I think I would want to arm myself if I lived in Israel after Oct 7th. I don't even know how they'd feel safe again WITH a weapon. The government of a country beside them is a terrorist organization and one of their main goals is to wipe Jews off the planet and they just successfully carried out an attack where they breeched the border and massacred entire villages of people and took 200+ hostages.

I'd want to go down fighting.

Not just if living in Israel, jmo…

(FYI Khan Younis is Sinwar’s birthplace and several phones of hostages pinged there on/after 10/7)

The IDF calls on the residents of the eastern neighborhoods of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip to evacuate their homes, for the first time since the start of the war. In leaflets dropped by the Air Force, the army said: "For your safety, you must leave your place of residence immediately and evacuate to one of the known shelters." A significant step indicating an expected expansion of the IDF's operation.

Do you suppose raiding al-Shifa hospital was (at least partly) about optics and gathering intel all along? It proved Hamas  was using the hospital, and proved Israel was willing and able to take it over. Also, those were Palestinian babies who were to be evacuated, weren't they?
(Although I still think hostages were there) jmo

It looks like Hamas terrorists are running away and hoping to blend into the civilian population. They're leaving behind everything that connects them to their terrorist origins.

TBVH, I don't blame them, after seeing all the protests, open hostility and vandalism, worldwide. It's gotten insane. Surely, you can make your feelings known, without destroying everything in sight, imo.

Like we're not going to figure it out.
BTW, I don't recall seeing many of them wearing gloves (if you get my drift)...

I don’t, at all, think it was for optics. The IDF said from the start that Al Shifa was important. That’s why they tried evacuating it over and over. They knew what was there (and we’ve probably only seen a tiny bit) and knew they had to get to the underbelly. They are Palestinian babies. They are safe now. Fed, warm and protected. IMO

NBC News was unable to independently confirm what was shown in the video. The video does not appear to show definitive evidence that a Hamas command center exists beneath the hospital, a claim that Israeli officials have repeatedly made.

UK charity's Gaza manager revealed to be Hamas military medical official

A report to British authorities alleges that the Gaza manager for Global Relief Trust is a Hamas official; was on the ground at the Al Ahli Hospital incident

Ahmed Yusuf Alloh was revealed to be one of the Hamas medical officials that was falsely reporting of mass casualties caused by Israel after a Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) rocket fell in the parking lot of Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza, the GnasherJew exclusively shared more of their investigative findings with i24NEWS.

The open-source intelligence (OSINT) investigation by GnasherJew showed the extent of Alloh's role in the Hamas propaganda machine, as Operations and Emergency Director with the rank of lieutenant-colonel.

So glad about the babies. :)

I don't think it's optics. I think they knew it was a headquarters for HAMAS and they were right. They haven't went under the hospital yet that I know of, but I bet as they get further in to the search, they will find the access points for the tunnels. This is not just one building, it's a complex so I am sure they have much to search.

Look at the media posts about this and even the posts here in this forum accusing Israel of things that are the direct fault of HAMAS.. NOT Israel. I never doubted Israel had intel that brought them to that hospital. There was no other reason to surround and hold fast to this hospital if they didn't KNOW it was a HAMAS hub. The doctors saying it wasn't and they were being shot at and so on.. sure made the world get all riled up about Israel wanting these babies to die and everything else that was said. Sick. Israel has no motive to let babies die. But HAMAS sure does. They would love to see babies die and the world blame Israel. They were in that hospital all along, as they are in others. They are hiding among the innocent civilians. If they cared at all about babies and innocent civilians they would NEVER put them in harms way by hiding in hospitals and schools.. They wouldn't put rocket launchers close to those places either. When they misfire or fail guess who is harmed? Guess who is blamed? Such a twisted story it is when terrorist are terrorizing and the good guys get blamed for it.

This is not going to be easy for Israel and the war in the media over "war crimes" is not helping. Israel is trying to root out an enemy that is hiding in places that should be safe. How should they proceed? Let HAMAS go and retreat? Give up looking for the hostages? Or continue to hunt down HAMAS wherever they are.. even in the civilian places. Each time innocent civilians are killed, Israel is evil and horrible and how dare they.. but what about HAMAS hiding among them putting them all in danger? Where is the outrage there? There isn't any.

What happens if Israel retreats and HAMAS regroups.. HAMAS takes the supplies for the civilians and continues to wage war against Israel and more innocent civilians die because Israel let HAMAS get away?

Perhaps what Israel is doing is for the benefit of everyone including Palestinians?

Not surprised at all. I believe many of us here questioned WHO was reporting these numbers, where they got them from and if they were HAMAS?

HAMAS runs the health ministry in Gaza.. so it seems safe to conclude many of those talking loudest about situations in hospitals and casualties are just doing the work of HAMAS.

I asked previously about Dr Mads Gilbert who has worked at Al-Shifa for many, many years and has claimed for many, many years that - in simple terms - Gaza terrorists are great, Israel is bad. Simply google Dr Gilbert's name and you will find many recent news reports and more. But, here's a hours-old report where he claims the horrors of IDF, but most interestingly....we find out he WAS NOT at Al-Shifa hospital when it was raided! (Yeah he claims he's been trying to get back into Gaza... that's fine... but why was he NOT there with his beloved people?!! Why has he spent weeks in Cairo? Why is he on a speaking tour?!!)

AMY GOODMAN: We’re joined now by Dr. Mads Gilbert, Norwegian physician who’s worked in Al-Shifa for years, just spent weeks in Cairo getting — trying his best to get into Gaza. He’s a professor at University Hospital of North Norway and the Arctic University of Norway who’s worked with Palestinians since 1981, was in Gaza there during the major Israeli bombardments of 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2014. Dr. Gilbert, where are you right now?

DR. MADS GILBERT: Right now I arrived this early morning in Johannesburg in South Africa. I will be on an invited speaking tour here on Gaza and Palestine, but with —

Are there any programmes to heal this situation?
After all, Israelis and Palestinians are "stuck" with one another living in this region.

And now, the sale of guns soars

JMO
Unfortunately, no. What a child hears at home has a far greater influence on them than any school textbook.
