I know it is petty but I always worry about the pets left behind. Can't help myself.

It is absolutely not petty. ❤️

God bless all these poor fur babies too.

Real quick- a HUGE thanks to all of you who are posting updates and videos here. I appreciate y’all doing all the legwork so that I and others are able to scroll and read in one place!

Yes!! You read my mind!

Same…special thanks to @margarita25 and the others here who are posting the stories and videos of the Israeli victims.

I’ve reached the point that I can only view them in small doses because I’m so overwhelmed with grief, and I truly appreciate that I can come back here and view them in portions that I can bear.

In the Ukraine war threads there have been countless stories of Ukrainian soldiers rescuing animals. They may be out there killing the enemy but they're not about to leave a little kitten to starve.

There are people who will stay because of their pets. Pets are family. I don't understand why some pets can't come. Pets small enough for in cabin carry on at least cats and small dogs. That is a concern for so many and I understand it's war.. but what if these people don't return to Israel? What are they supposed to do with their pets?

For those who can't view twitter/X:

This is Captain Yuval, an infantry commander in the Nahal Brigade. On Saturday morning, as soon as she heard about the horrors taking place, she ran out of her home with her gun in her pajamas.

She reports there were dead bodies all over the road, and that at some point, a group of terrorists on motorcycles drive towards her, and she empties a whole magazine on them killing two. She's calling her boss Colonel Steinberg, but he's been killed. Same with other commanders she tries reaching - all gone.

She located Captain Ron, and together they understand that only they are left to conduct this battle. They find a friend's house nearby, open up a war room, and begin directing the forces on the ground. Before most of us even woke up and understood what is happening, these two young captains were directing commandos and fighter pilots, and eliminated 22 terrorists, preventing them from taking control of two outposts. In their pajamas.

They are still out there fighting. We are in good hands! (source: Yuval is a cousin of @sivanhakolkalul)

I think Iran is well aware of the U.S. war ships headed to the area.

Live updates: Israel-Hamas war rages as Palestinian death toll in Gaza rises (cnn.com)

Biden calls for an end to hate "in all forms"

US President Joe Biden used his remarks at an LGBTQ rights group dinner in Washington, DC, to denounce antisemitism and Islamophobia amid Israel's war with Hamas.

“A week ago, we saw hate manifested another way, with the worst massacre of Jewish people since the Holocaust,” Biden said, speaking to the Human Rights Campaign. “More than 1,300 innocent lives lost in Israel, including at least 27 Americans. Children, and grandparents alike kidnapped, held hostage by Hamas.”

The president also addressed the situation in Gaza, which he described as a "humanitarian crisis."

“Innocent Palestinian families — and the vast majority have nothing to do with Hamas — being used as human shields," Biden said.

Biden called the attacks a reminder that “hate just hides under the rocks until there's a little oxygen blown under," adding that history has taught us repeatedly that "antisemitism, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia — they're all connected."

"Hate toward one group left unanswered opens the door for more hate, toward more groups, more often, readily," Biden said, adding that "the antidote to hate is love" and "silence is complicity."

Hamas says 3 members who infiltrated Israel from Lebanon were killed in IAF strike

The Hamas terror group says three of its combatants in Lebanon were killed Saturday by the IDF after they blew up a section of the border fence with Israel and attempted to infiltrate, according to Reuters.

The Israeli military said earlier that Air Force jets struck a group of people who were suspected of planning to cross the border and shoot anti-tank missiles toward Israeli targets.

“Well first of all Hamas is not a terrorist group…every single thing that they do is justified”
- Murdering babies
- Burning children alive - Beheading civilians
- Kidnapping children
- Raping and murdering at a concert
- Shooting dogs is “justified”

I think Iran is going to end up sending supplementary defense into Gaza (if they haven’t already) to help counter Israel’s attacks.

Iran’s foreign minister warns Israel from Beirut to stop Gaza attacks or risk ‘huge earthquake’

“Iran’s foreign minister on Saturday called on Israel to stop its attacks on Gaza, warning that the war might expand to other parts of the Middle East if Hezbollah joins the battle, and that would make Israel suffer “a huge earthquake.”

Hossein Amirabdollahian told reporters in Beirut that Lebanon’s Hezbollah group has taken all the scenarios of a war into consideration and Israel should stop its attacks on Gaza as soon as possible.”

We will always remember their sacrifice and continue to support the grieving families during this time. May their memories be a blessing.

It wouldn't be easy for Iran to seriously impact Israel since they don't share a border. Flying would require them to go undetected and they'd have to go through Iraq or Syria or Saudi Arabia. By sea they are going to run into the US Navy.. I think the only real way to get things done is using Hezbollah or other terrorist like groups or provide weapons, but with Israel hitting the airpots they would use to get weapons in.. it just seems like it wouldn't be easy (or wise) for them. It might be more of a threat trying to sound like they'd do something, but would they? I don't know.

Unfortunately, religious wars have been happening since the beginning of time. Hamas is a horrible, terrorist organization which is why Israel has declared war on them.

How much support does Hamas have among Palestinians?

Following the 2021 Israeli-Gaza conflict, an opinion poll conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in the West Bank and Gaza Strip showed a dramatic surge in support for Hamas.

In the poll, 53% of the 1,200 Palestinians surveyed said they believed Hamas is "most deserving of representing and leading the Palestinian people." By contrast, just 14% said the same of Fatah.
This was 2021, not more recently. This below is why I believe Palestinians did NOT want this war

According to the latest Washington Institute polling, conducted in July 2023, Hamas’s decision to break the ceasefire was not a popular move. While the majority of Gazans (65%) did think it likely that there would be “a large military conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza” this year, a similar percentage (62%) supported Hamas maintaining a ceasefire with Israel. Moreover, half (50%) agreed with the following proposal: “Hamas should stop calling for Israel’s destruction, and instead accept a permanent two-state solution based on the 1967 borders.” Moreover, across the region, Hamas has lost popularity over time among many Arab publics. This decline in popularity may have been one of the motivating factors behind the group’s decision to attack.

“Warnings to Iran

The French presidency warned Saturday that Iran must refrain from adding to tensions in the region, while adding "it has no specific information" on Tehran's involvement in the Islamist group's offensive.

"But we know that Iranian weapons have gone to Gaza, that controlling the sea is difficult, and the links between Hezbollah and Iran," it said.

French President Emmanuel Macron would be contacting his Iranian counterpart to convey this message, his office said.

Reaffirming Israel "has a right to defend itself", Macron's office also called for all measures to be taken to protect civilians while Israel bombards the Gaza Strip.

Paris also reaffirmed it has not been asked to provide military aid to Israel nor join in military operations.”
