It's still all about him, he was kissing her head, worst day of his life, he's not a monster, once he started lying, he couldn't stop. Poor Tina though, well she was just lying on the floor...... JMO

And describing her face post mortem as thought it is filled with her anger and not her fear at what he was doing to her. I detest this man so deeply.

Still trying to make Tina out to be the aggressor, no shame. JMO

The repeated use of the R slur in his statement is making me rage. Also tells me so much about him.

So, according to his interview, she's on top of him, attacking him with a chisel. He's trying to stop her and at the same time gets her belt off and manages to wrap it round her neck and strangle her.
How many pairs of hands does this man have!
Unbelievable!

I can't picture how she wouldn't raise herself up out of his reach if this was the scenario. Also nobody strangles as quickly as he is making out, it takes sustained effort.

Someone correct me if my armchair forensics are all wrong, but isn't the lack of hyoid bone damage a sign of ligature strangulation from behind? I know it's manual from in front that can break it, but ligature from the front I don't know.

Also he said something about cutting the belt off later, so did he tie it around her neck? If we assume she was on top of him attacking him (doubtful IMO), did he wrap the cord and tie it and pull? Need to cut it off suggests a double knot not a single one?

Yeah not adding up for me at all, his story. Not one bit.

I've been wondering if he thought he might try to make it look like Tina made a noose with the belt, but Tina fought back too hard and it just wouldn't be possible to try convince anyone it was suicide? All the talk he went on with about her nails, would someone with such well groomed nails really be scraping at plaster with a chisel? JMO.

Excellent points! I never thought of it (never had nice nails, more of a tomboy), but I think you are right, Tina never picked up a chisel to scrape walls.

And her fighting back... ties in with him constantly going on about how nobody could do anything to her because she would fight back too hard. Blimey he really was leaking everywhere!

I've just remembered one reason I was suspicious of him from the start, her disappearance was within weeks of the end of the Ian Stewart trial (Helen Bailey murder) and the MO of waiting 5 days before reporting her missing then claiming she'd gone off to get space etc was so similar, almost like he'd read it in the papers. Pure assumption of course, but it dinged hard for me at the time, being quite invested in that case (widowed friends of mine were in the same FB group they met in.)

I remember wondering whether there was an old septic tank in the back yard and spending hours searching old OS maps for hints as to the age of the house and when municipal drains were installed there. Never thought he was sitting watching TV almost on top of her, saying "Hi Tina" as he walked past her. Ugh, it's so chilling.

I'm at that stage of the trial where I find myself anxiously hoping the jury is seeing through all of this!

Tina was 5'6"/5'7" and medium build. Here's a picture of Richard with Tina, he towers over her:

He's clearly a pretty able-bodied guy with all those "renovations." If this little woman came after him with a chisel, like he couldn't control her and restrain her without murdering her, really?

If he'd restrained Tina under the circumstances he's describing, she'd be alive today. She could back up his story. But since he's making it all up, none of this is feasible.

None of this happened. She may have fought, but she was fighting for her life at that point.
The only thing I believe from interview evidence, after she was located, is that he strangled her with the dressing gown belt. I don't believe anything else.
Totally agreed. The guy's a pathological liar.

It still baffles me how it took them so long to find Tina and arrest him.

It's not so baffling when you are familiar with how things work in Ireland. Have a look at Imelda Keenan from Waterford, missing 30+ years. JoJo Dullard another one. The list is so long TBH.

A tenner says court will adjourn for the day - it's a beautiful sunny day in Ireland, the barbecues will be waiting!

Tina Satchwell missing

“It seemed like forever, but also not forever if that makes sense,” Satchwell said.

“Did she come downstairs with the intention of attacking me or was it because I startled her? I don’t know.” “I put her in the way she was. I didn’t try and cover anything up. I didn’t do anything to the body to try and make it look like it was something it wasn’t.”

Detective Noonan put it to Satchwell: “In your opinion, did the belt and how you were holding it cause her death?”

Satchwell replied: “I honestly can’t say for certain but to me, yeah. As to 100% on details, I can’t give that to you.”

“I am sick of living behind a mask.” “I want to make that clear now. I am not trying to hold anything back from you.

“I have nothing to gain from twisting it. I have nothing to gain from what comes out, and I have nothing to lose.”

That's a lot of over-explaining isn't it? Almost as if he had done something to make it look like it was something it wasn't.....but it didn't work out. JMO
