Inside the Mind of Casey Anthony: A Psychological Portrait by Keith Ablow, MD

He added, “Jeffrey Ashton, the prosecutor, thought of Casey as a cold-blooded murderer and because of that he couldn’t fashion an effective prosecution. Casey Anthony is much more complicated than that.”
Anyone know what it is called in psychiatric terminology when a person assumes that just because there is "Dr." in front of their name that they can make assumptions and state them as fact?
“I think the prosecutor missed the boat,” said Ablow. “The most psychologically credible way to view this is as a mercy killing, namely deciding that it would be better for her daughter to be dead and in God’s hands than to leave her behind to fall into the hands of Cindy and George Anthony.”
“When people as estranged from themselves as Casey Anthony appears to be, they have very little empathy for others and they can suddenly tap into internal reservoirs of rage,” he explained.
Ablow says she demonstrates what he calls “identity suppression syndrome.”
Is that another term for sociopath?

I think Dr. Ablow is someone more than a person who stirs the pot and enrages people - because of his "professional position" he's just plain dangerous to be loose on society today.

On WS radio, Albow said he coined this phrase. He said Casey doesn't really fit into any other psychosis - and he totally disagrees with "sociopath".

Dr. Albow joins a long line of conscience-challenged Casey Anthony pundits....did I mention blood money?

Your tagline says it all. Thank you for making this about Caylee rather than this benomous vitch.

He's simply making things up. He should not have a license.

I'm a member of an online book club & posted a review saying evidently the Doctor is just floating his own theory about FCA. Then I said something to the effect of "It's Casey's great grandparents that are responsible for what she did? REALLY?"

(I did not read the book, nor do I plan to...not buying it or even getting it from a library - this book is in the dictionary under "DRIVEL.")

He was not directly involved in the case. Therefore, he HAD to come up with an alternative theory about what happened. Otherwise, no one would buy his book, because they could go straight to the source (Ashton's book, the other book that discusses the public documents, etc.). He should not have a license.

Yes, I knew that (it's what I meant about him floating his theory)...should have put that in my review, too!

Sure he is not related to the A family or possibly was given the kool-aid a few times?????? It just doesn't make sense now does it? How does he know how to categorize ms. A??????? HMMMMM????????????

I happen to read parts of the book. Cindy Plesea Anthony is the youngest child in her family of three siblings, all boys; Daniel, Rick, and Gary Plesea.

She is described as an enabler, which is no surprise. Dr. Ablow wrote that enablers are obsessed with power and control. It does not say how Cindy's childhood is like. Sounds like a dysfunctional family and has a history of estrangement like her daughter. Like daughter, like mother.

He does not make a DSM-IV diagnosis for Anthony. He believes he has Dissociative Identity Disorder, which I do not think he has.
[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissociative_identity_disorder"]Dissociative identity disorder - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

He also says that Anthony has issues of self-hatred. I am no psychologist, but I think Anthony has Narcissistic, Borderline, and Histrionic Personality Disorder. Anthony is a lot like Diane Downs, Lori Drew, Betty Broderick, and Jerry Sandusky when it comes to personality type, very narcissistic, sociable, and volatile. I don't think Downs has issues of self-hatred, while Drew and Anthony does, especially Drew.

BBM I believe that is what is referred to as a 'god complex,' although I don't think it is a psychiatric term, per se.

It must be what you said Oakley or else he would be seriously embarrassed by being so far off the mark with his comments about OCA..:banghead:

I don't know if Dr A has a 'god complex' or not, as I've never met him.

But people I've known who do, don't seem to be embarrassed or even aware of their arrogance. JMO

ETA Just realized (after posting the above, that you are basically saying the same thing I did, LG.

I don't think "God Complex" is a characteristic of Casey Anthony. I think the term for "God Complex" is "Superiority Complex". Examples of people having it are Fred Phelps, Osama bin Laden, Eric Harris, and Adolf Hitler.

Yes, I sure was!!!:woot:

IMO - the man spouts absolute rubbish! I've watched him in a couple of interview times, as hard as that was, and in the face of all kinds of behaviour, he just carries on with his thoughts - incredible!

LOL MMSHood! I've been following along closely with your comments, which are great, but this time you are off your mark - :great:

We are talking about Dr. Ablow not OCA with the god complex thing..:seeya:

I misread the comments. :blushing: My impression of Dr. Ablow was self-promoting and narcissistic, but with no issues of god complex. I still stand by my comment about Anthony not having a god complex.

It's all right - I could see what you were talking about - and I agree - although I'm not the researcher you are - she is many things but don't agree with the god complex. Dr. Ablow - maybe...

I find it hard to get over my dislike of the man to be able to make a contribution of any significance.
