(this is Abigail who is 3 years old. Held hostage in Gaza. #Bringthemhome)

Liz Hirsh Naftali, the great-aunt of 3-year-old Abigail Mor Idan, revealed that the little girl’s parents were killed in their home at the Kfar Aza kibbutz. Abigail was in her father’s arms when a Hamas gunman shot him. He fell on top of her. Abigail then “crawled out from under her father’s body … full of his blood,” Hirsh Naftali said.

Hostage release process to include 5 stages — report

Channel 12 reports that the Prime Minister’s Office has developed a set process through which the hostages will be released and transferred to Israel, amid a developing hostage deal currently being discussed in the cabinet.

First, Hamas is set to hand over the hostages to the Red Cross, after which they will be transferred to IDF representatives. The hostages will then undergo an initial medical check by authorities, and then be taken to one of five isolated medical centers across Israel to meet with their families.

In the fourth stage, medical and defense authorities will determine together whether at least some of the hostages can be debriefed.

In the final stage of the mechanism, the hostages will indeed undergo a debriefing with security officials.

Confused About The Israel-Hamas Hostage/Ceasfire Deal? So am I.
So I'm going to break it down below by what Israel and Hamas have confirmed and what media reports are saying (I read tens of articles so you don't have to). Hopeful we'll all be the wiser

Let's go!

--Israel says--
• It will get at least 50 hostages from Hamas over a 4 day period.
• They will be women and children.
• It has agreed to a 4 day 'pause in fighting' during that time.
• Every additional 10 hostages released after that point will result in an additional day of no fighting.
• After the pause in fighting, Israel will return to its stated goal of freeing the remaining hostages and destroying Hamas. --Israeli official told reporters (earlier today before official statement was released)--
• Over the next 24 hours, the names of Palestinian prisoners set to be released will be made public so that Israeli citizens can appeal against their release. Israel will not release Palestinian prisoners who have been convicted of killing Israelis.

--Hamas says--
• It has agreed to a 4 day ceasefire
• No IDF activity allowed during that time in all of Gaza and no vehicles allowed to enter into Gaza.
• The arrival of hundreds of trucks of humanitarian aid, including medical and fuel to all areas of Gaza including the north.
• It will release 50 women and children hostages under 19 years old.
• Israel will release 150 women and children under the age of 19 that are being held in Israeli prisons.
• All air taffic over southern Gaza will halt (in regards to the drones).
• Air traffic over southern Gaza will halt from 10 am until 4 pm (6 hours).
• Israel has agreed not to attack or arrest anyone anywhere in Gaza during the ceasefire. (I find this interesting that Hamas only says this is for Gaza but not for Qatar)
• Israel has agreed to the free movement of people from northern Gaza to southern Gaza.

--Media says--
• The deal was approved by a significant majority of the Israeli cabinet (CNN)
• Hebrew media says Israel is expected to release about 150 Palestinian prisoners, mostly women and children over the four-day pause. (Axios)
• Three Americans could be part of the agreement securing the release of 50 women and children held hostage in Gaza. (CNN)
• Israel will allow around 300 aid trucks per day to enter Gaza from Egypt. More fuel will also be allowed in during the pause in fighting. (Axios)
• There are various locations where the hostages will be brought out of Gaza. (CNN)
• After their safe passage, the released hostages will receive medical attention in Israel. (CNN quoting NSC's Kirby)
• Roughly 12 hostages will be released daily by Hamas (AP)

--So when does it start???--
• While neither statement said when the truce would begin, Israeli media reported that the hostages could begin to be released as soon as Thursday. (AP)
• The deal cannot be enacted until Thursday at the earliest, to allow time for judicial approval. (NYT)

Melissa Barrera is let go from Scream VII over posts about Israel Melissa Barrera is let go from Scream VII over posts about Israel
....
Barrera, who played the role of Sam Carpenter in this year's Scream VI and last year's Scream, had labeled Israel as a 'colonized' land and posted content containing an antisemitic trope in regards to Jewish people controlling the media.

Barrera, who has also appeared in films such as In the Heights, Carmen and the upcoming Bed Rest, posted a statement that read, 'Western media only shows the [Israeli] side. Why do they do that, I will let you deduce for yourself.'

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Barrera said in another Instagram Stories post that 'Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp.'

Red Cross ‘cannot force its way in’ to see hostages, but critics say it could do more

ICRC says it can’t visit Gaza hostages unless Hamas allows it to do so, but government and families say it could exert more diplomatic pressure, including with Egypt and Qatar

Hostages’ families are asking not only why the Red Cross is not reaching their loved ones in Gaza, but also why it is not contacting them to offer support and updates as they wait in agony for their loved ones to come home.

Part of the answer lies in how the ICRC works and the nature of the war between Israel and Hamas.

In October, the ICRC facilitated the logistics of the release of the four freed hostages, Judith and Natalie Ra’anan, Yocheved Lifshitz, and Nurit Cooper. However, it has had no contact with any of the other Israeli and foreign national hostages — 40 of them babies and children.

“The Red Cross is a humanitarian organization with a mandate to work in areas of war and conflict,” said Yehonatan Saban, spokesperson for the medical and resilience team of the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.

“The problem is that it can’t work without the agreement of both sides of a conflict, and maintaining its neutrality is essential to its work,” Saban said.

According to Saban, the situation is simpler when both two sides in a conflict are both states, unlike in the current war in which Israel is fighting Hamas, a terror organization.

Levine and his team compiled medical files on each hostage, with information on their medical conditions and illness, allergies, and the medications, vitamins, and special nutrition they must take. A document containing all this information was given to the Red Cross with a demand that it be used to safeguard the health of all the hostages. Levine’s team also demanded that injured hostages be properly cared for.

Doesn't Hamas state that the location of all the hostages is unknown?

“as hawkish Netanyahu renews vow to destroy terror group regardless."
I am highlighting this quote from the link posted by @Dotta.

I know you didn’t mean it in this way, but I see this as as an admirable and necessary goal.

Hamas could have chosen to NOT ambush and massacre innocent people.

Hamas could have tried something new in their world and opted for a philosophy of live and let live.
Instead they chose to die and let die.

So, IMO, let them die.

If living hostages are released on Thursday, that will be the happiest Thanksgiving possible. Yet I have grave concerns about the prisoners who will re-emerge into Palestinian society. I have concerns regarding what has been negotiated as a several day “pause,” but which I view as a several day chance for Hamas to regroup. They never pause, yet they expect Israel to do nothing for several days.

But of course, it is necessary in order to get back at least some of the hostages.
As Hamas planned, these innocent kidnapped victims are bargaining chips.

Why 50 out of 240? Why dribble them out over several days instead of all at once?

Obviously Israel’s cabinet agreed because each hostage is the whole world to somebody, Jews value life, and it’s imperative that they come home.

But stashing away the rest of the hostages will prolong this war.

Hamas would be better off and so would the civilians if Hamas returned EVERYONE IMMEDIATELY.

But no, they have to dangle a few at a time because the hostages are their leverage. And IMO many have already died.

White House spent weeks working hostage deal, administration official says

[...]

U.S. officials debated with Israeli counterparts about whether to delay the invasion, but Israeli officials determined that terms weren’t firm enough because Hamas had not provided proof of life, the official said. Negotiations went on for the next three weeks, with messages being passed from Gaza to Doha, Qatar, or Cairo and back.

Israeli and U.S. officials agreed that all women and children would have to be released in the first phase, the official said, but Hamas agreed only to 50 hostages and wouldn’t give identifying information. It wasn’t until Nov. 12 that Hamas provided a list of names.

Talks broke off once again days later, with Hamas taking issue with the IDF’s invasion of Al-Shifa hospital, the official said. Biden spoke to the emir of Qatar last week and insisted the deal had to be finalized.

A representative for the White House flew to Doha on Saturday to review the details of the potential deal before going to Cairo to speak with an Egyptian official who brought news that Hamas had agreed to nearly all the terms, according to the White House source.

Minor changes were made, with Israeli approval, and the message was sent Sunday that it was the final offer, said the source, who said Hamas agreed two days later.

The Release of 50 Women and Children of the Occupation Detainees under the age of 19, in exchange for the Release of 150 Women and Children of our People from the Prisons of the Occupation under the age of 19

Do we know why Israel has 150 women and children detained? Just curious about what sort of crimes they have committed.

ETA: Never mind. I think I have found the answer.

"The most common charge is throwing stones, which is punishable by a maximum punishment of 20 years."

Why are so many Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails?

As the IDF pushes across borders, WWII is assured, just as Putin is doing in and around Ukraine. Sickening. MOO

SBM

I assume you mean WWIII, as WWII has been over since 1945.

If Hamas had not “pushed across” Israel’s border, we wouldn’t be having to have this conversation. IMO Israel is pushing back, as they must after Hamas breached their sovereign border in order to commit atrocities against innocents. Innocents who were unaware and couldn’t protect themselves or their families.

It is in fact similar in some ways to Putin. Are you upset that the Ukrainians are fighting back, too?

imo

IMO Violent crimes, inciting violence, being involved with terrorist organizations or attempting terror acts. They will not be releasing anyone who is convicted of murder.

Throwing stones. I found my answer about the children, and edited my post. Thanks anyway.

The group, Addameer, says that about 200 boys, most of them teenagers, were in Israeli detention as of this week, along with about 75 women and five teenage girls. Before Oct. 7, about 150 boys and 30 women and girls were in Israeli prisons, it said, and since then, many other detentions have occurred, as well as many releases.

Addameer said that it compiled the figures using data from the Israel Prison Service, which administers the country’s jails, and information from the families of detained people.

Many of the most recent arrests came during raids across the Israeli-occupied West Bank, where protests and violence have surged, including attacks on Palestinians by Israeli settlers. Israel has said that the arrests are part of a counterterror operation against Hamas in the West Bank.

There are also about 700 people missing from Gaza who are believed to be in Israeli prisons, but information on their whereabouts is murky, said Tala Nasir, a spokeswoman for Addameer. It was not clear how many of those people, if any, were women or minors.

The Israeli military has said that it has apprehended 300 people in Gaza during the ground invasion that it claimed were connected to armed Palestinian groups, and that they “were brought into Israeli territory for further interrogation…

The women in Israeli detention include Ahed Tamimi, 22, a high-profile figure in the West Bank who was sentenced to prison in 2018 for slapping an Israeli soldier. Israeli officials accused her of her posting hate speech online; her family said the post was not hers.

Six Palestinian detainees who were held without charges have died in Israeli prisons in recent weeks, according to Wafa, the Palestinian Authority’s news agency. One of them, Omar Daraghmeh, was a senior member of Hamas, the militant group said when his death was announced.

Biden welcomes Israel-Hamas deal, vows to continue efforts until all hostages released

[...]

“Jill and I have been keeping all those held hostage and their loved ones close to our hearts these many weeks, and I am extraordinarily gratified that some of these brave souls, who have endured weeks of captivity and an unspeakable ordeal, will be reunited with their families once this deal is fully implemented,” Biden says in a statement, thanking the leaders of Qatar, Egypt and Israel for their efforts.

[...]

“It is important that all aspects of this deal be fully implemented,” he adds, noting that he plans to keep in contact with each of the aforementioned leaders to ensure that the deal is executed in its entirety

“As president, I have no higher priority than ensuring the safety of Americans held hostage around the world. That’s why—from the earliest moments of Hamas’s brutal assault—my national security team and I have worked closely with regional partners to do everything possible to secure the release of our fellow citizens,” Biden says, noting how two Americans were already released on October 20 and that several more are expected to be freed in the coming days as a result of this deal.

And molotov cocktails. Attempted suicide missions. Stabbings. But yeah. Al Jazeera will def say throwing stones.

There is a long article here by The Guardian about the children who are arrested, and photos of the children throwing stones at Israeli tanks and being arrested.

There are some pretty horrible details about what can happen to some of them after that.

‘A hidden universe of suffering’: the Palestinian children sent to jail

I usually like to look at multiple sources, because the truth usually lays somewhere in the middle. imo
If you google "palestinian children jailed for throwing stones" a whole lot of articles come up from a wide range of publications.

U.S. Officials are hoping that the Ceasefire in Gaza between Hamas and Israel will cause other Fronts of War to “Temporarily Settle” like the Attacks from the Houthis in Yemen and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Elon Musk, who is under fire for supporting an antisemitic post, said that X Corp. will donate any revenue the social media platform generates from ads and subscriptions linked to the war in Gaza to hospitals in Israel as well as to the Red Cross in Gaza.
