ugh...so we won't see the pages prepared by AH.....

Well, no, but if he prepared them, he probably cited the wrong statute anyway...Based on his previous filing of charges in other cases.

In light of this news, I hope Tricia can get Kolar's radio show appearance moved up from December to soon! I'm sure he has information that he will now be able to discuss.

Oh my yes!!!!! Will be so interesting to see what becomes of this!

I will be very surprised if the Ramsey camp does not file somethihg (an injuction, perhaps) in the next 24 hours. He has to be sweating bullets about now.

I am kind of expecting that....

My opinion, that Brennan and his attorneys (and the judge) are on good legal ground with this decision. But that won’t stop JR from every legal tool in his lawyers’ books to stop it. I can hear the wheels turning: “Hey, I paid you to bury this. Call the Governor. Call the President if you have to, but get this buried!” moo

OT I have not closely followed this case but last night popped into the thread about the documents possibly being released. My jaw dropped when I read Judge Lowenbach was involved in the decision. I almost posted last night that my guess he would release them. I know him personally and have been in his courtroom previous times in Weld County, CO. His rulings that I have had experience with have always been fair and correct with the law IMO.

Good to see some hopeful movement in a case.

kai,

Any idea why Judge Andrew Hartman recused himself from this case? I've written both reporters covering this for The Daily Camera and asked for an explanation, but got no answer. I'd really like to know what connection he may have had to this that would cause him to recuse himself.

OMG! It's happening! Hot damn!!! I don't know what else to say, but this is great news, Brennan & co. are awesome, and the tap-dancing of JR and his criminal defense team will be worth watching-- pass the popcorn. :)

Time to go do a happy dance!

Peter Boyles discussed case today with guests Dan Caplis and Craig Silverman in first hour. Later in third hour, Carol McKinley and Julie Hayden.

(BTW, when he uses the exact same quotes as posted here on WS, I think he should give credit to our madeleine for finding them. Way to go, maddie!)

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlin...y-judge-orders-grand-jury-documents-released/

A Colorado judge today ordered the partial release of grand jury documents related to the 1996 unsolved slaying of 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey.

The documents are expected to be released Friday. Attorneys for John Ramsey have not responded to ABC News’ request for comment.
As stated in this article its a partial release. The judge declined to release the entire grand jury record.

Do the Ramseys and their attorneys already know what is in the indictment? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Apologies for what appears to be another stupid question:

I understand why John Ramsey would object to the release of the secret grand jury indictment, but why would he call for the release of the entire grand jury record?

Thanks!

My 3 guesses:
1) Access to all evidence would help if any obstreperous DA ever wanted to charge JR. Then his attorneys would be ready.
2) It would pollute a jury pool.
3) It's an attorney bluff. I don't believe for 1 minute they want everything out there. He's claiming just the indictment (18 pages total for PR and JR) would defame him. What would all the evidence do?

I don't know, but my guess is it was one of two reasons:

1. A bluff. He knows a judge is unlikely to release all records of the GJ so he hopes by playing the victim, yet again, he can get what he really wants, which of course would be none of the records released. OR

2. Patsy will look far guiltier than he will if the entire record is released.

Just my opinion, of course. But I still expect that he is doing everything in his power right now to stop this release. I bet his Lawyers are not getting any sleep tonight!

Hopefully, neither will he.

Tricia cautiously posted on FFJ that she is hoping to have Kolar on Sunday (Oct 28) broadcast, but no promises.

KEEP THE FAITH, ALL :please::please: :please:

Good thoughts. Best defense is a strong offense.

1) Exactly. If DA Garnett is planning to come forward with charges, they have lots of info in advance, and have a jump on not being surprised in court.
* Judge said no other docs to come forth - he's smart enough to know the play, and has protected the prosecution team with this decision.
2) Yep. Plants the idea in peer minds that Ramsey must have nothing to fear because of innocence in calling for full disclosure. Gives JR the edge of public sympathy towards innocence.
3) Maybe, but everything about Ramsey reaction over the years has been about working for public sympathy and deflection of guilt. I have to think the RST knows their only chance if Garnett proceeds is to paint a picture of Ramsey innocence as fast and thoroughly as possible.

As far as Lacy exonerating: Garnett did put out his comment that they Ramsey's are NOT cleared, even though Mr. Wood neglected to mention that in his letter - conveniently.

IF EVER THERE WAS A TIME FOR REAL HOPE, IT'S NOW. Brennan is my hero, and I have a hunch Garnett could be added to that list one day soon.
