I think Iran is well aware of the U.S. war ships headed to the area.

JMO
And I feel confident there are more assets in the area that are not publicly announced, but in the air and at sea. I am sure other countries have assets in the area also that are not announced.

Worried about the Iran situation now.

What are they going to do? :(

Got a bad feeling about this Iran thing.
Re Iran from my country's MSM

"Let us recall that Iran is Israel's greatest enemy state and both countries are engaged in a proxy war in which groups supported by Iran, including Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria, are fighting against Israeli forces.

Hamas was a keen student of Hezbollah

- 'By attacking Israel, Hamas accomplished what Hezbollah, financed by Tehran, has been doing on a micro scale for the past decade.
And now Hamas fighters have implemented Iran's instructions on a macro scale', says an expert on the Middle East.

In his opinion, an attack using paragliders, pontoon landing craft and tunnels is not a surprise.

- 'Hamas was a keen student of Hezbollah .
It was from them that they learned, among other things, how to carry out suicide attacks.
Looking at the scale, scope and tactics of the current attack -
Iran must have been behind it .
Hamas carried out the attack very precisely'.

In his opinion, for several years
we have seen the implementation of the Iranian scenario in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict .

- 'Iran is more cunning, cunning and intelligent.
It helps indirectly, not directly.
And Israel?
It is perceived as the more aggressive party and a threat to Tehran.
Israel will never do anything to Iran. It may have eliminated a few decision-makers, but it did not eliminate the nuclear program, which is still continued.
Israel is much weaker than many people originally thought.
And the organizations controlled by Iran are much stronger' , says a Middle East expert.

'Iran is involved up to its neck'.

Another expert:

'Hamas has basically implemented the war plan developed several years ago by Hezbollah with Iran in the event of a war in the north. Israel has been preparing a response to this plan for years. As it is prepared, we see now .
Iran has supported Hamas for years. It certainly must have been involved in training and planning
. At the beginning, it was an operation carried out by well-trained and equipped people who know exactly what they are doing'.
And - as he emphasizes - Israel admitted that it had been defeated in several places at the tactical level.
The Palestinians from Hamas did not invent this themselves. This required extensive training.
And here the clues lead to Iran, which has experience in waging wars through intermediaries .
For example in Yemen or Syria.
I also have no doubt that Iranian weapons are in Hamas' equipment. Iran has great missile weapons and is able to quickly release simplified versions.

Tehran will not engage directly in the conflict .

- Among others, hence the role of the Americans who sent the aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford to the Eastern Mediterranean.
It's like a big brother standing behind you and watching out if anyone wants to join the theater of war.

This is a blow to the normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
A deal that the Americans worked hard on.
It is also a blow to Joe Biden's policy .
The American president wanted to announce the renewal of the pact with the Saudis before the elections after years of crisis between Washington and Riyadh.

This would lead to the normalization of Israeli-Palestinian issues.

And Iran may want to take advantage of the current situation in talks with the US'."

It wouldn't be easy for Iran to seriously impact Israel since they don't share a border. Flying would require them to go undetected and they'd have to go through Iraq or Syria or Saudi Arabia. By sea they are going to run into the US Navy.. I think the only real way to get things done is using Hezbollah or other terrorist like groups or provide weapons, but with Israel hitting the airpots they would use to get weapons in.. it just seems like it wouldn't be easy (or wise) for them. It might be more of a threat trying to sound like they'd do something, but would they? I don't know.

Long range weapons.

“Warnings to Iran

The French presidency warned Saturday that Iran must refrain from adding to tensions in the region, while adding "it has no specific information" on Tehran's involvement in the Islamist group's offensive.

"But we know that Iranian weapons have gone to Gaza, that controlling the sea is difficult, and the links between Hezbollah and Iran," it said.

French President Emmanuel Macron would be contacting his Iranian counterpart to convey this message, his office said.

Reaffirming Israel "has a right to defend itself", Macron's office also called for all measures to be taken to protect civilians while Israel bombards the Gaza Strip.

Paris also reaffirmed it has not been asked to provide military aid to Israel nor join in military operations.”
My fear that if Iran gets involved, it won't be specifically targeted at Israel but a western country. :(

I think Iran is going to end up sending supplementary defense into Gaza (if they haven’t already) to help counter Israel’s attacks.
They are going to have a hard time getting the supplementary items there. I believe the hits on the airports were to prevent supplies from Iran from landing. The US Navy is in the sea off the coast. Perhaps part of this strategy is to let them fire off their weapons/missiles/mortars, etc to thin the supply and then prevent more supplies from getting into Gaza. AT some point they will run out of rockets I would think.

Iran also has some other concerning allies. Not sure if they would get involved, doing some research on that now.

Biden: Hamas is using innocents as human shields

Speaking at a gala dinner for the Human Rights Campaign in Washington, US President Joe Biden accuses the Hamas terror group of using Palestinian civilians to shield themselves from Israeli retaliation.

“The humanitarian crisis in Gaza, innocent Palestinian families, and the vast majority have nothing to do with Hamas,” he says. “They’re being used as human shields.”

Biden notes that Saturday’s massacre was the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust.

The president says he spoke for an hour the day before with family members of unaccounted-for Americans on Zoom and connects it to his own experiences of losing his first wife and daughter in a car crash in 1972.

“They’ve endured an agony not knowing what’s happening. It’s not the same thing, but I can tell you what it’s like. It’s one thing to lose somebody you know you’re going to lose … like I was able to do with my son,” he says. It’s a very other thing to get a phone call, like I got years ago, saying ‘there’s been an accident, your wife and daughter are dead, I’m not sure your boys are gonna make it.’ The uncertainty of those two or three hours, trying to get back to find out, it’s the worst feeling in the world, it’s gut-wrenching.”

ITA. The American public has no need for such strategic information and Blinken has made it very clear he isn't going to give details.

Israel-Hamas war live: rockets fired from Syria as Israel prepares ground invasion of Gaza (theguardian.com)
Hamas has confirmed that its leader Ismail Haniyeh has met with Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Doha, Qatar, and said the two had agreed to continue cooperation to achieve Hamas’s goals.

The Reuters report on Hamas’s statement follows earlier reports that the meeting appeared to have taken place, without giving exact details.
The TWO agreed…of course.

Got a bad feeling about this Iran thing.

I know what you mean... everything could escalate... it's frightening.

I am hoping IDF is making some headway into (somehow) locating the hostages and eliminating members of Hamas. Then, maybe calling some kind of ceasefire? I don't know if that's possible but I keep hoping for positive actions.

ETA: Hope is difficult when there's sooo much hate.

We feel the loss of our soldiers in our hearts and honor their bravery.
View attachment 453418We will always remember their sacrifice and continue to support the grieving families during this time. May their memories be a blessing.

And some of the living soldiers are really struggling ......

"I was told that many soldiers in a certain unit were suffering shock. They had to deal with the bodies of murdered Israelis, of entire families in the kibbutzim, and to neutralize bombs and explosives hidden in the corpses, before the Israeli rescue teams could recover the bodies. They have seen things that they cannot bear."

This is how it begins….. :(
Exactly.
The pictures of the kidnapped female, tattooed legs broken, Hamas leg across her back, her bare thighs and underwear displayed. Arrested and presumed deceased.
