Although it can't eliminated, I was never to excited about the abortion theory. No need for all three girls go as a group. Wouldn't one (probably Renee) have stayed behind to watch the car and their belongings?

I agree. The whole scenario of the girls going swimming, leaving their car in the parking lot and their belongings and clothes on the beach, sounds more like a chance encounter with a guy inviting them aboard his boat.

What his intentions were is unknown. Was it just a friendly boat ride that ended in a triple murder? Did the boat blow up a long way from shore, with no survivors? Who knows?

But the idea of the girls swimming out to a pre-arranged boat pick-up for an abortion is just beyond imagination.

2 July 2026 will mark 60 years since these young women went missing.

I totally agree. I suspect an attempted sexual assault happened or it was a full on rape of one of the women which resulted in all three women being silenced to ensure no witnesses would come forward. If I was investigating this case I would try to find the boat’s owner(s). See if they have a criminal record or any incriminating rumors floated around them.

They are suppose to have video of the girls on the boat, which has never been released, why? I don't think it's them.

If a boat blew up, why wasn't it reported missing, or the guy on it, there were no reports of any missing boats or anyone else that weekend.

I think it's more likely they met with a "Ted Bundy, will you help me" type of guy on land and went to the parking lot with him and that's where the kidnapping happened.

You’re right…that’s possible. It was probably someone like Ted Bundy. It could mean there are other victims out there. But where to begin? I still think we need to find that boat and its owner.

I read this again from end to beginning. Some opinions. 1. How do we know, or police know that the film given to them is the only one out there. Some previous posters have mentioned people coming from different areas and this a local issue. Someone could have filmed something from a different angle, went home, didn't hear about it and then forgot about the film, it could be in someone's attic or basement in boxes. 2. Any mention of photos taken with a camera? Again, forgotten "road trip". 3. How old was the couple and were they the only ones by the women? Were young people questioned? They often see things that adults do not see. I mention this about the eight-year-old who shared her experiences in earlier threads. 4. Back to the film, what motivated the person to film the boat? Was it the boat itself or the young attractive women on it? Why wasn't the film showed to family members to verify it was their daughters on the boat? I believe in two theories: one the young man on the boat with the 3 women. I do not believe they were on the second boat, based on the witnesses near their belongings. If found, the film should be shown to surviving family members to verify that it is them on the second boat. Two, an explosion could have happened and all four died. Maybe no bodies, because what would be left to find? The wreckage found could be a clue, if it is the same boat. Anyone know if this was investigated thoroughly? The horse mafia is an interesting angle, Patty's brother mentioned that the women went to the lake the week before and met men. Who were they? Did her brother mentioned this to the police and if so, was this angle investigated? I could not find any family members speaking on behalf of the Miller and Bruhl families. What are their conclusions, theories and beliefs? Any still living? Someone has evidence, but they do not know the significance of it. A lost film or photos. Back to the young people, what did they see.? Some could be alive and have a different perceptive and maybe someone near the women heard something and kept silent all these years. All of this is my opinions and observations after reading the thread again.

My biggest question has always been, why wasn't the film of the boat with the women released to the public?

The boat owner might see it and contact police.
If it's not them, one of the women on the boat might see it and contact the police.
Someone who knows one of the 4 people on the boat or the boat itself might contact the police.

But the police didn't show anyone. If this film or stills from the film had been widely publicized in the press at the time, they probably would have had an answer as to whether it was the girls or not.

I had commented earlier in this thread that the three girls would look a lot alike from a distance. Dark haired with that 60's special bouffant hair style. They probably looked like hundreds of other girls at the beach. Back in the 60's girls hung out in groups when they went places like a beach. It could be as simple as 3 friends and 1 girl had a boyfriend with a boat. But we will never know because for some reason the police never released the information to the public.

I agree. That's why I wrote what I did, and I think it was in response to your earlier threads. Also, people do look alike. I remember the 70's with Farrah Fawcett Hairstyle. An example, I have a cousin overseas, never met her, saw a picture on email and it was like looking in a mirror. We could be twins. She wrote the same thing. 60 years this year. Hopefully newscasters can mention the film and where it is today.

I agree. I don’t know why the reluctance to release the film. Something smells off with this reluctance. With each passing year the chance of getting answers decreases. Why be so reluctant right now? Why not release it to the public?
