So who takes a boyfriend (MM) to visit an ex boyfriend (DB)?
Good Lord.:waitasec::banghead:

This is kind of O/T, so I hope the mods don't slap me (:please:)

I just got done reading about a case in Michigan where a man had his mistress fly up from Florida to meet with his wife to resolve their problems! Turned out the mistress was claiming she was both dying and pregnant (both lies), so the man wanted the wife to consider raising the child once the mistress was dead. But even with that excuse, it's incredible to me that any man would be stupid enough to suggest such a thing. The wife did go to the meeting -- supposedly it didn't go well.

Not sure the judge would have allowed Jodi to fire him, but I am curious about what would have happened if Nurmi had gone to the judge and said he knew his client was going to lie on the stand and he couldn't get her to see reason.

if you put your client on the stand and you know they're going to lie, you ARE supposed to tell the judge that in advance. i would hope nurmi did that, because he knows she's lying. there's no WAY he doesn't know she's lying. so that's the requirement as far as i know and it's not something we would be told had happened.

I find righteous indignation a quality that I think every good attorney needs. Regardless if its a prosecutor or a defense attorney. I like my lawyers passionate and cocky !

Nurmi is the kind of lawyer that just brings out a feeling of disgust.
His style I liken to a sloth.

Thanks Linda ... I totally agree with the "sloth" style comment. I have been saying that throughout my very few posts on Nurmi ... Glad to see someone else sees the "sloth" analogy .... blech! And .... I agree with the "passionate and cocky (confident)" analogy for Juan. I LOVE that he is so passionate for the family of the victim. He is going to totally resurrect Travis's good reputation and gift wrap this for the surviving family members. She (JA) will NOT get away with murdering him ... and her attempt at murdering what is left of him (his reputation). Juane is focused and on a mission ... make no mistake (and you can mark my words on that!). :rocker:

My3sons, I was floored when I heard Jodi say that. I believe he told her that but I feel like that was a HUGE reason she went balistic.

Yep, exactly. I about fell over when she said it! Plus, it cleared up the two nagging questions in my mind--motive and why he participated 6/4. All that from a question from her OWN lawyer! You'd think Nurmi would have figured out by now to get that woman off the stand!

I've read some post and someone said Nurmi was just as bad as Jodi since he's helping her destroy TA reputation or smething along those lines. (Sorry didn't quote and I don't want to search for it.)

But can defense lawyers even tell someone what their defense should be? I always figured they just went along with what their clients wanted and tried to make the best of it even if they doubt their clients version of events.

Plus I'd rather JA pull all the stops in this defense than give her any ground for appeal and have her complaining that her defense team didn't listen to her.

I don't think it would have been hard to find a doctor to testify that there was something seriously wrong with Jodi!!! But, technically, I don't think she's legally insane, she denies she has any mental problems, and I don't think insanity defenses work unless there's a long documented history of hearing voices, hospitalizations, etc.

I don't think there is any way Jodi would have ALLOWED her DT to use an insanity defense. She bristles and gets defensive when questions about her memory come up. "I think I have a good memory."

She's far too narcissistic to claim to be insane. She thinks she's smarter than EVERYBODY in that courtroom. :twocents:

I have asked several times, but can't get a response that makes sense...why would Jodi take pictures of Travis in the shower without his knowledge? Nothing about this hypothesis makes sense to me. I can't understand why people think Jodi would have done this especially since neither side has suggested It. And no, I don't accept "that's just crazy Jodi" as a good answer!

Why it doesn't make sense:
1. Use of flash
2. He's looking right in the camera at the end
3. He's clearly posing in the pics of his back
4. She deleted the pictures (not blackmail)
5. She planned to kill him....in the shower and this was a way to get him in there and not have him be suspicious about why she's in the bathroom with him

Please, someone enlighten me.

JA's thinking was to make this murder look like someone broke in and shot Travis while in the shower, guard down and helpless.
JA talked him into letting her take pictures. This would give her the opportunity to get a better shot to the head.

I guess the Prosecution still has to argue their case, if I'm following correctly. And I wonder if JM is going to follow up with the magazine notes that JA tried to sneak out of the jail. Can he bring up new charges, like Obstruction of Justice? That way, even if she gets 20 years (which will really only be 10 years with good behavior ... and she's already served 2 years) she can face even more time for this charge. I don't know why no one followed up with Casey Anthony on Obstruction of Justice, because she pulled all kinds of shenanigans to cover herself. I'm so tired of murderers getting away with taking a life1

Another question, does anyone know where she would serve further time? Will it be at Joe Arpaio's prison? I hope so because her time would be tough under his watch.

A gun demands attention. If JA showed up with a knife the safest place for Travis would be to stay in the shower. He would be crazy to come out. There is no room to maneuver a knife in a tiny enclosure.

If you are given a choice between facing a person with a knife either in a shower or in a nice sized room...you would choose a shower??

Is Deanna Reid going to testify? She hasn't already-has she?

o/t stay safe, I think they are downgrading it to about a 4.7, but there is quite a swarm going on there today.

O/t but its a crazy swarm! Over 200 in just the last couple hours.

seems to me this jury could make short work of their verdict if they first decide whether they believe the defendant.

1. do we believe TA encouraged her to come to AZ?
2. do we believe her allegations of sexual and physical abuse?
3. do we believe she didn't try to conceal her trip to AZ?
4. do we buy the 'fog?'
5. do we believe this was a case of self defense?
6. do we believe she used a gun owned by TA that nobody else knew he had?

there are other questions, of course, but i think the answer to those should be a resounding NO because all of those things aren't corroborated by ANY evidence other than what she says.
they can easily throw out every word she said on the stand and just move to the evidence. then it wouldn't take long at all.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio runs the jail not prison.
She would be transferred to prison.

I dont think the evidence supports he was shot in the head while in the shower. I think the evidence supports that she knifed him first and the gunshot was done after he was able to get out of the shower. The casing position shows he was not in the shower when shot imo.

In fact I think it was when she drug him back to the bathroom. Imo she was hearing some agonal breathing escaping from his airways and thought he was still alive and she shot him before putting his dead body back in the shower.

But I do agree she tricked him into getting in the shower so he would be in a small confined space and surrounded on three sides with no way out but toward her holding the knife.

IMO

Jodi answered a juror question that when she first started coming out of the fog out in the desert when she stopped to clean up, she first thought "oh crap, something bad has happened." Who murders someone and then thinks "oh crap." When you break a fingernail, you think "oh crap." I wanted to slap her for saying that.

I agree, although I suppose you could make an argument that there are all kinds of "knowing" that someone is lying. Maybe he tells himself since he couldn't prove she's lying, he has to accept her word. It's ridiculous, yes, since there's plenty of evidence that she lies. Maybe he just wants so desperately to believe he can win this case, that he ignores what's in front of his eyes. Plus, apparently Jennifer Wilmott and that mitigation specialist are in favor of Jodi's defense.

I don't think Nurmi's going to get in any trouble for allowing her to lie on the stand. I'm just wondering if he could have been taken off the case if he had gone to the judge. It would interesting to know.

If it was a woman brandishing a knife at me while I was in that enclosure I would close the door and hold it first, think about the situation, talk to the attacker, come up with a plan and proceed once I had more control of the situation. I would want to use the door for my defense and hit the woman with it when the time was right.

IMO, this is WHY you hire a lawyer. lawyers want to win cases. they don't just say 'so what do you want to do here? how do we handle this?'

no, you hire an attorney, you tell him/her the truth (because it's absolutely safe with atty/client privilege) and you let him/her do the job of defending you. you help, you take their advice, provide them with information you know, etc. but this is how they earn their living----and why if you have the means, you get the best defense attorney you can.
