Those of us who do not share borders with Hamas governed land should be thankful for every moment of every day. And, we should support those who DO have to live next door to any Hamas-loving person.
I share borders with Ukraine, meaning raging war.

Hamas video claims an Israeli hostage in Gaza was killed in an Israeli airstrike

From CNN's Andrew Carey

A video has emerged on a Hamas social media channel which claims an Israeli woman held hostage in Gaza has been killed in an Israeli airstrike.

The clip — which is just over a minute in length — appeared Monday evening on the Telegram channel of the Al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the woman’s family is aware of the video’s existence.

CNN is not showing any of the video and has not confirmed her death.

Most of the video shows the woman speaking into camera reading a short statement. She gives details of her father and mother, her hometown and her Israeli ID. She gives her age as 19.

After the spoken statement, the video shows an image of what appears to be the woman’s body, following what the video claims was her death in an Israeli airstrike on November 9.

In a short statement late Monday, the IDF said an army representative had visited the family home to inform them of the video.

“Hamas continues to use psychological terror and acts inhumanely, through videos and photos of the hostages, as it has done in the past,” the IDF statement said.

Brazil’s president has accused Israel of “killing innocent people without any criteria” in the Gaza Strip, deeming its actions there “as grave” as the 7 October attacks by Palestinian militant group Hamas, Agence France-Presse reports.

At an official ceremony in Brasilia, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said:

After the act of terrorism provoked by Hamas, the consequences, the solution of the state of Israel, is as grave as that of Hamas. They are killing innocent people without any criteria.

The leader of Latin America’s largest country also accused Israel of “dropping bombs where there are children, hospitals, on the pretext that a terrorist is there.”

“This is inexplicable. First you have to save the women and children, then you fight with whomever you want,” Lula said.

Representatives of Brazil’s Jewish community denounced these remarks as “erroneous”, “unfair” and “dangerous”, adding that they “put Israel and Hamas on the same level”.

They defended the “visible and proven” efforts of the Israeli authorities “to save Palestinian civilians”.

“Our community expects balance from our authorities,” added the Israeli Confederation of Brazil, which claims to represent some 120,000 Brazilian Jews, the second largest community in the region, in a statement.

Lula’s comments came as he welcomed to Brasilia 22 Brazilians and 10 members of their families who had been evacuated from Gaza on Sunday via the land border with Egypt, after more than a month of waiting in the conflict zone.

'We will dance again,' Nova Festival organizers vow

Nova producers held a memorial event for the victims of the Hamas massacre on October 7.

A memorial event to honor the victims of the Nova music festival at Re’im was held by its production company in Sdot Yam near Caesarea.

"The festival was meant to be a celebration of love and freedom, but it ended in a murderous terrorist attack," said Omri Sassi and Nimrod Arnin.

They shared their shock, fear, and horror, recalling the agonizing experience of waiting for help that never arrived and their efforts to rescue hundreds of participants.

Vivian Silver

"As of last week, when her son spoke with Day 6 host Brent Bambury, Zeigen said he still believed his mother was alive.

While her house had been burned to the ground, a body hadn't been found at that time, he said, and there was "no evidence there of a struggle or bullets," leading the family to believe she had been taken hostage.
...

Silver moved to Kibbutz Be'eri, just kilometres away from the Israel-Gaza border, because she wanted to be a part of a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "She always believed that people, if you take away the agendas and politics and the [ideologies], were the same," Zeigen told Day 6.
...

Silver had been an active member in a variety of humanitarian groups. She was a founding member of a movement called Women Wage Peace, which advocates for an end to Israeli-Palestinian conflict and for women to be involved in the peace process."

Biden’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has confirmed that Washington, which has firmly backed Israel over its offensive against Hamas, has raised the issue of protecting Gaza’s hospitals with its ally. Agence France-Presse reports:

“We do not want to see firefights in hospitals,” he told a briefing. “We want to see patients protected, we want to see hospitals protected.”
He added: “We have spoken with the Israeli government about this and they have said they share that view that they do not want to see firefights in hospitals.”
Sullivan also said the US wanted to see “considerably longer pauses – days, not hours” in the fighting.
The White House said last week that Israel had agreed to daily four-hour humanitarian pauses in the fighting to let civilians out of northern Gaza and aid in.

Vivian Silver was known to the people of Gaza because she facilitated their transportation to and from hospitals in Israel. Gaza employees at the kibbutzim mapped out every house, school and medical clinic for Hamas militants. I think Hamas viewed Vivian Silver as a threat because she advocated for women having a voice in a peaceful future. Hamas doesn't want peace, so they don't want a Canadian Israeli woman putting ideas in their womens' heads. I think they intentionally burned her house to the ground early in the massacre to silence her.

CIA declined to comment. CNN has not seen the intelligence cited by the US official.

NBC also reported they have been unable to confirm. It's pretty obvious the U.S. media do not trust the IDF.
JMO

NBC News has not independently verified the video shown and provided by the IDF, nor has it verified what the items seen in the hospital were used for or whether the motorcycle was used on Oct. 7.

The IDF literally had to delete a tweet yesterday in which they said ambulances and hospitals are legitimate military targets, so I don't trust them either

LOL. Of course CNN hasn't "seen" it!! That would be Top Secret Int.

Nor should CNN see it. It's Top Secret Intelligence from an Allied Nation. Nor should the CIA comment on it as it's Top Secret Intelligence from an Allied nation. Top Secret Intelligence being handled appropriately and IAW all Allied & National security protocols in this case.

The appropriate sources in the US Government and the White House have seen it have seen it however according to your linked article. Rather than doubting it based upon an MSM source not being allowed to see the Top Secret Intelligence, I'll take anything from the White House (the source named in your article) denying that that intelligence exists and has been seen by them.

I do bet you that we'll see it in any war crimes trial that occurs though ... long after Israel's enemy would be able to use that Intelligence against them. That's how it works.

Just like the prosecution NEVER puts it's evidence out into the "open domain" prior to the murder trial. Except that this is an even worse scenario - it's a full scale war.

You do, but Ukraine is not at war with Poland, and neither are they the aggressors. They did not start their war, either.

Though you share a border with a country at war, they are not coming after you.

Ukrainians are not crossing your border to destroy your families, rape the women and girls, kidnap Poles or set you on fire.

Their war is a defensive war against Russia, the aggressor here.

It is equivalent to the border shared by Russia/Ukraine, not Ukraine/Poland.

In fact IIRC, many Ukrainians escaped to Poland, where they were taken in and given care.

IMO

As we should what? See it?

See Top Secret Intelligence while a war is on!? That's an absolute "no" from this military member. That kind of bunk puts sources & soldiers' lives at risk.

I bolded some of your comment. The “As we should” is for:

we'll see it in any war crimes trial that occurs though

Sorry for not being clear.

True.
I respect your loyalty to Israel.
We might not always agree on some details ;)

It means a lot in a heated discussion.

Your manners show you are a teacher :D
I love all teachers - because I love myself hahaha

Hugs from Polish teacher :)
