The world wasn’t created on October 7th, true.

But IMO the future will be different than what would have been presumed on October 6th.

The multitudes of people worldwide who are supporting this attack on Israel gives insight into the future. Right now there are protests and some violence, especially around U.S. and Israeli embassies

There have been several murders since the attack outside of Israel, on random people and one child who had nothing to do with this.

I am certain that plans are being made by Islamist extremists even as I type. Long-range plans for revenge. Plans that will come to fruition without us knowing where or when.

People like me, a lifelong New Yorker, know that we are a target city.

We all know what countries were the “Axis of Evil” in World War Two.

IMO the Axis of Evil is now Iran, Russia, North Korea and likely China. Iran is the financial underwriter of what we see happening.

Putin is buddied up with Iran. Obviously Putin is another despot who started a war in which Ukrainian civilians have been slaughtered at home, and he’s also one who will patiently wait for payback for anyone who objects to his leadership.

If Iran becomes a nuclear power, I fear for the future of all of us.

I'm not sure how the word "China" became attached to my post in your quotation. That is not what I wrote.

Yes, somehow when I was typing “China” in the body of my post, it ended up enmeshed in your quote.

I‘ve already seen it and removed it.

Why is this not being discussed more in the news? Seems like a massive development, doesn’t it?
IDK and this might be unfair, but I don't get the impression in UK that many of our reporters read the press in Israel. (I usually have to seek out other ME & Israeli commentators usually who do read & link to Israeli media)

Anyway, I posted a reply to you earlier because the Israel Ambassador to UN said something different & we already had Biden give an explicit warning on this topic

Do people just want to be oppositional? Is this why I see so many people against Israel? I know we’re watching the same stuff? We’ve heard the same stories. We all know who started this on October 7, 2023. For the life of me, I cannot understand why Israel is being hated so fiercely right now. Their response is BECAUSE war came to them from hateful, soulless terrorists who are not for anyone but themselves and to feed their evil. Where’s the worldwide hate for Hamas? For the disgusting, cowardly, evil things they’ve done to innocent people. It’s just not adding up for me except that people just want to be oppositional or controversial.
imo, the hate is being generated by some news media creating click bait rather than reporting facts. Those with journalistic integrity are calling them out for their appalling lack of professional ethics.

JMO

This was no harmless mistake. It was not an accident. This calumny wasn’t attributable to the fog of war or a misstep by the citizen journalists on social media whom professional reporters look upon with contempt. Had the press responded to Hamas’s claims with some incredulity, cautioned patience, and waited mere hours to confirm events as they occurred, this could have been avoided. But every basic journalistic best practice was thrown out the window in pursuit of nothing more than a sordid little narrative.

This was a deliberate effort by members of the press — the commanding heights of international journalism — to establish the moral equivalency between Israel and Hamas they appear to need. The psychology that produces acts of unscrupulous malpractice like these is for others to judge. What can be said without hesitation is that it won’t be the first of its kind.

IDF says they are striking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon

From CNN's Hadas Gold and Sarah El Sirgany

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement early Thursday local time that they are striking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

A CNN crew in southern Lebanon heard explosions around this time.

On Wednesday, Hezbollah said it had conducted several attacks on Israeli military posts along the Israel-Lebanon border.

The IDF said they would provide more details on Thursday's strikes.

The trip became much harder for President Biden. Heads of state usually only travel on diplomatic missions once the hard work of negotiation has been done and a deal is ready to be signed.
Coming to Tel Aviv was a gamble for President Biden. He wanted to ease Gaza's humanitarian catastrophe, while supporting Israel's war effort - perhaps an impossible circle to square with Mr Netanyahu.

But a deal emerged from their meeting. Israel was promised more military aid. In return it agreed to let convoys carrying food, water and medicine enter southern Gaza from Egypt. Hospitals are desperate for fuel for their generators, but when the deal was announced it was not mentioned.

Apart from supporting the Israelis and reminding them to observe the laws of war, Mr Biden also wants to reinforce the message that the war must not spread. He had already deployed two aircraft carrier battle groups to the eastern Mediterranean, to show Iran and its ally in Lebanon, the Hezbollah militia and political movement, that they would have the US to reckon with if they intervened.

One reason why leaders inside and outside the Middle East are struggling with the renewed war between Hamas and Israel is because they are in unknown territory. The old certainties had become comforting assumptions. But now they are mostly shattered and gone.

I can't quote any more due to ToS but it's good article

The Aussie public been busy polling (voting) in a referendum on a potential change to our Constitution. (It didn't pass.)

But Australia has for the last 20+ years listed Hamas as an entirety as a terrorist organisation, and participates in sanctions against Hamas. Link

RSBM
Likewise Canada; here's the list of terrorist organisations recognized as such by Canada:

state department and its unpopular opinions?, around an hour ago
To the U.S. State Department :Fair enough, and I don't completely disagree !

Two opinions :
1) I mourn the loss of all innocent life, including those who are living under a cruel regime.
It's sad that the state dept. couldn't acknowledge the loss of Israeli life.

2)We do not know how many Palestinians side with Hamas, and neither does the state dept., imo.
But for those who do not ; now would be a good time to start speaking out and rejecting Hamas. They all need to start telling what Hamas has done to them. To their children and families.

Who are you talking about, that supports these attacks? Such a generalized statement about 'people'. Which people?

If you're talking about Palestinians, IMO it's very unlikely they have heard or read any details of the attacks. Pretty sure they don't watch western media. They probably only heard that people in Israel were killed. And since Israel is their enemy, they don't mind.

This is just human nature during war.

JMO

this article reminded me of your post
reporter says
'Most Palestinians were as surprised as anyone else when Hamas attacked.'

I just can't imagine how shattering this has been for both Israeli citizens and the Gazans who had no clue. Wake up one morning and your whole world/loved ones destroyed.

I agree that future repercussions are very wide and complex.

Every single country in the world has their own issues and perspectives about what is in their own best interests That often involves seemingly mundane things like trade, jobs, economic prosperity, access to oil or water, as well as threats to their security.

Report: Palestinian Authority leadership holds meeting "to confront ongoing Israeli aggression"

From CNN's Mariya Knight and Kareem Khadder

Palestinian Authority leadership held an urgent meeting Wednesday “to confront ongoing Israeli aggression” following the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital blast in Gaza City, official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

The meeting was headed by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, the news agency reported.

During the meeting, the leadership emphasized the need to prevent the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, which they considered a "red line" that cannot be crossed.

The leadership also underscored “the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to defend themselves” while taking into account "international legitimacy and international law," according to WAFA.

The news agency reported that the Palestinian leadership announced their intention to follow up on legal cases alleging "war crimes" that have been filed in international courts.

The leadership also resolved to work with “all concerned parties” to provide “medical relief supplies, food, water, and electricity” to the devastated areas of Gaza.
The Palestinian leadership decided to remain in permanent session in order to follow up on developments in the situation around Gaza, WAFA reported.

The blast at the hospital fueled fury across the region over the bloodshed in Gaza, a coastal enclave home to 2.2 million people that has been under siege by Israel for more than a week in retaliation for a large-scale terror attack carried out by Hamas in Israel on October 7.

I wonder, if in this meeting, the Palestinian Authority will also:

- confront the ongoing terroristic actions and threats of Hamas' actions towards Israel (indiscriminate firing
of munitions with no targetting protocol, thus putting civilians at risk with each and every one - a war
crime);
- confront the crossing of the red line of 'war crimes' committed by Hamas against unarmed civilians en
masse in Israel on 7/10;
- follow up to investigate and consult with the United Nations regarding the numerous war crimes committed by Hamas on 7/10;
- call upon Hamas to release, without delay or condition, the hostages they took (a war crime) and
removed from Israel to Gaza (another war crme this forced relocation is); and
- finally confront and deal with Hamas, the terrorist organisation, that the Palestinian Authority has allowed
to remain in governing power over the Gaza Strip palestinians since 2006.

I want to know these answers. I'm sure that innocent Palestinians must also want to know these answers.

My very wild guess to all of your questions would be NO.
Not one person will call out Hamas. IMO

BBM. What an absurd and incendiary comment for a reporter to make! She should be fired.

Who fired the rocket that hit a hospital DOES MATTER which is why Israel has gathered proof.

A greeting between two world leaders--a Christian and a Jew--also DOES MATTER because it is a sincere gesture of mutual respect for religious diversity.

Any Arab who gets angry about it is likely a member of the Hamas regime who thinks it is a'okay to slaughter innocent human beings.

Indeed.
Vitally important.

Looking at the two cars and the smallish hole in the blacktop in the parking lot, I also question the body count at the hospital .
Doesn't look like enough damage for nearly 500 deaths ?
Unless the Hamas'-engineered (or Iranian) rocket hit the ground and continued at a horizontal level, killing more people inside ?

having now got to that end of that last link I posted, it might be well past that point.
Ominous conclusions in the final paragraphs

Israel’s announcement that it will allow Egypt to deliver limited quantities of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip “falls short” of meeting the needs of the people of Gaza, Human Rights Watch said.

The office of Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said earlier on Wednesday that Israel will not allow any aid from its territory to the Gaza Strip, but that it “will not thwart humanitarian supplies from Egypt as long as it is only food, water and medicine for the civilian population”.

In a statement, HRW called on the Israeli government to allow electricity and fuel to run the local power plant or generators. “The collective punishment of the population is a war crime,” it said.

Bill Van Esveld, associate children’s rights director at HRW, said:

Israel’s bombardment and unlawful total blockade of Gaza mean that countless wounded and sick children, among many other civilians, will die for want of medical care.

@Vern had an informative post about how damage may have occurred based on @Vern's extensive background in explosives (paragraphing) It was in this thread maybe 20 pages back. Very good post, logical and informative.
