IDF claims Hamas struck convoy of Gazans fleeing south Friday, killing 70

IDF spokesperson Jonathan Conricus says a strike on a convoy of Gazans fleeing to the southern part of the Strip Friday appears to have been a false flag operation carried out by Hamas.

“When you apply logic and think who would benefit from those very horrible images of children and civilians that were evacuating south and then they are apparently clearly dead, who stands to gain from that, only one organization: Hamas,” Conricus says during a Q and A session on X.

At least 70 people, most of them children, were killed in the strike, which occurred on a route that Israel said should be used for fleeing Gazans. Another 200 were injured.

Conricus says he expects the army will release proof of its claim in the coming hours or days.

“We can say clearly we did not try to strike anybody, any civilians in that area,” he says.

“I don’t think it is beneath Hamas even to kill Palestinian civilians if they think it will help them in the international arena, or to create support or to try to blame Israel,” he says, calling members of the group “subhumans.”

Hamas’s media office claimed cars carrying fleeing civilians were struck in three places as they headed south from Gaza City.

Israel has accused Hamas of attempting to keep Gazans from moving south in order to keep them as human shields or PR fodder.

UK could be complicit in Gaza war crimes, Tory MP warns

The UK could be complicit in war crimes in Gaza and could face legal action if it does not do more to "restrain" Israel, Tory MP Crispin Blunt has warned.

The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) - of which Mr Blunt is co-director - announced it has written a notice of intention to prosecute UK government officials for "aiding and abetting war crimes in Gaza".

The move comes in response to Israel's warning for 1.2 million people living in the northern part of the Gaza Strip to immediately leave their homes and move south.

Mr Blunt told Sky News he is "not sure [his] colleagues have grasped the legal peril they are in" and "everyone must act to restrain people" if they know war crimes are going to happen.

"If you know that a party is going to commit a war crime - and this forcible transfer of people is a precise breach of one of the statutes that governs international law and all states in this area - then you are making yourself complicit," he said.

[…]

Too bad the Tory MP hasn't bothered to educate himself about International laws pertaining to fighting a war with terrorists.
I sure wish politicians would knock off the ridiculous rhetoric.

Israel said to bomb dozens of Hamas sites in Gaza

Israel’s Channel 12 news claims Israel has carried out strikes on at least 50 sites in Gaza overnight, destroying lookout posts, command centers and missile launchers.

Reports and footage showed heavy strikes in Gaza overnight, many of them coming in quick succession.

Palestinians in Gaza said Israel’s bombing campaign overnight was the heaviest since it launched its retaliatory attacks last week, Reuters reports.

Bombardment was especially heavy in Gaza City, with airstrikes hitting the areas around two of the city’s main hospitals, they said.

Authorities in Gaza said at least 2,670 people had so far been killed by Israel’s retaliatory strikes, a quarter of them children, and nearly 10,000 wounded. Another 1,000 people were missing and believed to be under rubble.

...The footage was reportedly captured on body-worn cameras that were taken from terrorists' corpses.
All emphasis mine.

Sad, but not surprising.
Notice the word, "alleged" ?
If they have found this evidence, I wish they'd show it to the public.
People need to know what is happening.

If Hamas is doing this, I believe it's child abuse.
Not like they'd care; considering their actions last week, but still.

I've checked around to find other links for Hamas in particular training child soldiers, but there are prob. other countries who practice this ?

Israel-Hamas war live updates: Fears for civilians as 'next stages' of Gaza attack loom (cnn.com)

Israel "has no interest to occupy Gaza," UN envoy says

Israel "has no interest" in occupying Gaza but will do "whatever is needed" to eliminate Hamas, the country's ambassador to the United Nations said Sunday.

His remarks come after US President Joe Biden warned Israel against occupying the coastal enclave as it signals it is preparing for a ground invasion amid a spiraling humanitarian crisis.

"We have no interest to occupy Gaza or to stay in Gaza, but since we are fighting for our survival and the only way, as the president [Biden] himself defined is to obliterate Hamas, so we will have to do whatever is needed to obliterate their capabilities," Israel's ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan told CNN's Kaitlan Collins.

In an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday, Biden said it would be a “big mistake” for Israel to occupy Gaza. His comments amount to one of the few times the US president has called on Israel to use restraint in responding to the Hamas attacks that left 1,400 dead.

Michael Herzog, the Israeli ambassador to the US, told CNN on Sunday that Israel does not intend to occupy Gaza after the conflict ends.

“We have no desire to occupy or reoccupy Gaza. We have no desire to rule over the lives of more than 2 million Palestinians,” Herzog said.

Biden meanwhile, has called for the protection of civilians as the US has been working to alleviate shortages of food, water and gas.

Erdan said water has been turned back on in southern Gaza, but he didn't say if electricity was on for desalination.

Biden considering trip to Israel in coming days, official says

US President Joe Biden is considering a trip to Israel in the coming days but no travel has been finalized, a senior administration official says. It would be a powerful symbol of sympathy and support following the brutal attack by Hamas.

The official could not publicly discuss internal deliberations about the potential presidential travel and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu invited Biden for a solidarity visit Sunday, a Netanyahu aide told The Times of Israel earlier.

A trip would be a chance for Biden to personally affirm to the Israeli people the US is standing firm behind them. But it would come amid growing fears that a looming Israeli move into Gaza could spark a wider war with devastating humanitarian consequences.

Biden’s presence could be seen as a provocative move by Hamas’ chief sponsor, Iran, or potentially viewed as tone-deaf by Arab nations as civilian casualties mount in Gaza. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has already been traveling around the Mideast this past week trying to prevent the war with Hamas from igniting a broader regional conflict.

Thanks ! I missed part of that.

Absolutely disgusting. Giving children no chance to grow up safely.
Again, those people are cannon fodder.
I think many, esp. children, have no choice.

'There is no safe space left in Gaza' - Save the Children

Gabriella Waaijman, Humanitarian Director at Save the Children has described how difficult the situation is in Gaza for her staff.

Many of the organisation's staff have left their homes and she says there is very little she can do to help them while they remain inside Gaza.

“One of my colleagues told me today that he is losing hope and that his dream is just to wake up with his children still in his arms,” she told the BBC.

Waaijman said that there is no safe space left in Gaza and her organisation is concerned that any further escalation will have dramatic consequences on it inhabitants.

The organisation is massing supplies on the border with Egypt, should the border reopen and aid be allowed in. But with the recent bombing of the area, challenges remain.

Five Canadans have been killed in the violence between Israel and Hamas, the Canadian government has confirmed, according to Canadian media.

Three Canadians are still missing, CTV News reported, citing Julie Sunday, Global Affairs Canada’s assistant deputy minister for consular security and emergency.

“It has always been a possibility that missing persons would be confirmed deceased ... It is an extremely tragic outcome,” Sunday said, announcing the fifth death. “Our thoughts are with the families in all of these cases.”

“We are very focused on addressing the cases of the three missing persons, who we continue to try to locate and bring back to safety in Canada.”

I'm curious, why you would say that is hypocrisy? China hasn't been involved in a war for decades.
No they haven't (just teetering on the edge internally), but I'd wager that Taiwan and Hong Kong could tell you all about what neutrality and fairness mean to the Red Regime.

These confiscated weapons are only 20% of the ones used by Hamas to kill Israelis.

In order to prevent further attacks, the IDF will see to the removal of Hamas’ terrorist infrastructure and weapon manufacturers in Gaza.

Biden expresses shock at Muslim child's stabbing death in Illinois

Biden said tonight in a statement that he and first lady Jill Biden were "shocked and sickened" by the murder of a young Palestinian Muslim immigrant in his home in Illinois.

The boy, Wadea Al-Fayoume, age 6, was stabbed 26 times yesterday in his family's home in Plainfield. His mother also was stabbed and critically wounded.

The family's landlord, Joseph Czuba, 71, has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and two counts of committing a hate crime.

"The child’s Palestinian Muslim family came to America seeking what we all seek—a refuge to live, learn, and pray in peace," the statement said. "This horrific act of hate has no place in America, and stands against our fundamental values: freedom from fear for how we pray, what we believe, and who we are."

Rafah crossing to open at 9 a.m. — report

The Rafah border crossing from Gaza into Egypt is set to open at 9 a.m. today, NBC News reports, citing Kamel Khatib, a representative for the Palestinian embassy.

The opening will allow foreign nationals to exit the beleaguered enclave while allowing in humanitarian goods.

Israel has in recent days agreed to ease its siege on the Strip imposed in the wake of the October 7 massacres. On Sunday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the crossing would be opening, but did not say when.

''Warning - this story contains descriptions and pictures of a graphic nature

We've been travelling to the many different scenes where Hamas fighters carried out their terror attack on Israel this week, and it is becoming clear that their tactics and levels of brutality changed from location to location.

In the attack on the Nova music festival, for example, the gunmen abducted some of the partygoers, and then murdered many more, spraying them with gunfire and throwing grenades into places they were hiding.

The hiding places included toilets, dirt bins, cars, and bomb shelters.''

''In the various kibbutzim they attacked nearby, their behaviour descended to a whole new level of depravity.

They didn't just kill - they took their time. They bound families, tortured them, and eventually murdered them.

This is something fundamentally different to the behaviours of Hamas we have seen in the past.

I've met Hamas on many occasions and interviewed their fighters.

They were always much more like a militia at war with Israel, rather than bloodthirsty killers and torturers.

Something has changed.''

Just my opinion, but nobody was interested in what Churchill had to say until after WWII was declared.

He was very involved from a young age in extremely violent, intractable conflicts with 'guerilla' (ie terrorist) groups opposed to the British, like the Boer (Afrikaans) War in South Africa, and the IRA in Ireland.

The British won WWII, but by that point had become determined to give up the business of being an empire, let all their colonies go, and just live the quiet life of an ordinary country.

To me, a reminder that nothing is new under the sun.

JMO

You forgot Gallipoli, his biggest disaster.

My opinion - and I consider Churchill one of the finest minds of the XX century - he was gifted at everything, but was a lousy naval commander.
