It’s better than no power at all when power is sketchy to begin with. Yes, it’s not the cure all, but I’m reading how much it has helped both civilian households in Gaza as well as businessess.

They can’t depend on Hamas to give them fuel that is being stolen to use in the tunnels and to promote terrorism, so other means of getting power is being explored and implemented. Can’t see a negative in that.

Hamas has fuel for their vehicle and missiles. If they cared about the hospitals, they would supply the hospitals with fuel.

Hamas wants access to more fuel to operate the generators needed to pump oxygen into their tunnels. Without free foreign fuel, they have to choose between running their vehicles, firing missiles, and keeping the tunnel systems operating.

No fuel should be provided to Hamas, which means no fuel for Gaza.

"Egypt's show of strength.

Because of the tension in Israel.

1698268542353.png

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi inspected the 4th Armored Division in Suez near the Sinai Peninsula.

The reason is the growing tension between Hamas and Israel.
'What we see today in military formations is a reason to be proud of',
Sisi said.

'We are making significant efforts to provide the civilian population in Gaza with all necessary assistance and alleviate their suffering'
Sisi said, adding that
'Egypt is dealing with all crises wisely and patiently, without excessive use of force'.

In his speech, the Egyptian president said that Egypt 'played a positive role in containing the escalation in the Gaza Strip during five rounds of conflict over the last 20 years'.

President Sisi said that Egypt had
'sufficient strength',
but assured that
'it would only use it rationally'.

'Egypt has the strength to defend itself with reason and patience, and anger should never lead to wrong decisions' Sisi said.

15th military power in the world

The president added that the army, thanks to its strength and wisdom, 'holds no grudges' and that its goal is 'to protect Egypt and its national security'.
He assured that maintaining security is an essential and fundamental role of the armed forces, including protecting the country's borders.

Egypt continues to rank among the world's 15 largest military powers and leads the Middle East and North Africa region in air power, according to the 2023 Global Firepower Rankings, an annually updated statistics-based website tracking defense information."

These refugee camps are high rise housing projects. They have been there forever. (Since 1948) People are born, raised and die there. It's entirely possible for Hamas to be in them. They were bombed last week. The "camps" are quite large.

American media are reporting it was a "shelter house" in the southern area of Gaza to which the family had evacuated. The father was nearby in a Gaza hospital reporting on the humanitarian crisis there.

Thanks for the link! I had no idea its military was that large. Stunning!

President Biden's words have become more pointed because American media are now focused on the air strikes in residential areas of Gaza and the inhumane conditions in the Gaza hospitals.

… I think that Israelis should be incredibly careful to be sure that they’re focusing on going after the folks that are propagating this war against Israel. And it’s against our interests when that doesn’t happen. But I have no comfort in the number that the Palestinians are using.”

Nothing changes. Nothing is learned from history. The gaslighting, the violence, intolerance and hate will go on and on till we are all wiped out.
It's appalling and beyond tragic.

BBM. Nobody has suggested providing fuel to Hamas terrorists. The fuel is needed in the hospitals that provide care to civilians. Fortunately, humanitarian organizations--who truly care about the lives of the most fragile human beings--have been providing fuel and it is about to run out. The Israeli air strikes on refugee camps is beyond disgusting which is why US news video is now focusing on it.

One surgeon with the group described amputating half the foot of a 9-year-old boy with “slight sedation” on a hallway floor as his mother and sister watched.

A strike Wednesday in the Nusseirat refugee camp killed the wife, son and young daughter of one of Al-Jazeera TV's chief correspondents, Wael Dahdouh. Footage aired on the Qatari based network showed the veteran journalist weeping over his son's body on a hospital floor.

“They take vengeance on us through our children?” he sobbed.

In a swath of Gaza City's Yarmouk neighborhood reduced to splinters, a bleeding man hugged a child after both were dug out of the rubble. A bakery in Deir al-Balah was flattened. In a nearby hospital, medics treated a boy with a mangled, half-severed leg. One worker lifted a dead baby out of the shattered concrete and rebar of 15 homes hit in the southern city of Rafah.

Yes, the bakeries need fuel to make bread with the wheat they have received. The hospitals need fuel to keep the lights on.

The Hamas government in Gaza has fuel. We've seen photos of the storage tanks. The Hamas soldiers of Gaza, the terrorists, are keeping the fuel for their vehicles, their missiles, and to keep the oxygen flowing in their tunnel systems.

Those people who need fuel need to ask their government to give them the fuel they need, to take it away from the soldier terrorists and give it to the civilians. The Gaza government has the power to do that, and should do that.

Hamas won’t supply fuel to their civilians, yet they supplied shampoo, meals, feminine care items, clothing, medical care, medicine, surgeries, etc to the hostages being held. I’m not saying the hostages are living in luxury by any means, and the hostages should be taken care of humanely, but where is Hamas’s empathy and concern for their own people? They have ALL these things to help their own - including fuel - but the won’t.

Hamas soldiers need more fuel to power the generators that supply oxygen to their tunnels. If the fuel is given to hospitals, the air supply in the tunnels will stop and the Hamas soldiers will have to stand on the streets rather than under them. That puts them at a disadvantage, so they will keep their tunnels operating and let the hospitals go dark.

That is the decision of the Hamas government in Gaza.

Exactly. Why do some people not understand this?

Yes. Cooper Union is a private college in Downtown Manhattan.

I grew up in a neighborhood very near there, a Jewish kid in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood at the time, with never one thought or care for my safety.

It is repulsive that Jewish college students, in Manhattan of all places, should be in danger. At the hands of their own peers.

If Jews aren’t safe in Israel or NYC, where are we safe?

As stated upthread by the American-Israeli mother whose son was kidnapped - it's easier to hate. Perhaps it is time for new law in the USA preventing victimization of people on grounds of religion - hate crime law.
