worked jobs well below his intelligence level to stay under the radar. The wife said he always had multiple jobs though. She knew little of his past life other than he was from Evanston Il, parents were dead and he was an only child. He also told her he was from the Bronx and his mother was Italian.

Was there a Harrods casino in Vegas? I can find a Harrahs Casino Vegas. Working at and using the same name always seemed a bit odd. The Harrahs was Holiday Casino from 1973 until 1992. If it was Harrahs Casino it might point to him being there as in 1992 they just changed the Casino name?
