If they truly believed what they espouse, about how they are fighting for their own people's welfare, they'd be a social welfare organization when necessary. IMO

They are blaming Israel for their own people's living situation, but if Hamas can come up with enough money to plan and execute this expensive invasion of Israel, they could have used those same resources to improve their people's lives instead. And avoided the backlash attacks.
I believe that Hamas only believes in their quest to destroy all Jews.

An Israeli jewelry designer described as 'the softest soul' has been abducted, her family says

October 12, 2023 at 11:50 AM

Delicate pearls peek out from silver and stainless steel chains — bits of brightness and optimism among Moran Stela Yanai's jewelry designs that reflected cultures around the world.

Creating art to wear has been Yanai's joy, but not the only one, her brother-in-law Dan Mor said Thursday in a telephone interview. Yanai, a 40-year-old Israeli who disappeared after a desert rave on Saturday, also fiercely protected people and animals.

The executions, the spokesman said, would be broadcast in "audio and video," though he did not specify where or when they would be shown. Hamas is believed to have abducted more than 100 people, mostly civilians, during its brutal assault on southern Israel. Some have already been killed, according to video reviewed by The Washington Post.

The threat harks back to videos nearly a decade ago from the Islamic State, which spread fear and won attention by posting videos showing the beheadings of journalists, aid workers and other civilian captives. But those videos were prerecorded and edited. Hamas' pledge to record and air executions that have yet to take place is new and seems calibrated to incite fear over the barbarism to come.
Yes, because doing this will advance their cause ....

This is so horrifying for all of the innocent people on both sides who do not agree with what is happening.
What if someone knew about this and was able to get word to Israel before the massacre ?
And if it was discovered, what would the fate of the person and their family be ?
I have little doubt that Hamas would take brutal revenge on anyone trying to revolt against them.

Maybe if everyone who is tired and afraid of living under that regime could rise up en masse ?
I don't think that every Palestinian is in agreement with the slaughter of people who were doing nothing but living their lives.
Omo.

Though the terrorists committed plenty of horrific acts, the last word on the beheaded babies is muddy:

- Official IDF military says they cannot confirm it.
- White House now says Biden never saw photos of be headed babies (even though he said he did).

I dont support HAMAS, but I also do not take sides on the over all conflict (going back to 1948).
I feel like either way does it really matter?

This isn't directed AT you.. but my thoughts in general about this discussion.

We've seen photos of bloody cribs, we have video of the aftermath, we have first hand accounts of what occurrred... something horrific happened there. If any of them beheaded a baby that is barbaric, but so is walking up to a crib where a helpless baby is and shooting. There is nobody denying they barged into homes and began executing people, including children. I don't personally care if it was by beheading or shooting.. they are the same to me when we are talking about babies and children who would not and could not pick up a weapon and be any threat to those terrorists. Does only shooting them point blank make it easier to digest that they murdered babies? I think the back and forth over beheading in the media is ridiculous. Babies were slaughtered and women were taken and raped and executed. The method the terrorists chose to do that doesn't make them more or less evil in my mind. Neither of the methods makes it accidental or collateral damage.. it was a choice and it is barbaric.

Re the tunnels

"Hamas underground stronghold. Penetrating bombs versus deep tunnels

One of the IDF's tasks is
to destroy the underground stronghold of Hamas,
which is the tunnels that have been drilled over the years.

In order not to risk the lives of soldiers, they do it with the help of aviation.

These are GBU-28 bombs developed in the USA in 1991 for Operation Desert Storm.

The Pentagon feared - rightly - that the BLU-109/B bombs previously used to destroy bunkers would prove insufficient to destroy Saddam Hussein's best-protected bunkers.
Therefore, very quickly, in just a few weeks, new bombs were developed that were capable of destroying particularly heavily fortified targets.

The GBU-28 C/B bomb was created on the basis of the unguided BLU-122 bomb.
It is laser guided, weighs just over 2.3 tons, and its body is long and narrow, with a length of almost six meters and a diameter of only 38 cm.

The shape and reinforced body make the bomb - which has high kinetic energy due to its considerable mass - penetrate deep into the ground.
Its fuse was designed to initiate the explosion not immediately after impact, but with a delay.
This gives GBU-28 time to sink in, so
detonation occurs deep below the surface.

In practice, this allows you to destroy a target hidden under a layer of 50 meters of earth or protected by up to five meters of reinforced concrete.

The next generation of 'bunker busters' has already been developed in the United States - the GBU-72 bomb of similar weight.
Israel has requested their supplies already in 2021 - before the end of tests of new weapons -
but no agreement has been reached so far."

"It will take some period of time to schedule everyone seeking to depart," the embassy said. "Transportation will be by air to Athens or Frankfurt, or sea from Haifa to Cyprus. You will not be able to choose your destination – we will assign you to the next available flight or ship."

US and Qatar agree to deny Iran access to $6bn fund

The US and Qatar have agreed to deny Iran’s access to any of the $6bn (£4.9bn) funds that were part of a prisoner swap deal between the Biden administration and Tehran last month, US deputy treasury secretary Wally Adeyemo told House Democrats, according to multiple reports.

Adeyemo told lawmakers that those funds would not be touched anytime soon, CNN reported, citing a congressional source.

Joe Biden had been under pressure to refreeze $6bn of Iranian oil revenuesreleased last month amid accusations that Iran played a key role in last weekend’s deadly attack on Israel by Hamas.

The US president faced bipartisan calls to freeze the funds, even as US intelligence sources have sought to dampen speculation of close Iranian involvement.

Two Jewish schools in London will close for the safety of children, Sky News is reporting, after a spike in reported incidents of antisemitism in Britain after the outbreak of war in Israel.

Torah Vodaas primary school and Ateres Beis Yaakov primary school, both in north London, informed parents on Thursday that they would not reopen until Monday, it said.

The report cites Rabbi Feldman, of Torah Vodaas in Edgware, as saying that while there was “no specific threat to our school”, it was “not a decision that has been taken lightly”.

Larry Elliott

Finance ministers from the G7 group of leading industrial nations who have been meeting in Morocco delayed a press conference amid a dispute over language around the Israel-Hamas war.

A G7 source said Japan – the current G7 chair – was at odds with the groups other members, the US, the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Canada.

Officials at the event in Marrakech were trying to come up with a form of words acceptable to all.

The Japanese finance minister, Sun’ichi Suzuki, said that because the Israel-Hamas conflict was not on original agenda there were different views about what to say and it took longer than expected to craft a response.

When the statement was eventually released it was strongly supportive of Israel, saying:

We unequivocally condemn the recent terror attacks by Hamas on the state of Israel and express our solidarity with the Israeli people.

I feel like either way does it really matter?
It does not matter as to the crimes that occurred. It does matter in regards to a president's over all reliability.
