I wish Elon Musk had left the name/brand well enough alone but oh well .
Elon hasn't replied to my tweets....
So the rocket that was launched by terrorists only killed several dozen?

How many other sources are saying this?

Is "several dozen" the official count?

Also, doctors are saying this, not just Hamas.

So the rocket that was launched by terrorists only killed several dozen?

This is the only source that is saying this.
And by someone who represents the Israeli government? Shameful! If this is not disinformation, I don’t know what else it is.

So that we are clear, BBM.
  • Hundreds of fatalities in Al Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza were reported as this Flash Update was being finalized (22:00). The compound hosted patients and internally displaced persons (IDPs) seeking safe shelter.

An Israeli soldier told the Sun: 'This place has many terrible secrets - and we're sadly finding more and more every day.
Many children died here - some horribly mutilated.'

Sad that there's not enough outrage over this, but more anger over the hospital attack that is sounding like it was 'friendly fire' ?
The dead and wounded at the hospital is on Hamas, imo, even if it came from Iran or was supplied by them.
I wish the presser held would've placed blame where it was due.

If anything happened to the relatives of the people tearing down the missing posters, they'd feel differently, right ?

Wish that it didn't happen to anyone !

Link below : People are raging that Gaza isn't 'free'. Or. 'Let Gaza live'.
Rage instead against Hamas and the terrorists, they are the ones who are causing their own people to suffer.

Capitol Police said of the mass arrests: 'We warned the protestors to stop demonstrating and when they did not comply we began arresting them.'

Rep. Randy Weber posted on X a video of a sign he had hanging outside his office that said 'I stand with Israel' that had been torn down by protesters.

Bolding mine.
Not ok, protesters. :(

A zero tolerance policy directed towards those who are supporting Israel is not going to help sway people to their side.
Omo.
I honestly don’t care who hit the hospital. I care about the destruction of innocent lives. It’s a horror. No matter who did it.

Rafah crossing to open for aid: what we know

Here is what we know about the desperately-needed aid being allowed into Gaza.

  • Israel said Wednesday that it will allow Egypt to deliver limited humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
  • The announcement to allow water, food and other supplies happened as fury over the blast at Gaza City’s al-Ahli Hospital spread across the Middle East, and as US President Joe Biden visited Israel in hopes of preventing a wider conflict in the region.
  • Biden said Egypt’s president agreed to open the crossing and to let in an initial group of 20 trucks with humanitarian aid. If Hamas confiscates aid, “it will end,” he said.
  • The aid will start moving Friday at the earliest, White House officials said.
  • Egypt must still repair the road across the border that was cratered by Israeli airstrikes. More than 200 trucks and some 3,000 tons of aid are positioned at or near the Rafah crossing, Gaza’s only connection to Egypt, said the head of the Red Crescent for North Sinai, Khalid Zayed.
  • Supplies will go in under supervision of the UN, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry told Al-Arabiya TV. Asked if foreigners and dual nationals seeking to leave would be let through, he said: “As long as the crossing is operating normally and the (crossing) facility has been repaired.”
  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said the decision was approved after a request from Biden. It said Israel “will not thwart” deliveries of food, water or medicine from Egypt, as long as they are limited to civilians in the south of the Gaza Strip and don’t go to Hamas militants.
  • Israel’s statement made no mention of fuel, which is badly needed for hospital generators.

Egypt warns it will not accept 'attempt to force civilian residents to take refugee and migrate to Egypt'

Reuters: The Gaza Strip is effectively under Israeli control and Palestinians could instead be moved to Israel’s Negev desert “till the militants are dealt with”, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi told a joint press conference in Cairo with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

The border between Sinai and the Gaza Strip has the only crossing from the Palestinian territory that is not controlled by Israel.

“What is happening now in Gaza is an attempt to force civilian residents to take refugee and migrate to Egypt, which should not be accepted,” said Sisi.

“Egypt rejects any attempt to resolve the Palestinian issue by military means or through the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land, which would come at the expense of the countries of the region,” he said.

Sisi said the Egyptian people would “go out and protest in their millions ... if called upon to do so” against any displacement of Gaza’s residents to Sinai.

Referring to the Egyptian position at a Beirut press conference, Hamas official Osama Hamdan called “for rallying around this position and supporting it on the popular and Arab official level because this represents real protection for our Palestinian people.”

Hostilities in the Gaza Strip and Israel | Flash Update #11

17 Oct 2023

GAZA HUMANITARIAN OVERVIEW

Hostilities and casualties

Israeli airstrikes and shelling continued. Among the deadliest attacks recorded today (17 October) were airstrikes on residential buildings in Rafah city (at least 28 fatalities); in Khan Yunis (40 fatalities) and in the Emirati neighbourhood of Khan Yunis (21 fatalities). The fatalities included people moving southward in compliance with the Israeli military order to evacuate the northern Gaza Strip.

This afternoon (17 October), an UNRWA school in Al Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, sheltering some 4,000 IDPs, was hit during an Israeli airstrike, with at least six people killed and dozens injured, including UNRWA staff. UNRWA has been providing the coordinates of its facilities to relevant parties on a daily basis.

Since the start of hostilities, 3,000 Palestinians have been killed and 12,500 have been injured (excluding Al Ahli hospital casualties). The fatality toll in Gaza during the 11 days of hostilities has already surpassed the total number of fatalities during the 2014 escalation, which lasted for over 50 days (2,251 Palestinian fatalities). According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, as of 16 October at 18:00, 47 entire families have been killed, amounting to about 500 people.

Additionally, it is estimated that hundreds of people are still trapped beneath the rubble awaiting rescue, or recovery. The decomposition of bodies under collapsed buildings is an increasing humanitarian and environmental concern.

Rescue teams, primarily from the Palestinian Civil Defense, are struggling to carry out their mission, amid continuous airstrikes, severe shortage of fuel to run vehicles and equipment, and with limited or no connection to mobile networks.

As of 21:00, 17 October, no new Israeli fatalities have been reported. According to official Israeli sources, at least 1,300 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed in Israel, and at least 4,229 have been injured, the vast majority on 7 October. The fatality toll is over three-fold the cumulative number of Israelis killed since OCHA began recording casualties in 2005 (nearly 400).

According to the Gaza Ministry of Public Works, as of 14 October, 8,840 housing units had been destroyed and 5,434 housing units had been damaged and rendered uninhabitable.

Prior to today's attack on Al Ahli hospital, WHO had documented 57 attacks on health care, resulting in 16 fatalities of health care workers and 28 injuries, damage to 26 hospitals and other healthcare facilities, including 17 hospitals and 23 ambulances. Four of the latter, all in northern Gaza (Beit Hanoun, Hamad Rehabilitation, Al Karama, and Ad Dura) had to be evacuated and are no longer operational.

The scope of damage sustained by education and other civilian infrastructure as a result of bombardments is also of increasing concern. As of 16 October, 167 educational facilities have been hit by airstrikes, including at least 20 UNRWA schools, two of which were used as emergency shelters for IDPs, and 140 Palestinian Authority (PA) schools, one of which was destroyed. One university building and seven churches were damaged, and at least eleven mosques were destroyed.

Water and sanitation facilities have also been severely damaged. As of 12 October, at least six water wells, three water pumping stations, one water reservoir, and one desalination plant serving over 1,100,000 people were damaged.

Sanders blocks Republican attempt to delay U.S. aid to Gaza

Sen. Bernie Sanders blocked Republican efforts to fast-track legislation preventing the Biden administration from spending its newly announced $100 million in humanitarian aid for the Palestinians.

Republican Sen. Rick Scott attempted to pass via unanimous consent his "Stop Taxpayer Funding of Hamas Act," which would have prevented the money from being spent until Biden would clear a series of restrictions, including certifying with congressional committees that the money wouldn't be spent in a way that would benefit Hamas.

The White House noted in its original statement that the aid would be provided through "trusted partners including UN agencies and international NGOs" — undoubtedly attempting to preempt any accusations that the aid violates the Taylor Force Act, which prohibits U.S. funding to the Palestinian Authority over its payments to convicted terrorists and their families.

"Half of the people in Gaza are children," Sanders said, blocking Scott's maneuver. "I implore you: Do not take Hamas' inhumanity, brutality and terrorism against children."

He may have made a typo or something. If it was only several dozen, they would have easily had an exact count like 36-44. If this was the truth, you would see Israeli officials blasting the exact amounts. But it seems like only this tweet......

Here is more on Egypt’s thinking as Israel’s unprecedented bombardment and siege of Gaza, home to 2.3 million people, forces its residents southwards towards the Rafah crossing and towards Sinai.

Reuters: President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said on Wednesday that Egyptians in their millions would reject the forced displacement of Palestinians into Sinai, adding that any such move would turn the Egyptian peninsula into a base for attacks against Israel.

Later, following a phone call between Sisi and US President Joe Biden, a White House spokesman said about 20 trucks carrying humanitarian aid would enter Gaza from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula in the coming days.

White House spokesman John Kirby said the road needed some repairs first, and that he hoped more trucks would follow. The Egyptian presidency said it was agreed that aid should be provided in a “sustainable manner”.

Egypt has been trying to channel humanitarian relief to Gaza through the Rafah crossing, but aid has been piling up on the Egyptian side after Israeli bombardments made the crossing inoperable.

A few pages back a Newsweek article was posted. There was an interview with a Palestinian law student that thought Israel deserved what happened on 10/07.
Yes, not just one, either. It was the knee-jerk response from many who are ideologically pro-Palestine. I think they've made themselves look like monsters.

Egypt releases readout of humanitarian aid call between el-Sisi and Biden

From CNN's Sharon Braithwaite and journalist Magdy Samaan

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and US President Joe Biden discussed in a phone call Wednesday ways to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza through the Rafah border crossing, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement.

The talks between the two leaders focused "on the humanitarian situation in Gaza and ways to facilitate the implementation of humanitarian aid," according to the statement.

"The call between President el-Sisi and the American president witnessed the agreement to enter humanitarian aid to the Strip through Rafah crossing in a sustainable manner," the statement said.

Biden told reporters on Air Force One that el-Sisi agreed to allow 20 trucks through the key crossing.

Egypt's statement said officials in the two nations are coordinating with international humanitarian organizations — supervised by the United Nations — to deliver aid.
"Biden expresses his thanks and appreciation for the efforts of the Egyptian leadership towards achieving peace and stability in the region," the Egyptian statement said.

UN says Gaza needs aid deliveries of at least 100 trucks a day

While the agreement to allow aid through the Rafah border between Egypt and Gaza was a breakthrough, the flow of relief will still fall short of the perceived need, Reuters reports.

UN aid chief Martin Griffiths told the Security Council on Wednesday that the organisation sought to bring aid deliveries to Gaza back to 100 trucks a day, the level before the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Ha, I vaguely remember a quote I once heard: "If you are looking for logic and facts you should stick to physics, because you won't find it in politics!"

However, more seriously, no one seems to be giving much insight to the position of the PNA

"Abbas’s Fatah movement, which controls the PLO and Palestinian Authority ruling over the West Bank, has had a tense relationship with Hamas since the latter violently seized control of the Gaza Strip in 2007 and removed all Fatah officials from the coastal enclave..."

IMO, it's much easier to blast Hamas when you are safely out of reach of their assassins.
Yes, I agree. So would not the PA power-player (those in 'charge') authorities - who don't seem to be living in the Gaza themselves, safely ensconed in the West Bank and other Arab nations, speak up and act on behalf of their downtrodden innocent civilians in the Gaza?

I thought that's what "leaders" did. Speak up, protect and act on behalf of their people. Protect them from Hamas. Yet ... such a profound silence.

Surely, these leaders (living outside of Gaza again) aren't throwing their own Gazan counterparts to the Hamas wolves?? Such a profound failure of "leadership". If so, wow.

Pro-Palestinian protestors are taking over the U.S. Capitol

“Jews Say Cease Fire Now”
I think the Israelis would strongly disagree with the slogans on these shirts. ^^^

The article I'd linked didn't say who tore down the posters ?
Childish behavior, imo.
Leave people's posters alone and don't attack someone b/c they want to support Israel.
Don't damage property in order to further your 'cause'.
Omo.

Just to be clear, and RBBM: those reports from the UN say "were reported" (NOT 'confirmed') for the flash update ...

And we should all know by now that flash/breaking information and details are often wrong. Witness the very cause of this incdent being misereported in those 'flash' messages and news releases.

Just to be clear: "Hundreds of Casualties" may very well have been mis-translated and/or interpreted as "Hundreds of Fatalities" in those flashes; whether by accident or design - time will tell.

This is exactly what happens when news outlets, and others, take "unconfirmed" information and put it into the mass public domain as fact.

Hundreds of fatalities were clearly reported yesterday by news agencies across the world. The information is consistent.

I never heard of “several dozens apparently”.
