I realize that information changes fast during conflict, but I really wish journalists would verify before they rush to put information out.
I don't think I've ever seen this much misreporting in one place before. At least the NYT was big enough to issue a correction. A lot of them haven't, and there have been HUGE mistakes. MOO

BREAKING

Israel strikes West Bank

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says one of its aircraft has attacked an “underground terrorist route”, which it alleged included a Hamas cell, in Jenin in the West Bank.
According to Reuters news agency, citing Palestinian medics, two Palestinians were killed and an unspecified number of others were wounded when Israeli aircraft carried out a strike early on Sunday in the city.

It is unclear if the air raid referred to by Reuters is the same one that the IDF posted about on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Israeli Defense Force has announced that the Explosion earlier tonight at the Al-Ansari Mosque within the Jenin Refugee Camp in the West Bank was the result of a Joint-Operation and Airstrike between the IDF as well as Shin Bet on a Underground-Terror Compound beneath the Mosque which was being used by both Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad to prepare an Imminent Terrorist Attack.

A meeting house for terrorist organizations that also serves as a mosque. Makes sense. Terrorists have to believe, rather than question ... what better angle than religion.

The IDF & ISA just conducted an aerial strike on a Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist compound in the Al-Ansar Mosque in Jenin.

Recent IDF intel revealed that the Mosque was used as a command center to plan and execute terrorist attacks against civilians.

The Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet say a military aircraft struck an “underground terror route” at a mosque in the northern West Bank city of Jenin where members of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad were sheltering.

In a joint statement, the security agencies said the IDF carried out the strike after receiving intelligence that the cell was planning an imminent attack, without elaborating.

The Shin Bet and military said the terror operatives were using the mosque as a base to plan and carry out attacks, including the recent detonation of an explosive near Israeli troops along the West Bank security barrier. No soldiers were hurt in the blast.

Big thanks and continued appreciation to all who continue to update this thread with links to the breaking news events.

It's long been frightening to me what little attention span the US has for the real news from subjects such as Ukraine and Hamas. Like a movie that premiered and ended, whereas British news is the International news. Just my experience and opinion.

The war is with people who grew up under the Hamas government, who were educated in their schools, and who emerged as young adults capable of torturing and murdering babies. This isn't a small gang of street thugs. This is a terrorist organization that brutally tortured, raped, and murdered 1400 people in a few hours. That terrorist organization bears the same name as the elected government of Gaza. We cannot separate the terrorists from the elected government.

We can exclude the people of Gaza who had nothing to do with committing the 1400 murders, and who had nothing to do with educating the terrorists. Everyone else had a hand in it, in my humble opinion.

Israel-Hamas war live: Strikes on Gaza to increase from today, Israeli spokesperson says (theguardian.com)
29s ago20.43 EDT

The United States has proposed on Saturday a draft UN security council resolution that says Israel has a right to defend itself and demands Iran stop exporting arms to “militias and terrorist groups threatening peace and security across the region”.

Reuters reports that the draft text, which it has seen, calls for the protection of civilians – including those who are trying to get to safety – notes that states must comply with international law when responding to “terrorist attacks”, and urges the “continuous, sufficient and unhindered” delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip.

It was not immediately clear if or when the US planned to put the draft resolution to a vote. To pass, a resolution needs at least nine votes in favour and no vetoes by Russia, China, the US, France or Britain.

The US move comes after it vetoed a Brazilian-drafted text on Wednesday that would have called for humanitarian pauses in the conflict between Israel and Palestinian Hamas militants to allow aid access to Gaza.

People need to start loving their babies and children MORE than they hate their neighbor. That’s the only way there’s going to be future peace for all.

IDF strike was on mosque

A subsequent post from the IDF's English-language account clarifies that the strike in Jenin targeted a mosque.

"Recent IDF intel revealed that the mosque was used as a command centre to plan and execute terrorist attacks against civilians," the posts says.

The Israeli-occupied West Bank is a separate territory to the Gaza Strip, where the IDF earlier vowed to intensify its strikes. It warned residents of Gaza City to move south for their own safety.

The Mossad and Shin Bet have reportedly formed a special operations center tasked with tracking down and killing members of the Hamas commando unit that led the Gaza-ruling terror group’s deadly onslaught in southern Israel on October 7.

According to the Ynet news site, the unit will be named after the World War I-era Jewish underground organization “Nili,” an acronym for a Hebrew phrase which translates as “the Eternal One of Israel will not lie.”

The report said the command center’s goal will be to take out all the Nukbha fighters who were involved in the surprise assault two weeks ago...

[...]

With a likely ground offensive looming, Israel has warned that every Hamas member faces death but two accused masterminds of the October 7 attacks are at the top of its hit list: Hamas military commander Muhammad Deif and political leader Yahya Sinwar.

[...]

Security sources outside Gaza say Deif and Sinwar are now embedded in a network of tunnels built to resist the bombing campaign launched after the brutal attacks on communities and military bases near the border shook Israel to its core.

[...]

Deif’s wife and at least one child were killed in an Israeli airstrike during the 2014 Gaza war. Deif has reportedly lost one eye and been left disabled by the attempts on his life but it has not weakened his influence.

[...]

“Every member of Hamas is a dead man,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

At least 13 killed in airstrikes in West Bank refugee camp, UN agency says

From CNN's Nic Robertson

At least 13 Palestinians, including five children, were reported killed in an Israeli security forces' operation that lasted 28 hours in a West Bank refugee camp, according to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

The operation took place in Nur Shams, the UNRWA director in the West Bank, Adam Bouloukos, said.

The statement added that the UNRWA has suspended schools, health services, and solid waste collections in the camp.

Earlier in the day, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that at least 84 Palestinians have been killed in the occupied West Bank since October 7.
