I agree. Somewhere in our thread are two tweets from IDF, recorded conversations with a staff member at Shifa, trying to evacuate the babies. They also discussed the fuel delivery, that was not accepted. Whomever this person, they seemed sincere.
I'm so happy they are able to leave.

Moo, hopefully others remember, it's very time consuming to find

''IDF releases video, audio evidence of Hamas fuel interference

The IDF released three separate recordings of the event. The first was an audio recording of an exchange between a representative of the Coordination and Liaison Administration (CLA), which implements civilian policy regarding the Israeli government's activity in the Gaza Strip, and an official from Shifa Hospital. ''

''The two discussed the delivery logistics, explaining where to go and how it would be conducted.

"After we deliver the fuel," the CLA representative said, "our forces will move back so that they won't be next to the junction. You will send an ambulance to take the fuel."
The second was a video of IDF soldiers delivering 300 liters of fuel on Sunday morning near the hospital''.

''Finally, the IDF shared a recording of a conversation between an IDF officer and a health official in Gaza, in which the health official stated that Yusef Abu Rish, director general of Gaza's Hamas-run Health Ministry, prevented the hospital from receiving the fuel.

"There is a problem at Shifa," said the health official. "Be patient with me."

"What's the story?" asks a CLA representative.

"Abu Rish doesn't want this amount [of fuel]. We are trying to convince him."

IDF Spokesperson R.-Adm. Daniel Hagadi said the military would help evacuate babies from the hospital, at the request of the staff at Shifa.''

US official says there will only be a ‘significant pause’ in Gaza when hostages released

US President Joe Biden’s main adviser on the Middle East says there will only be a “significant pause” in the Israel-Hamas war if hostages held by Hamas and other terror groups in Gaza are freed.

“The surge in humanitarian relief, the surge in fuel, the pause… will come when hostages are released,” Brett McGurk tells a security conference in Bahrain.

Release of a large number of hostages would result in “a significant pause… and a massive surge of humanitarian relief,” he says.

McGurk says Biden discussed the issue last night with the ruler of the Gulf nation of Qatar, which is leading mediation efforts towards a ceasefire and release of the captives.

There are believed to be some 240 hostages kidnapped from Israel and held captive in Gaza. Since October 7, four have been released and one was rescued by the IDF, while the military has recovered the bodies of two hostages in Gaza in the past few days.

Israeli army says it's expanding operations in north Gaza

A little earlier we reported on claims that a UN school-turned-shelter in Jablia, northern Gaza, had been hit. (Our BBC Verify colleagues analysed some footage of the incident here.)

Since then the Israeli military has shared an operational update, describing how it's "continuing and expanding its operational activities" in parts of the Palestinian enclave.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) say that in the last 24 hours troops have "conducted activities in the Zaytun and Jabalia areas, during which they encountered terrorists who intentionally operated from civilian areas and attacked the troops using anti-tank missiles and explosives".

It adds that its forces "eliminated" a number of Hamas operatives in the process, "and struck a large number of terrorist infrastructure".

Earlier, IDF spokesperson Lt Col Peter Lerner said the force was investigating the reported school blast.

Gallant: It will take ‘more time’ to return sense of security to residents in north

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant during an assessment in the north on November 18, 2023. (Ariel Hermoni/Defense Ministry)

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says that along the border with Lebanon the IDF is working to actively strike Hezbollah targets and return security in the north of the country.

Following an assessment with IDF officials in the north, Gallant says in a statement that the military is “carrying out a police of active defense, exacting a price against every threat, in the air and on the ground.”

[...]

“Our goal is to make residents of the north feel safe — this process will take a little more time but we will get there.”

I fail to understand a world in which October 7th is an ordinary day. Nothing new, nothing to see here?

Israel has had enemies going back to Old Testament days. There were no Muslims then. Jews have always lived there but were expelled during the Babylonian Captivity. They returned and of course in the time of the Jewish rabbi, Jesus, they were under Roman captivity.

I‘ve visited the Arch of Titus in Rome, wherein is a depiction of a menorah being carried off from the destruction of the Second Jewish Temple in A.D. 70. (The proceeds of which built the Colosseum).

Jerusalem is mentioned hundreds of times in the Old and New Testaments. It is not mentioned in the Quran at all. Yet Muslims fight over it being “their” city that they call Al-Quds.

So, even though there is an ANCIENT history of Jews being persecuted and killed, within Israel and without such as the Spanish Inquisition or during the Holocaust, it boggles my mind that you would say nothing new happened on October 7th.

Yes, you’re entitled to your opinion. If your opinion is that nothing “new” occurred on October 7th, I’m sorry to think of a world in which these particular atrocities are something to be regarded almost with nonchalance, same old same old, just another Jew- hating day.

IMO
Thank you for this post. I agree with everything you say.

Ben Gvir says he will bring death penalty for terrorists bill to Knesset this week

Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir says this week he will bring for initial approval in the Knesset a bill mandating the death penalty for terrorists.

In a post on X, Ben Gvir writes that he will bring the bill, already prepared by his Otzma Yehudit party, to the Knesset National Security Committee on Monday.

“I expect all members of Knesset to support this important bill,” he writes.

The death penalty has only been imposed twice in the history of the Jewish state, the last time being the execution of Holocaust architect Adolf Eichmann in 1962.

A Significant number of Armored Vehicles and Troops of the Royal Jordanian Army have been observed over the last 48 Hours moving towards the Border with the West Bank Region of Eastern Israel; this is likely being done in Coordination with the Israel Defense Force in order to Secure the Border and prevent the Transfer of Fighters and Weapons which continuously enter the West Bank by way of the Jordan River.

IDF must cut-off any additional supply of weapons to Hamas. This is good.

Report: Israeli officials say hostage negotiations are stalled

Israeli officials are cited as saying that negotiations to free the hostages held in Gaza are currently stalled.

In comments picked up by all the main TV networks, implying a coordinated leak, an unnamed Israeli official claims that military pressure is pushing Hamas toward making a deal.

The reports also imply that Israel is unwilling to compromise on its demand to free all the children being held in Gaza as well as their mothers.

Reports of a deal for a significant number of hostages have been circulating for more than a week but no captives have been released in close to a month.

THIS is an abomination. THIS fueled terrorists to attack innocent people on 10/7. THIS robs Palestinians of money for better homes, jobs and schools. THIS uses children as human shields, while protecting cowardice leaders. THIS builds tunnels to smuggle weapons to kill infidels. THIS rapes women. THIS burns people (little babies) alive. THIS is not "fighting for freedom" but instead THIS calls for death and murder. THIS has been the demand of HAMAS since they first began governing Gaza... and it continues. THIS brought death and destruction to their own people. THIS calls for more 10/7 attacks over and over and over. THIS is to blame for any suffering of Palestinians. THIS IS EVIL.

Netanyahu says his heart is with families of hostages; there is no current deal

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says in a primetime press conference that his heart is with the families of the some 240 hostages held in Gaza.

“We are marching with you, I am marching with you, all of the people of Israel are marching with you,” he says, saying that he invited families of hostages to meet with the war cabinet this week.

Netanyahu says there are “a lot of incorrect reports” about imminent hostage deals to free some or all of those held, adding that “as of now there is no deal,” and saying that if one emerges the Israeli public will be updated.

Netanyahu says there is heavy international pressure to halt war in Gaza, defends allowing entry of fuel

[...]

In comments seemingly responding to public anger against Israel allowing fuel into the Strip despite having vowed not to, Netanyahu lists all the ways Israel has ignored demands from foreign leaders, including its ground invasion and entry into Shifa Hospital.

Netanyahu says that he greatly “appreciates the support of the US” and says it is sending constant shipments of crucial weaponry and defense equipment, and notes the bipartisan support in the House and Congress.

I am telling the world, we will “keep fighting until Hamas is destroyed,” he says.

He notes that the IDF always follows international law.
