GUILTY IN - Ryan Martin, 29, murdered in suspect Talmadge Jasper's home, Lafayette, 23 May 2019

  • #221
Why?

This is probably his first major offense. Maybe he stole a candy bar, broke a window, etc... but he's more than likely never done anything that would lead to his DNA being on file with the state.
Respectfully disagree. Despite his age, my *amateur speculation and opinion* is that he will be tied to other serious crimes. As I've stated upthread, I do not see him standing trial, as it appears he is not competent, despite his intelligence level.

Again, all amateur opinion and speculation. Time will tell.

Or...

He may not have been caught committing another offense
Bingo.
Now that LE has his DNA/prints, we shall see.

Yeah, that's unlikely. More than likely, he has committed minor offenses.

I couldnt begin to speculate what leads you to conclude you have enough information to assess his competency or intelligence. Further, I dont think you understand how hard it is to be found not competent to stand trial.

And thus, the “amateur opinion and speculation”.

I guess time will tell. I stand by my speculation.

I also can’t think of a reason TJ would be found incompetent to stand trial either. At 18 years of age he was capable of holding down a job and he was involved in relationships with others.

It was allegedly his deliberate and deceptive actions to coverup the murder that caused suspicion to be directed toward him, not that he was suffering some sort of full blown psychotic episode, incapable of knowing he’d murdered RM.

Only guessing, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if TJ puts forth a self-defence argument. That he though RM only wanted to talk so he invited him in but instead RM threatened his life so TJ was forced to defend himself. Classic victim blaming. After he got scared and didn’t report RMs death to LE because he thought nobody would believe his side, the protection order already placed against him and what not. This sort of “pitiful me” story has played out before, usually an unsuccessful defence but the best and only that can be offered to counter the prosecution’s indisputable evidence of potential guilt.

According to the link below, Protection Orders in Indiana expire in 60 days. It seems to me that it can be “renewed”, instead of “refiled” (as in having to go through the process all over again). Not sure what that process would be, so I am just assuming this Protection Order listed on TJ’s current court case has been “renewed” from his ex gf. All MOO & Speculation.
courts.IN.gov: Protection Order Registry
From link:
BBM

The Indiana Protection Order Registry links Indiana courts issuing Protection and No-Contact Orders to the State Police’s Indiana Data and Communication System (IDACS) and the FBI’s National Crime Information Center (NCIC). Because orders are entered and available immediately, it:
  • Accelerates information-sharing by providing complete records in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures data accuracy and consistency.
  • Enhances state and national databanks.
  • Increases protection across state lines as well as within Indiana.
  • Reduces administrative work by local officers who currently re-type orders into IDACS.
  • Notifies victim that their order has been issued, served, and will expire in 60 days.

Is that bird and cat dead in his pictures on instagram? Creepy to me.

The bird is definitely NOT dead since I have seen it since that photo. TJ adores that bird and loves animals. Also, the cat Mel is NOT dead. I personally held him today.

I am so glad to hear that those animals were and are loved and are well. You must know TJ and I am sorry if I upset you by my comment. I know this must be a difficult time for you.

Seems like there was to be more to this all. I went online and looked Ryan up. I was very suprised to see how much trouble he was in. Looks like he was getting ready to get probation revoked and had a warrant before this. He would have been going to court on May 28.

Both the animals looked alive and well to me, for what it’s worth. TJ seemed to have an affinity for birds and cats. What made him kill, though? What in the world?

I just think there has to be more to the story. I looked up RM name on MyCase. My oh my I was shocked. I posted in on another comment. If SR was so scared of him she wouldn't have moved down the road from him.

How do you know this is the correct Ryan Martin? It's a pretty common name
His address was posted in the paper and birthdate. You just pull up Tippecanoe County and type his name in. You can then look at address
