Sorry if this has been posted already. Interesting timing - imo

US Capitol Police:
EXERCISE: Sunday, November 19 – starting at 4:00 a.m., we will be conducting a training exercise with our military partners on Capitol Grounds. Please do not be alarmed if you see emergency vehicles.
Now, if they breakout the military vehicles, I'll be concerned. Usually in drills they use the National Guard.

My husband was in downtown DC during the Libya bombings. He watched as US Military surrounded the WH with the armored vehicles.

I experienced the same during Kuwait. Our waiter gave us the news, we watched tanks w/guns from the restaurant and hotel. We were so scared, we almost rented a car and drove home, forget getting on a plane.

I have to agree with those who've stated that if Hamas were indeed "freedom fighters" they would've attacked Israeli military, and engaged  them in battle. That's generally how it works, when you're fighting for freedom. That's  not what happened here. This wasn't about "freedom" at all. They shrewdly, deliberately, brutally attacked civilians. Yes, Israeli soldiers have mistreated Palestinians through the years. I acknowledge that. So again, the fight should have been with soldiers-- not civilians. No matter how you slice it, this was wrong. jmo

The U.S. Military’s Al-Tanf Operations Base in Southern Syria on the Border of Jordan and Iraq has been Attacked by “Kamikaze” Drones launched by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq within the last hour.
I watched a US military Bombardier on the Syrian border last night about 2am-4am, circles/crisscrossing. It crossed into N Syria twice. I wondered if they were bombing or surveillance.

…Both Putin and Hamas are fighting to wipe a neighboring democracy off the map. And both Putin and Hamas hope to collapse broader regional stability and integration and take advantage of the ensuing disorder. America cannot, and will not, let that happen. For our own national security interests — and for the good of the entire world.
The United States is the essential nation. We rally allies and partners to stand up to aggressors and make progress toward a brighter, more peaceful future. The world looks to us to solve the problems of our time. That is the duty of leadership, and America will lead. For if we walk away from the challenges of today, the risk of conflict could spread, and the costs to address them will only rise. We will not let that happen…

We stand firmly with the Israeli people as they defend themselves against the murderous nihilism of Hamas. On Oct. 7, Hamas slaughtered 1,200 people, including 35 American citizens, in the worst atrocity committed against the Jewish people in a single day since the Holocaust. Infants and toddlers, mothers and fathers, grandparents, people with disabilities, even Holocaust survivors were maimed and murdered. Entire families were massacred in their homes. Young people were gunned down at a music festival. Bodies riddled with bullets and burned beyond recognition. And for over a month, the families of more than 200 hostages taken by Hamas, including babies and Americans, have been living in hell, anxiously waiting to discover whether their loved ones are alive or dead. At the time of this writing, my team and I are working hour by hour, doing everything we can to get the hostages released…

This much is clear: A two-state solution is the only way to ensure the long-term security of both the Israeli and Palestinian people. Though right now it may seem like that future has never been further away, this crisis has made it more imperative than ever…

To start, Gaza must never again be used as a platform for terrorism. There must be no forcible displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, no reoccupation, no siege or blockade, and no reduction in territory. And after this war is over, the voices of Palestinian people and their aspirations must be at the center of post-crisis governance in Gaza…

As we strive for peace, Gaza and the West Bank should be reunited under a single governance structure, ultimately under a revitalized Palestinian Authority, as we all work toward a two-state solution. I have been emphatic with Israel’s leaders that extremist violence against Palestinians in the West Bank must stop and that those committing the violence must be held accountable. The United States is prepared to take our own steps, including issuing visa bans against extremists attacking civilians in the West Bank…

We can’t stand by when hate rears its head. We must, without equivocation, denounce antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of hate and bias. We must renounce violence and vitriol and see each other not as enemies but as fellow Americans.

In a moment of so much violence and suffering — in Ukraine, Israel, Gaza and so many other places — it can be difficult to imagine that something different is possible. But we must never forget the lesson learned time and again throughout our history: Out of great tragedy and upheaval, enormous progress can come. More hope. More freedom. Less rage. Less grievance. Less war. We must not lose our resolve to pursue those goals, because now is when clear vision, big ideas and political courage are needed most. That is the strategy that my administration will continue to lead — in the Middle East, Europe and around the globe. Every step we take toward that future is progress that makes the world safer and the United States of America more secure.

Of course, that is your choice. I choose to follow the evidence and documentation I have found.

IMO, politicians are not always the most reliable resources. YMMV ( your mileage may vary)
Hillary Clinton's mishandling of the terrorist murders in Benghazi are the reason I refused to vote for her. She was a terrible SoS.

“But in its recent outreach to global allies, Israel has released several pieces of inaccurate or disputed information including claiming that an Arabic calendar was a shift schedule for Hamas kidnappers, and using curtains as evidence that hostage videos had been filmed in a hospital.

The widespread reaction calling out these questionable pieces of evidence has weakened Israel’s credibility, according to some experts, and could lead to a boy-who-cried-wolf situation unless concrete evidence for a Hamas headquarters is found beneath Gaza’s Al-Shifa hospital, one of Israel’s key contentions at this stage of the war.”

UN says Gaza hasn't received any fuel since Israel allowed two daily deliveries

Yesterday Israel’s wear cabinet said it would allow two fuel trucks a day into the Gaza Strip – but Gaza’s UN agency for Palestinian refugees says that as yet, none have arrived.

UNRWA spokesperson Juliette Touma spoke to the BBC earlier and said “We urgently need fuel for the humanitarian operations across the Gaza Strip.”

“None of the trucks that have been coming in since 21 October had fuel on them”, Touma said, “We need At least 120,000 litres of fuel every single day if UNRWA and other humanitarian aid organizations are to continue delivering assistance to people in need across the Gaza strip.”

Touma says that they need to distribute aid to 80,000 people in shelters that the agency manages, and added: “UNRWA should not be pushed in the corner begging for fuel.”

What exactly is the role of the UN during this war? With the numerous funds received by participating countries, the UN should do more to help the Palestinians. It seems their current role is to report what Israel and the US is not doing. UN needs to step up.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Friday suggested that Germany supported Israel in the Gaza war out of guilt over the Holocaust and drew a contrast with Turkey, which he said was able to speak without bias.

That's a bit of a cheap shot, imo.

North Olmsted man accused of faking hate crime attack near North Ridgeville

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio — A North Olmsted man is facing multiple misdemeanor charges after police say he faked an alleged hate crime attack near North Ridgeville last month.

According to investigators, 20-year-old Hesham A. Ayyad was originally taken to the hospital on Oct. 22 after telling officers he had been hit by a car in an incident that was "racially motivated." He claimed the collision took place on Cook Road in Olmsted Township, and North Ridgeville detectives subsequently began looking into the case.

An article posted the next day by the Council on American-Islamic Relations' Cleveland branch shed more light on Ayyad's version of events. Per the organization, Ayyad claimed he was waking home from lunch when a vehicle approached and the driver rolled his window down. Ayyad reported hearing the driver say things like "Kill all Palestinians" and "Long live Israel" before swerving his car and hitting Ayyad, driving away while screaming, "DIE!"

However, as North Ridgeville police continued to investigate and view surveillance video from the day of the alleged crime, they eventually determined Ayyad had made the whole thing up. A release from the department insists Ayyad not only wasn't struck by a vehicle nor subjected to racial slurs, but that he was actually injured during an earlier fight with his brother, 19-year-old Khalil A. Ayyad. Footage from the scene confirms the altercation occurred, authorities say.

Both Hesham and Khalil Ayyad were arrested Tuesday and charged with domestic violence and assault. In addition, Hersham Ayyad is accused of making false alarms, falsification, and obstructing official business.

Gantz: Returning the hostages is a priority; we have decades if needed to destroy Hamas

Snipped by me

Netanyahu says “There was no deal on the table” and he can’t elaborate further.

Gantz also praises contributions to the war effort from the ultra-Orthodox and Arab sectors.

On the hostages, Gantz says Israel has “decades if needed to destroy this thing” — an apparent reference to Hamas. “We don’t have decades to bring the people home… So, yes, from my point of view, it is a priority to get the hostages back. But that priority doesn’t override our obligation” to destroy Hamas, “however long it takes.”
