Steve Thomas talks about entering the Paugh home and finding one room devoted to Patsy and Pam Paughs pageant days. This was something that occured almost twenty years earlier! Nedra being obsessed with pageants is an understatement.
JonBenet....I wished she were born a boy. Her life was not her own but her mothers, her aunt Pam's and dear old grandma. She never had a chance to be JonBenet.
Look at some pics of Patsy in her costumes and you see JonBenet's pics with costumes similar to Patsy's. JonBenet was Patsy Paugh Jr. She would fall asleep watching Mom's and Aunt Pam's pageant videos. She would also watch Shirley Temple videos. Her life was chronicled through pictures galore, sayings I doubt she authored on her own...all for the big day...Miss America.
Patsy was one of the worse mothers/stage mothers I've ever heard of. She literally took the spirit and life out of this precious little baby.
I agree. I watched some of a show about pageants the other night...it was not "Living Dolls", but another one. That followed four 6 year olds through their pageants. I was appalled to see the mother's paying 2 thousand dollars for FAKE TEETH, for their daughters that were missing some, and 6 year olds having a SPRAY TAN, before slipping into their BIKINIS!!! I turned the channel after seeing one little girl doing a routine with a SCARF, and pulling it back and forth between her legs....with her mom screaming..."YOU'RE NOT DOING IT RIGHT, go back and do it again". She told the guy making the documentary, that she and the little girl would be up until 11:00 perfecting her routine.....and getting up at 6 am, to get ready for the pageant that day. FAKE TANS, FALSE TEETH? They were taught that being the way that they were, was NOT good enough. A friend of mine was in over 200 pageants...and won every single one of them....she was a beautiful girl. Her mom pushed her and pushed her to be in them. When she finally got married, and got out of the pageant life, I was visiting her one day at her new home. I said, "Where are your 200 trophies? I don't see them anywhere"? She said to me ..."they are still over at my mother's house, because they belong to HER anyway". Well, she could never be good enough, and she ended up on drugs....her husband left her, so she hooks up with a drug dealer who kills her when he shoots her IN THE FACE when she threatened to leave him. 9 times out of 10, thats where these little girls end up....because, they feel that they are not perfect, and can never measure up.
