With ALL due respect,

Hamas and their actions are just as relevent to this thread and discussion as Israel and their actons are. Hamas and their actions of 7 October is, after all, why we are here today.

It's a war and there are two sides. The truth is always somewhere in between.

I didn’t say it’s not relevant, did I.

Please do not twist my words.

In scrolling through today, I feel compelled to post-
Can we all agree to the following:
*People on both sides have been deeply wounded, literally and figuratively
* People on both sides wish fervently the attacks on October 7 had never happened
* People on both sides want Hamas gone, in the worst way
* People on both sides will need support and healing, wherever they are

UNRWA chief says 'deliberate attempt to strangle' UN agency's operations in Gaza

Philippe Lazzarini, the commissioner general of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), has said he believed there was a deliberate attempt to “strangle” its humanitarian work in Gaza.

Speaking to journalists in Geneva on Thursday, he said:

I do believe there is a deliberate attempt to strangle our operation and paralyse the operation.
He added that UNRWA, which supports more than 800,000 displaced Palestinians in Gaza, was at risk of suspending its operations entirely.

The UN agency has pleaded for weeks for access to fuel, he said, adding that it was “outrageous” to force humanitarian aid agencies to beg for fuel.

A truck carrying 24,000 litres (6,340 gallons) of diesel fuel for UN aid distribution trucks was allowed into Gaza on Wednesday – marking the first time Israel has approved a truck carrying fuel into Gaza since the start of the war.

The delivery is nowhere near what Gazans need to survive, Lazzarini said, adding:

Because of the lack of fuel, we will not be able to send our trucks across the south of the Gaza Strip where we have people waiting for humanitarian deliveries.

"Christmas display in Bethlehem is cancelled by Palestinian authorities

'in honour of Hamas martyrs' as Israel continues to battle terrorists in Gaza."

  • It is the first time decorations will not be seen in Manger Square in modern times
  • Authorities say plans were scrapped 'in solidarity with our people in Gaza'

Demonstrators calling for ceasefire in Gaza block bridge in Boston

Demonstrators calling for a ceasefire in Gaza block traffic on the Boston University bridge during rush hour this morning, slowing traffic to a trickle.

The group chants “Ceasefire now!” during the protest, and also hold signs that say, “Let Gaza Live.” The bridge connects Boston and Cambridge.

Activists were demanding that Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts support an immediate ceasefire and use her influence to stop the IDF military campaign.

Humanitarian aid and assistance continues to flow into Gaza.

1,373 trucks carrying food, water and medicine have entered Gaza since the start of the war.

Our forces have also transferred incubators and medical supplies to the Shifa hospital.

Our fight is with Hamas, not with the people of Gaza.

Over 90% of UNRWA's funding comes from "voluntary contributions" from U.N. member states, according to recent financial data. The agency says it received over $1 billion in total pledges last year. With a contribution of $344 million, the U.S. was the largest individual donor in 2022, followed by Germany and other European countries.

But Israeli politicians, including current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have at times called for UNRWA's dismantling, saying that the agency does the work that should be done by a government that includes elected Hamas officials.

"Israel regards UNRWA as part of the problem," said Ahron Bregman, an Arab-Israeli relations scholar with the King's College in London. "With UNRWA support to Palestinian refugees — feeding them, educating them, providing them with health facilities — Hamas is free to fight."

ETA: I just re-read this, @Brightchaser47, and realized that I cannot agree that people on both sides wish Oct 7 never happened. Hamas denies they ever did it. Their aim is still to eradicate Jews from the face of the earth. So, no. Sadly.
I was referring to the Palestinians (who don't support Hamas). I believe that some who  did are suffering "buyer's remorse", hence the wording. But it's just my opinion.:)

I realized that after I edited. And then edited again. Just ignore me this morning, lol! :p

I wonder how to tell the difference?
In my opinion, actions tell the difference. I was taught that "actions speak louder than words" (and I believe that).

The Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant announced today that Special Forces are continuing to Operate within the Al-Shifa Medical Complex where Significant Discoveries have recently been made, but also that Israeli Ground Troops have now managed to Fully-Capture the West of Gaza City thus cutting off Hamas from the Mediterranean and any further Naval Operations.

If I understand this correctly, the US has been donating to both sides. So we really can't call them biased, imo.

Israel to screen footage from Oct. 7 massacre for UN officials and envoys in New York

Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan says he will hold a screening of the grisly footage gathered on October 7 for UN envoys at the United Nations in New York next week.

The event is slated to take place on Monday, November 20 and Erdan says he has invited envoys from around the world as well as UN officials to attend the screening.

The time has come for the distorted UN, which makes immoral equivalencies between Israel and Hamas, to see with its own eyes what kind of barbaric murders it is worried about and maybe understand how much it has betrayed its original mission,” says Erdan in a statement.

In keeping with regulations for other such screenings of the footage, attendees will not be allowed to bring in any phones or recording devices in order to respect the families of the victims.
