Egypt has closed the borders to Gazans (nobody besides the US wants refugees anymore).

Furthermore, armed Palestinian groups have pulled enough stunts in neighboring countries over the generations to cause local welcome mats to get rolled up- even before these countries got tired of refugees.

Sure, Gazan civilians showing up at the Egyptian crossing with enough cash or with an Egyptian wife, or both, will find the welcome mat unrolled and be allowed in.

But... the vast majority of Gazans in the worlds biggest human corral have no where to flee to.

I meant to the south within Gaza, where it was suggested for their own safety, not necessarily other countries.
Hamas most likely wants them for human shields to pretend they aren't the aggressors, but instead -- the victims.
I wish the Palestinians could rise up and revolt against Hamas.

BBm: I was also wondering about cruise ships maybe being a way to move more people out of the way. On Saturday, there were two cruise ships at the port when the attack came. They waited for their passengers to return before leaving. One ship had to leave without all of their passengers. I would hate to be on such a big target but it could be a way to move some of the Palestinians to leave. Maybe Egypt would let them dock? IDK but just a thought.

Some of those countries you mention are certainly not impoverished and could invite the people of Gaza to live in their nation.
Why aren't they doing this ?

RAMLE — Bodies are hauled in via refrigerated trucks, shrouded in thin white sheets or sealed in plastic bags, and unloaded in a quiet corner of the Military Rabbinate’s main base.

Overwhelming the permanent mortuary facilities, they are racked and loaded into a series of refrigerated containers, so they can be stored for processing and burial.

These are the unidentified bodies among the 1,300 Israelis, the vast majority of whom civilians, who were killed by Hamas during a devastating Saturday terror attack.

“We take the bodies of the murdered from the war,” explained A., a military officer responsible for overseeing the identification and processing operation. “Not everyone comes with identification, so we identify them with DNA, fingerprints, teeth records,” he said.

When asked if the facility processes the deceased through in-person family identifications, A. said a resolute “no.”

“It’s impossible to identify them after a while,” he added, declining to elaborate.

“Some bodies are so mutilated,” said Josh Wander, a spokesperson for burial organization Zaka, who was on site alongside several Zaka volunteers helping the military to process the corpses.

Devastatingly numerous among the Hamas victims, children, Wander said, pose a specific identification challenge.

Palestinians fear being uprooted once more​

For Palestinians in Gaza, Israel’s warning for them to leave has profound historical and psychological implications.

Many are descended from the 200,000 Palestinians who arrived in the Gaza Strip in 1948, during what they all know to this day as the "naqba", or catastrophe.

They fled or were driven from their homes by the forces of the newly created state of Israel. Many came from areas surrounding the Gaza Strip where Israelis live today.

The thought of being driven from their homes once more is profoundly traumatic.

"Hold on to your homes," is the message being broadcast from mosques this morning. "Hold on to your land."

Israel withdrew a few thousand Jewish settlers from the Gaza Strip in 2005. The settlements have long gone and no Israeli government has ever proposed setting them up again.

But in the panic surrounding last night's Israeli warning, Palestinians inevitably fear another naqba might be looming.

There might not be anything to return to. Israel has to do whatever it can to make sure that Hamas and other terrorists are no longer living in their backyard. It is an existential threat to the country of Israel and they are rightly taking action to protect their citizens and their sovereighty as a nation.

More time? Hamas waged war last weekend, a week ago.

Gaza City had ample time prior to waging war to prepare, plan and stockpile everything they needed for some time to come. They knew that there would be a strong retaliation to butchering civilians. They have been given an additional 24 hour warning to evacuate and travel roughly 10 km. Now is not the time for people of Gaza City to pretend that they are caught off guard.

I believe the Amish don't embalm but bury within a set number of days ? I don't know about the Jewish traditions in this case ; but I thought burial is fairly soon ?

For that many people, 130,000 large cruise ships would be needed. Even if we’re only talking of moving 10%, the logistics would be undoable. However, pivoting slightly, hospital ships for the wounded and immediate carers would be of a scale that can work.

Yes. Jewish law requires burial within 24 hours in shrouds (in Israel. No casket).
There is a process of washing and purification prior to burial. The victims that were burned/decapitated/maimed will not go through this process As to preserve the remains.

I also agree that there are many different views about settlement construction. But.... in the end, only one view truly matters- that of the group with the most weapons.

That group- especially under Netanyahu, is a huge fan of settlement construction.

People take sides. The whole world does. This is what is the scariest part of the situation, I see the world split again, and taking sides; different camps form.

Very true regarding hindsight. I wish security and intel had been beefed up, as Netanyahu addressed the UN just a couple or three weeks ago (Sept 22) warning of fanatics in Iran.

JMO - Iran could have been handled very differently and with better outcome for the US. I always had questions about Iran. Iranians are not Arabs. They have representatives of several different religions in their Parliament. They are a different branch of Islam and at odds with the Sunni. They have inner political strife with the Kurds. Their birth rate is on a huge decline. They have very curious attitude to some of the issues splitting our society. I saw the photos of Iran before ayatollahs and it was the country with the future. Then, of course, it was reversed, but with their stupid shah and SAVAK, what does one expect? Currently, Iranianian fertility rate is very low. One could have changed some things there, but the foreign policy in that region was amazingly inconsistent. At least there was some plan in 2012. Later the time was missed and now a very different entity has made economic investments in Iran, with all the political consequences of it. Too sad.

This group is crazy. Their candidate for Pres of the US was Leonard Peltier, who is serving a life sentence for killing two FBI agents at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in 1975. They are crazy people. They are loud. I had the misfortune of marching behind them in at an annual MLK March. They are fringe. They probably will end up protesting everything under the sun. They are crazy.
