Not sure that I consider arson and setting off explosives to be 'minor' offences.

How all these terrorists' preparations were overlooked by Security Forces is a mystery to me o_O

They were all happening literally behind a fence

I can understand not having intelligence on the planning, but the lack of border security is mind boggling.
They were always at the fence, rioting and throwing rocks.

And underground.

BN wasn't popular on 7th October and is certainly less so now. The buck stops with him. His career in politics is done.

The inquirey will be interesting to see where the human failure happened and to ensure that it never hapens again.

Until they weren't.

As reported by women IDF troops.

And, what is that saying? "Here's your sign." Someone couldn't read. That's a HUGE failure.

Regardless, doesn't make the 7 October 2023 Massacre Israel's fault; that's still 100% on Hamas terrorists.

"Family of American orphan girl, 3,

who is expected to be among 50 hostages released by Hamas

hope she's home for her 4th birthday on Friday - after Israel approved

'five-day' ceasefire deal that will see 150 Palestinian prisoners freed."

Summary of the day so far

It’s 1am in Gaza City and Tel Aviv. Here’s a recap of the latest developments:
(Snipped by me)
The Palestinian poet and author Mosab Abu Toha has been released after he was detained by Israeli forces along with scores of other Palestinian men trying to leave northern Gaza, according to his friends and Israeli officials.
Good news about Mosab Abu Toha. Just spied that in amongst all the other developments in the update.

Lisa O'Carroll

The EU’s foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell has been told by the Palestinian Authority that 40% of housing has been demolished in Gaza.

After his four day trip to Israel, Palestine, Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan, he said he wanted to share his sense of “absolute urgency” in relation to the “dramatic situation in Gaza” and the “tenuous hope” about moving towards peace talks and enduring political solutions for the Middle East.

The figures from the Palestinian Authority “confirmed the worst fears” he said in relation to Gaza with Israelis indicating an intensification of military operations in the south of the Strip.

In a lengthy blog post, he also revealed that the Israel military had told him they plan to create a “small safe area along the sea in the southern part of Gaza” for the civilian population “in order to carry out the ground operations in the south” of the Gaza strip where more than 2m live.

“This did not reassure me about the future course of events if we fail to achieve a rapid and durable de-escalation of the military operations,” he said.

He said his meetings with hostage families had made it “fully understandable the shock that Israeli society suffered” after Hamas’s attack and underlined the “absolute urgency of moving forward”.

He said he raised the hostages with everyone he met.

Some details on some of the prisoners pending release are starting to come out:

Among the female prisoners who are expected to be released - Isra Jaavis who tried to carry out an attack using a gas balloon in 2015, the bomb exploded in her car and she has been imprisoned in Israel ever since. She tried to be released by appealing to the court and her appeals were rejected for all the details

The terrorist who tried to murder her teachers is "destined for release" - and will she be her neighbor again? "I'm shocked"http://tinyurl.com/2mm6k2pw

Sentiments in Gaza regarding the ceasefire: Most seem not to care about the identities of the 300 prisoners being released by Israel and they view it mainly as efforts by Hamas to increase its popularity in the West Bank at the expense of the Ramallah Authority.

There is a long article here by The Guardian about the children who are arrested, and photos of the children throwing stones at Israeli tanks and being arrested.

There are some pretty horrible details about what can happen to some of them after that.

‘A hidden universe of suffering’: the Palestinian children sent to jail

I usually like to look at multiple sources, because the truth usually lays somewhere in the middle. imo
If you google "palestinian children jailed for throwing stones" a whole lot of articles come up from a wide range of publications.
.
Israeli children leave home at eighteen to be trained in warfare more sophisticated than throwing stones.

According to the Israeli Defense Service Law, which regulates duties and exceptions, all Israeli citizens who meet the conscription criteria are required to serve once they reach 18 years of age unless they qualify for any of the above-mentioned exemptions.

In 1949, after the founding of the State of Israel, the Defense Service Law gave the IDF the authority to enlist any citizen. Draftees would then be required to show up for the draft in accordance with the military's decision to enlist them.

Seems so unfair. These types of people being traded for innocent little children, etc. who did nothing wrong. :(

Of course it goes without saying it will be incredible to get these October 7 hostages home. Still, painful to watch that this is what has to happen for it to happen. :(

Colour me confused. What does that have to do with teaching hatred to children? Absolutely zero that I can discern.

Ugh.

How many of these people are future Sinwars?

:(

This has got to be painful for Israeli government/law enforcement.

Not to mention, this brings to mind how the victims of prisoners being released must feel.

Totally different situation, but it reminds me of the time when Hurricane Katrina wiped out the building were DNA evidence, etc. was being stored, and all the violent criminals/rapists got away scott free as a result.

The volunteer of the logistics center of LHB 433 Royat Naor, who helps locate forgotten equipment, in a conversation with Barry: "It is impossible to find DNA, so we try to find remains to bring rest to the families. On Friday we discovered the remains of 5 bodies by the side of the road. The metal detectors found a phone, a watch and a necklace, and then we found bones."#סדריום
